Well, hello everyone!
This is a continuation of my past video with a demonstration of the cut opponents from the old plot of the game Half-Life 2, the old and added new ones were updated, the future will be a couple of restored ones.
Attention: This is just a demonstration of the recovered remnants from the merged animations, models and implemented on the basis of The Rising the bar, the addon is raw and I do not carry any liability, because I am not the creator of addon.

pretty sure "Neener eneener" is just a friggin' placeholder.. otherwise, if that enemy pushed through in the final game, we wouldn't look at Half-Life 2 the same way ever again.

Conscripts weren't technically enemies, they were allied with the player but they had barney AI from HL1 That means if you attacked them they attacked you back

Its actually an M17, the M10(M) is a copy of the US masks that the Czechs made after getting their hands on our equipment. They were quick to copy designs they liked a lot.

I can see why a lot of these enemies were removed. They seem way too powerful and not so fun to fight. They look very cool though

And the fact that most of the weapons feel weak. Take the Glock pistol for example: it feels like you're shooting BB rounds at your enemies like it was airsoft

@@Jomster777 I played Half-Life 1 all the way through in three days and then started Half-Life 2. I haven't even gotten past the first few of chapters yet, and the nerf-gun combat is one of the main reasons. I don't understand how Valve screwed it up so bad after the near perfect weaponry in Half-Life 1.

Enemies can be tweaked, HL2 just changed rather drastically and so the old ideas had to go. I love HL2 Retail for what it is and HL2 Beta for what it could be. It's so interesting to see how Valve was constantly scrapping ideas and starting again and again.

The guard and the cremator both have weapons the player was supposed to use. The guard gun can not only eliminate your target, but you. The cremator head is an object somewhat like the gas line in construction props, being so incredibly heavy, that if thrown at small speeds or dropped a small distance from a target, it kills them.

Bullsquids were cut because when they were moved from the corridors of Black Mesa to the more open areas of HL2, the player would see them coming from very far off and unload a bunch of rounds on them before they would pose any interesting threat. Thus, Valve repurposed them as aquatic monsters in laying in waiting in ponds, but the playtesters would cheese them by not entering the water and again shooting them from afar (I imagine it’s kinda like if the icthyosaurs in HL1 were slower, had only 20% of their health, and the water was transparent - pretty lame indeed)

I give you extra-points to this about the cremator, because majority who tried to turn cremator’s into NPC always miss the point they actually use a kind of corrosive plasma/substance sprayer for sterilize corpses and eliminate headcrabs that get into the trains, not a flamethrower (Well cremators it’s said they won’t attack you unless you provoke them) congratulations for making some npcs working and keep improving the others! Is funny to play.

Honestly I can see why most of these were cut. Some of them were just really bad to fight or they were enemies made redundant by other enemies who did basically the same thing. The only enemies here I can see working in game would be the Houndeye, bullsquid, cremator, combine assassin, the hydra, and the different city/wasteland scanner variants outside of the one ingame which just takes your picture. The human guard would have made a good boss to replace the antlion guards you fight in Nova Prospekt. Better yet having them fight eachother and then you take on the winner.

Combine assassin doesn’t fit the game IMO, as its presence would subconsciously make the player associate the other transhuman units as automatically ”male”, which surely isn’t the intention

Iirc north america is gully xen infested, like earth life and xen wildlife mixed together. So thsts probably where all of them are. Maybe in hl3 we go back to black mesa for something, and we get to see the xen forests or whatever.

Reason why is probably because it didn’t work out for gameplay reasons. The devs wanted the Bullsquid to be more different than HL1 by making them behave more like crocodiles in ponds instead of running around. It wasn’t compelling enough for the bullsquid and made players think that every body of water has a bullsquid in it, and so it was removed. As for the Houndeye, I guess it was the same problem, gameplay reasons. (Not the crocodile/pond thing tho)

my headcannon is that the cremators are basically advanced metro-cops/a branch of the metro-police; after you've served as a metro-cop for a while, you have a chance to be promoted to a cremator, basically where you just do the dirty work of cleaning up the dead and eliminating xen creatures, with larger ration proportions as a form of "payment." i don't think they'd be brainwashed at that point though, instead being in the same position as the regular metro-police: conscious of what they're doing but having to do it since they really have no other option. maybe you could even go up and talk to one or something, and they'd say something similar to what the citizens say when you interact with them. tl;dr: my headcannon is that cremators are cooler metrocops that still aren't brainwashed at this point

A Cremator head can be seen in Eli's lab when you first reach Black Mesa East. The table near Dr. Mossman's little camera area has it in a jar.

Something about the crab synth is so fascinating to me. It’s my favorite synth from the beta and all time favorite synth in general. They share a close resemblance to head crabs but bigger and bulkier. Makes you wonder if they are related to each other or not

I do not think that the Crab and Mortar Synths are really cut. They are in the game. Gordon just does not fight them.

yeah some of these still exist in the game or the world, such as Advisors, Crab Synths, Mortar Synths, Cremator, and Elite Metro Police (since they are just a higher ranked Metrocop, and we know there are higher ranked Metrocops).
