For the past decade, The Ebrington Arms has won a clutch of awards for it's food and drink including two AA Rosettes for seven consecutive years, the award for CAMRA North Cotswold 'pub of the year' three years running and was rated number one village pub in the UK by The Times in 2017. It brews its own organic ale and offers some delightful rooms. What more could you want?
And with "Fatman and Little Boy" already in use, he might just have to settle for "The Cook, The Thief, His Wife and Her Lover." "The Gods Must Be Crazy?" "The Golden Child?" "AssMasters 17?" Yeah... Those are probably taken, too.
I shouldn't have had to scroll this far for someone to share my disbelief! That was nuts! I thought they were just gonna do the Paul Rudd on Conan gag.
Well they're faster than that hack fraud James Cameron that's for darn sure. They've already put out the review they promised before his Avatar Sequel Series, and they just put out a new video for our viewing pleasure. My guess is we'll get both a stable build of Cyberpunk 2077 and Half-Life 3 before those films.
Based off their brief talk of Dunkirk, it's basically like "Yeah it's a Nolan film," nothing to really say for the show. Same with Wes Anderson films. Jay did tweet last year he understood Nolan wanting TENET to be in theaters but Bill and Ted 3 being good for VOD
My friend played the conquistador in Synchronic. His name is Walker Babington. He's had a handful of roles in films, but he's also a stuntman and a really talented artist and carpenter.
The scarcity of mainstream releases has been a very good thing for Half in the Bag. Diving into the depths of streaming catalogues has given Mike and Jay some interesting material that better demonstrates their critical and analytical skills than, say, a superhero blockbuster might. I'd never heard of any of these three movies, but the discussion of them was compelling and stimulating enough that I now want to check out the latter two and turn them over in my own head. Well done, guys.
you guys legitimately suck for leaving Mr. Plinkett out there. He just wanted a whacky adventure. Repeatedly scamming him out of his money for decades was fine, but this?
There was one 'fuck' in Discovery which I found kinda cute in the first series, when Stamments is telling Tilly about something and she goes "Thats so fucking cool!" then looks awkward and embarassed and he's like "No Ensign, it IS fucking cool." It was like a sweet moment of two characters bonding. But the power of math made me cringe my skin inside out.
It won't be long before Jay and Mike will have scraped the bottom of the streaming services and Half in the Bag will become Best of the Worst in all but name!
Whats strange is that no matter how badly written a character in a book or movie is, there is still a 100% chance that someone in real life is just like that character. So sometimes i wonder what those people might think when somone proclaims that a character is badly written when that character is just like them. Whats it like to live the life of a badly written character?
"If you actually liked space cop you'll probably like this film." "and if you didn't like space cop you'll probably like this film." Dunno if Mike responded like this as a joke but it makes sense. If you're the kind of person who has watched space cop, you're probably going to get the films that psycho goreman is riffing on.
That octopus scene is really from the new twilight zone, wow, I didn't miss anything there. Also loved Spring, Intervention and the Endless, so waiting for a service that I have access to to bring Synchronic.
i havent seen space cop, and i was mostly listening to this while working rather than watching, as im a 3d designer theres a lot of point and click monotony of my job so i tend to focus more on what i listen too than my work, but hearing space cop open his fridge was the most funniest thing ive heard in a long while!!!
I haven't seen Psycho Goreman but from how they are describing it, it keeps reminding me of themes in Billy and Mandy. That dynamic worked really well when you had Grimm as the otherworldly monster who ends up enslaved to these children, the boy is a hapless idiot and the girl is nuetral evil. And the whole thing can be very comedic and dark. That might not be what the movie was going for, but just with the girl sorta being in charge and a bit of a monster herself, that just kept reminding me of it.
Totally disagree with Mike here. Mimi was a highlight for me. Allowing a girl to be this type of character was very entertaining. I groan every time I see a girl that age in movies portray a perfect little angel. Let her be obnoxious & over the top, I say! That and the practical effects and costumes made the film.
My favorite line in PG "Now who's the one who is lazy, Susan?" They made a character's hang up being considered lazy just so they can say this joke. Excellent build up and payoff.
Minor tip: don’t use red borders on RU-vid thumbnails. Seeing a red line near the bottom of a thumbnail makes me think it’s a filled progress bar of an episode I already watched
Yes. I always thought if I was a RU-vidr I'd put a red line halfway through the bottom. That way people would click on it thinking it's something they started watching but never got to finish and click on it impulsively.
Going off of those Synchronic clips with The Room dialogue on top... Just hire Greg Sestero, cowards! He's gonna deliver your dialogue as good as Jamie Dornan or whoever, he's probably pretty cheap, and I literally won't not enjoy your movie. Either it's good and I like it, or it's bad and I can just giggle about The Room the whole time.
They've created a new niche in film, using audio synch & dubbed from an alternative movie with similar plot contrivance. I would love to see Aliens 2 dialogue in the movie Prometheus. Or rutger Kipling's A man who would be king. Or dub the movie Star Gate. Or the movie Alien vs Predator with the Mayan temple.
I thought the alien screaming “Oh my god!” was just a possible homage to Rich/RLM. Didn’t realize it actually was Rich. I agree with Mike 100% about PG though.
So what I'm getting from this is Psycho Goreman's sort of like a live action ultraviolent version of The Grim Adventures of Billy and Mandy. That's kind of amazing.
FYI: (42:42) “CIA agent Felix Leiter” in this movie “Psycho Gorman” is actually an Ian Fleming character who appeared in most 007 books and films. An American equivalent to the MI6 hero. Proof that they’re in the same universe? Almost certainly.
Really disappointing movie from those guys. Resolution, Spring and the Endless were really good. And all connected, i didnt notice if Synchonric was connected to those movies.
I think the best way to describe PG is it’s a homage to Grim Adventures of Billy and Mandy where two kids trick the Grim Reaper into being their servant.
The RLM Cinematic Universe spares no expenses when it comes to using green screen and CGI whenever they can. In the Behind The Scenes for this episode it's revealed that Mr. Plinket at the end is actually a computer animated mo-cap performed by Andy Serkis.
I honestly didnt even know about synchronic. Those directors got on my radar last year, and i was instantly fascinated with their work. Spring so far is my favorite! Really good movie, i highly recommend it.
@@ted_cruzumaki Just to be clear, I am not that dude. MAYBE if John Constantine wielded the hammer, I might wanna watch a Thor movie. But I would rather see Constantine vs Candyman. Or, here's a thought, not have so many comic movies.
@@wanderslostify I'd like a movie called "ConstantlyThor" or "ConstantCandy" or something along those lines. That would be prime Netflix content...or maybe Quibi.
I believe Promising Young Woman is one of the best I’ve seen in years. Perhaps as a female, familiar to the subject matter, a film buff, and psychologically understanding that she had nothing left to live for.
I can't believe MIKE is the prudey-tood stick-mudder about Mimi in Psycho Goreman. She's literally a horrible monster herself, and she ROCKS it, and that's the point.
Psycho Goreman is a South Park episode. Jay nailed it when he said the little girl is Cartman. She handles it all exactly like he would, and her brother is basically Butters.
