Sendo's flashback at the end, I felt so bad for this dude. He lost so much and never wanted to feel that weak again, he took the path paved by his negativity to reach the finals only to be defeated by someone who was like him but took a humble path. Sendo was Ippo's "evil" counterpart in this. The flashback is a final reminder that he was vulnerable and broken, and boxing was his way to keep those feelings at bay. Seeing his later fights in the manga I love cheering for him the most. Sendo MVP!
Thank you for such a beautiful perspective on my favorite character. I relate so much to sendo, he's my spirit animal. And I dont fully agree with your take but its surely not baseless. Parts of it are true. Id love to talk more about the true psychology behind the genius of sendos character. He has serious history that touches the very soul of the greatest men to rock the world. Those of us who never feel alive until we're pushed to the very limits of our toughness and power and mind. Its something no one can understand without experiencing. Its a drug like no other. Because not only does this drug rock your soul, you can take pride in it instead of shame. It's the soul of man. Only a handful get to experience this unbelievable feeling.
@@NatTurnergrandsonChrisdorner id argue that. Sendo is in no way evil. Hes a different form of strength. That take was absolutely completely wrong. While I appreciated what his perspective was, I promise it isn't the writers intent. Sendo is based on an old anime. That anime is based on the true feeling of being alive. To be the greatest at something, to be pushed to your limit and beyond, to feel your own perfection being challenged. Its an amazing feeling. Addicting. When you walked as a God for so long, unchallenged, until you are. And it feels amazing to be reminded you don't stand alone. No one does.
Hell yeah, I just finished watching the entire first season and I loved it! Fight had me on my feet! Is hajime no ippo new challenger dubbed yet and is it worth watching???
Sendo originally was going to be the main character. While planning out the series, George Morikawa (the author) decided that Sendo came across as too typical of a protagonist, and so he swapped him into the role of the rival, and had the series focus on the humble, polite, unassuming young boxer as the protagonist.
29:16 There's a scene in here where Ippo mentioned him fighting to see what it means to be strong and the guitar rift made it ever more emotional. For 75 episodes Ippo fought and fought to know what it means to be strong. It's ever more prevalent in this final scene where he truly shines and wants to keep going. This scene alone is one of the most iconic scenes in anime. I've watched anime since I was a kid and this scene gives me the chills. No words hold that much power to what Ippo just said. His goal isn't grand or anything but we all can relate to him.
I posted this video because i couldn't found a video of this fight subbed and with out some of the talking. I never thought this could have 100 000 views, awesome, people still do like hajime no ippo. Well besides the weird resolution and the cuts made helped to prevent the video to be blocked. Im gonna try to upload the whole fight with out the cuts, and better resolution. Then people who wants to watch the whole thing can do it.
My favorite part of sendo vs ippo when they are in-fighting position (in fighter). They punches hours and hours until they get tired. I love every bit of the details.
I’ve never watched an anime fight and legitimately root for both sides before. It’s like two MC’s duking it out in the ring and it’s fuckin brutal and exciting
"Look at him until the very end. I have to see it all! I have to see the face of the man who defeated me!" My man came with a goal to repay the L handed to him by Ippo. At the end of a gruesome fight, Sendo wouldn't allow himself to be knocked out and have no recollection of this loss like the first one. His whole thing is being a man; not just being strong but also owning up to what you can and can't do. He couldn't beat Ippo this time either, but he'll be damned if he doesn't make SOME kind of change since his first loss. Sendo is my favorite character, easily. It used to be Miyata when I only watched the anime, but seeing Sendo's progress from this point in the anime and reading up to his more current status in the manga? And his flashbacks? Sign me up for Hajime no Sendo. But yeah; go read the manga. Great stuff; shame it'll likely never be animated. Not just for the amazing fights we could have seen, but also for the amazing character growth most of the characters experience.
Thank you for this video. Im a girl yet i love this anime way back when i was in high school .. this is one of my favorite anime 😊 and this is my favorite fight all through out the series .. i always watch this along with Slam Dunk and Naruto before 😂
i watched so much anime but i swear i always felt i have to come back to see Sendo vs Makunouchi. I think i should admit it; it is the best fight ever in anime history. Yeah guys i know you will say "did u see this fight" yes i watched One Piece and still watching Naruto Bleach FairyTail and more different anime... Total i almost watched 5k episodes but i can't forget this fight, i can't forget Hajime no Ippo.
When I saw the starting with Dempsey Roll and Sendo getting caught in it I lost my absolute shit within seconds. Immediately knew this fight won't disappoint its hype one bit.
They're foreshadowing a comeback so hard, though. He's about to spend a week with Sendo in Mexico. We'll see how long the tension lasts before he's back to getting pounded by other dudes.
@Low Tier BBCFactory I don’t know what you’ve been watching but ippo is a slow starter he took beatings in his fights with vorg, date, sendo and sawamura I’m not surprised he became punch drunk
@romeda5156 this comment is from 3 years ago and he still hasn't returned lol. He's still obviously going to, though. The manga has been the best it's been in years during the retirement atc IMO
Ippo = A boxer that dont know how to finish an opponent, always caught out being slow to land the final blow and being scared almost in all fight with that face of his.
