That's real disrespectful in the beginning showing Blake griffins about to posterize Hakeem. Instead it should be Hakeem blocking the shit out of one of his dunks.
What an incredible player!! I got the privilege to watch the great Hakeem "The Dream" Olajuwon play basketball from his first game till his last and he's simply the greatest center of all time. He's played against the greatest competition of any player that I've ever seen. After only playing basketball for 3yrs, he started practicing in the summer against the NBA MVP Moses Malone! With all due respect to Wilt and Russell, Hakeem was just too quick and explosive for anybody on both ends of the court. Add that with an extremely high basketball IQ, the heart of a warrior, the ability to stay humble, and you have the ultimate basketball player. Hakeem and Jordan were the best I've ever seen on both ends of the court. Fantastic video!
This really should be made into a movie.. From Lagos, Nigeria, the Dream arrived in NYC when he was 18, to go to St. Johns University, but he quickly realized it was too cold in NYC, so he too a plane to Houston, where Coach Guy V. Lewis told him to take a cab to the UH campus.. From such humble beginnings, to maybe one of the 5-6 greatest BB players to ever play the game.. A true legend..
Never seen an intro video like this one. Quite literally the most jaw-dropping, nostalgia-inspiring, mind-blowingly-creative editing job and idea I've ever seen in anything basketball-related.
AMAZING VIDEO Bro!! Wow! Great music and highlight clips. Hakeem, in my opinion, is the greatest and most complete center in NBA history. Top level defense coupled with the baddest low post center moves EVER!! We'll never see anything like him EVER again.
I play as a guard... but I watch Hakeem for counters and footwork. This is true not just for us nobodies... even for NBA players. That's how great he was.
Imagine growing up watching Air Jordan, the Dream, the Admiral, the Worm, Sir Charles, Pat Ewing, etc. I was so lucky. Lotta good NBA memories in the 90's.
Man, this was the BEST INTRO I'VE EVER SEEN, so well composed, the song, the "photoshop", everything! awesome job with that and the rest of the video as well ;)
It's A NBA commercial type in youtube Greatest NBA commercial ever it's pretty cool the modern players are in the older players video like dwight howard getting blocked by bill russel lol
Hakeem was the greatest center of all time. He was humble, best defender and some of Those moves were a work of art. Olajuwon was the second best player to the greatest, Michael Jordan. I have never witnessed a better player other than M.J. and M.J. If you doubt that and haven't seen Hakeem highlights, you might want to see why all the centers of today pay "Hakeem The Dream" for lessons. Best center of all time in my book. Happy to actually see some of his games.
The thing is that when you constantly practice and think about things.. it becomes part of you such that when game time comes you can turn off the thinking and "be like water" reacting to your environment.
Epic start, epic music... Shaq, Russell and Wilt dominated the paint with power. Hakeem dominated it with technique and defender-confusing moves. ooh i love seeing that hand fake, such a beauty!
Hakeem grew up in the same era as Michael Jordan and many other great players ALL influenced and under the spirit of Dr J. Hakeem was the first big man to have the Dr J like moves. It was an era thats hard to explain if you weren't there to witness it for yourself. Things like palming the ball and yanking it back aren't even done today but Jordan and Hakeem wowed many audiences doing that little move which Dr J invented.
Hakeem is a player like no other. He might not be the top player on everyone lists.. But i will tell you this.. There has never been a classier, nicer, humble, more class act player in the NBA with his level of talent. That is a fact. Every player that player with him or played against him will back this comment up.
Most underrated Player of all time (with Duncan).Top 10 of all Time.Just great. His teammates were not good enough from 87-93 (and even that 1994 Championship team was not that good). The worst thing to his career is not going up against Jordan in the Finals, which is the big asterisk of his career.
Hakeem is so versatile: If you are smaller than him, he will beat you under the basket with shots, blocks and rebounds. If you are taller than him, he will go few meters from the bakset and make the jumpshot. Try to get closer, he will pass you like a guard.
maaaan the dream was majestic. The nba is really lacking a natural bigman atm that has post moves. Know one will ever have a better post game then the dream though .. sooo good to watch. Good video man :)
