I'm going to try to do it. Thank you for sharing this recipe. My classmate made it for us, and it was delicious. We wanted more. It has been years since I eaten it and I still remember it. Seen you make it bring memories of how delicious it was.
I am so very excited to find this recipe! I am from New Orleans and My grandmothers used to make these all the time when I was a little girl. Now that they are both gone on to heaven I have been yearning to make it for my grandkids. I have been looking for this recipe for a long time.. Thank you for posting this! You have made my day. I will make this for them soon!
Nice way of making this recipe. My uncle used to grate the coconut fresh, sweet potato, not just cut it up and boil it.. and mashed the banana as you did... So that's how I've always made it. I need to try your way of making it. Looks much simpler and quicker to do. Thanks! Great job. Looks delish. 😋😊😊
This is the first time I've seen someone cook the sweet potatoes without first grinding them down. I considered doing it this way once myself but I didn't try it. I'm glad to see would have worked. Thanks for this video. The only thing I didn't like is not seeing you cut into it, after you let it cool.
Yum Yum Yum. I grew up on bread pudding, which is made similarly, but never had the sweet potato pudding. I heard of it but didn't know anyone who made it. I LOVE RU-vid!!! Thank you for sharing.
I am determined to learn how to make Pain Patate.. Most people like my Pain Mais because I saw my mom make it growing up. I may have seen my mom make Pain Patate once. I think star anise in the right amount is what makes this a different taste from the Pain Mais. Although, you can add it to both. I tend to be heavy handed with the star anise and the Pain Patate has a metallic taste. Also, the texture of my Pain Patate is always off. Watching & learning. You are the 4th Haitian You Tubber I am watching.
great job, I watch over 10 other videos and was so disappointed in how mediocre they were. This is the first Haitian video with this recipe where you provide measurement and you were pretty organized and I could actually follow and replicate. As you said, it's not perfect but a great product for a first video !
It's something how everyone makes this a little different (this is my favorite dessert by far) I can eat it for breakfast, lunch, & dinner (oh, and snacks in between - lol) I wonder about the consistency after it's cooled since all the ingredients are not grated and liquids are used in place of. Still, looks good
My ClassyKitchen it looks good. My mom grates everything; patat, coconut, and then mashes in the banana. She'll add milk (from the coconut) some butter, spices, and sugar until it's the right consistency and sweet enough. Then bake off course. I'll try your version. I'll post when I do. I also notice the recipes are sometimes different based on where you are on the island. Where is your family from? Mine is from Gonaive.
The title is misleading big time, that's the American version of pain patate not the traditional haitian pain patate. The sweet potato must be grated that's a must.
