One of my favorite tunes from HL1 and HL2 Music from Half-Life Plays during some encounters with the HECU marines during Surface Tension and We've Got Hostiles
I kept save points to enjoy this music again and again... and enjoy the adrenaline blast during the fights which this music caused.... this music thing of the game was a pump up and made it more enjoyable... half life is one the most innovative FPS game I have played and is my favourite

Music fit the scene pretty well. From scaling a cliff, going through pipes running through a canal taking on 6 soldiers and 2 fucking tanks, they couldn't of chose a better song. Half Life 2's helicopter chase scene was a great choice, but it just didn't live up to the first. I could listen to this badass peice all fucking day, it makes me want to run and gun so badly.
And the song is renamed "Lambda Core" in the Half Life 2 OST and that also happens to most of the songs in Half Life 1, They get reused in half life 2 and renamed
I fondly remember playing the very last part of Halo 3's escape bit with my brother while blasting this tune. Made it amazingly tense! XD Was so epic. Also, before any irate fanboys try to twist my head off, yes, I have played Half Life and to this day I love the hell out of every second of it. I recently finished playing through it and think I might start over. =D
This is also my favorite track in Half-Life. Usually when I listen to this my mind kinda trances and imagines things, things like what could be out there in space, in other planets/worlds. This music truly awesome! XD
@neelixleefurball The Halo OST has it's epic moments, the problem with it is that you hear that music through the entire time you're playing. Whereas with HL you only hear music when something important just happened. Making it have all that much more of an impression.
So this covid19 business has finally given me time to play HL1 for the first time, and I'm amazed! The HECU Marines feel WAAAY more threatening than the Combine in gameplay and actually make me tense! Wtf happened?
I guess that's because back in 2004 there was a trend for a slow paced shooters (look what happened to Doom series), so Combine doesn't seem that much of a challenge because they're just slower than HECU soldiers. Still, Combine soldiers have some good moments.
@gengyu89 Music was streamed off the CD... It came with the game.. That's one thing i enjoyed about the old days, getting to know what track was the best on the CD. The Quake CD got a lot of plays in my house. Gone are the days when buying a game meant you could play it by simply inserting the CD. Actually.. Gone are the days when people actually bought games. Now we all have to suffer.
Yeah, you do need to be smart to enjoy this story. I remember when I was 19 and I played Half Life 2 for the first time, I hadn't changed from Psychology major to a Literature major yet, and the game was very confusing, but fun. Now I'm 26, and the story makes great sense and is mysteriously haunting. Do you even know the story of the Half Life series? They don't read it off to you, so you have to have some intelligence to pick it up. Also, labeling opinions as facts is a logical fallacy.
It fits much better in the Half Life 2 hunter chopper chase scene then the spots it was used in the Half Life. The most quintessential song for when you need to haul ass.
I know I'm late but it fit well where it was as well. I mean, it played for the first encounter with the marines, which pretty much signalled the game's transition from creepy zombie infested facility to action packed firefights. I think that's what the devs were going for here :p
The original Sierra version had this music too. Only when the CD was inside though, because they were cd tracks, and not possible to install on the disk somehow. I remember ripping them with an audio cd track ripper software back then, fwiw.

Why i Hope to work for valve/Steam one day.. they make such epic games, annnnnnd they care about their games... unlike ALL the other companies. I might play those other companies games.. but i RESPECT Valve/Steam..

I don't think you realize; subjectivity reveals only a personal opinion based on no reproducible fact or object. Basically, you lost. I don't care about what you think -- that's how arguing works. All that you argue is preference and subjectivity, yet you pawn it off like a fact. I told you already, Half Life 2's story was a very well executed twist that -if you were smart- should have blown your mind. It's a classic badder-guy beats bad-guy. Galactic-dimensional conquest -- so worthy.
Somebody pieced together and remastered the beta version of this track. It was interesting to listen to, but, like the beta itself, just didn't live up to the final game. I guess that's why you hear this track and not the beta one :P
