This video confirms either that A) Trav is in the same place Civvie is and is also subject to abject torture, he just doesn't talk about it B) Trav is the head administrator of The Clown Room Or C) Trav is Civvie's G-Man
@@TheWintersoldier45I’m not entirely convinced Mandalore isn’t in the dungeon as well considering all the brain poison he may or may not consume willingly.
If you're wondering about the revolver zoom in that one port, I'm 90% sure it has to do with the fact that the revolver acts that way in the multiplayer deathmatch mode of HL1. The mod just uses vanilla HL1's multiplayer functions, so the revolver's behavior was carried over from that.
Yeah man I played a bunch of HL1 DM back during the WON days. Such great times, but some things were different between SP and MP. Like the Tau cannon charge pushback isn't in SP but it's one of the biggest things it's known for.
Considering that Civvie insisted that the reason why he wouldn't cover _Decay_ with _Opposing Force_ and _Blue Shift_ was "it's multiplayer, and Civvie has no friends", I'm glad to see that he's finally made a friend! ...Wasn't expecting it to be Trav of all people, but it's a start!
Yeah honestly it was kinda wild hearing him talk and realising, no he doesn't just talk like that off a script. That's just how he thinks normally too.
the fucking bad to the bone joke at 26:39, perfection, and this time you actually don't expect it so it's even better then regular bad to the bone memes
Or when they made a Randy reference, and they showed a can of Crisco. Definitely a reference for the Civvie fans. ((Unless Trav talks about how greasy Randy is too.))
I think it's more likely that the Hoaxer port's Revolver scope is a side effect of the mod being built in Half-Life: Deathmatch, which includes the revolver zoom. I bet if you used impulse 101 the crossbow would be explosive too.
34:24 Specifically, he says, "These aliens may not all be here by accident." Combined with something intentionally keeping the rift open, it means the aliens aren't all being teleported to Black Mesa randomly due to the Resonance Cascade but are being sent deliberately to invade it. He's learning about the invasion, not the aliens being at Black Mesa.
Fun fact about the chapter "Intensity". There is a button right next to where you spawn that, if you hit within 5 seconds, will result in Keller cutting his monologue short by saying "Good job doing previous stuff. Let's move on to doing new stuff.". It's really useful if you want to spend less time listening to Keller before you can actually play the level.
What would have helped solo play is that in Gina/Colette's sound files, there's unused NPC follow lines for both of them (Of the "Following you/I'll stay put/I won't go another step" formats like the Scientists/Security Guards), I can only presume it wasn't implemented due to issues.
I think "player bots" werent a thing in Goldsource until Counter Strike Condition Zero. It may be hard to implement especially considering the time they used for other aspects of the game plus the cancelled Dreamcast port.
The reason Gina ended up in Xen, along with a few other scientists is actually explained by a Opposing Force CTF mutliplayer description for the stage Xen Dance. Here's what it says. “The battle for Black Mesa has taken a turn for the worse as the unstable dimentional rifts become more and more dramatic. Now entire groups locked in battle are finding themselves suddenly and unexpectedly teleported across space to the border world known as "Xen". But even in the strange new surroundings, the battle rages on.” ALSO the part we saw Barney in was when he jumped in the portal back from Xen to Earth, not when he's escaping the facility.
Two words: Balls Invincible. Which is pretty apt for a game with this much Jon St John in it. Also, glad that Civvie clued us in on the channel through this collab. Let's see if we can get Trav up to 100K, eh?
21:45 This version of the revolver is standard in half-life multiplayer. Just log on to any hldm server and pick up the revolver, the sights thing will be there. So I personally think that Decay PC port has this thing just because when playing it with your friends it basically runs a server and there fore HL just toggles the "multiplayer version" of the revolver.
18:31 Civvie perfectly summed up how I have felt every day of my adult life... "Alright, I think I understand this puzzle. ... ... I do not understand this puzzle."
That revolver zoom-in is from the Half-Life deathmatch rules, so presumably the Crossbow also has exploding bolts as the mod port would be using the MP rules of HL1.
No way Trav how did you manage to breach the outer [INFORMATION REDACTED] and you made it past the automated [INFORMATION REDACTED] and even past the sanity bea-[INFORMATION REDACTED], and through the hall of [INFORMATION REDACTED]. Then you managed to carry Civvie all the way back past the eternally damned [INFORMATION REDACTED]. What a legend.
Unfortunately, I'm sure The Department will just send a team of [INFORMATION REDACTED] to retrieve Civvie. I shudder to think of what they do to fugitives... At least he's got a friend now.
Congrats, you made it into my giant Civvie playlist of every video he made, sorted in hyper fixation levels of detail. You are now a part of my obsession.
Damn man, two of my favorite Gaming RU-vidrs combined. This video isn't only awesome trav-guy-quality as always, the occasional scenes with the others were great. And as a big fan of Civvie's channel as well this is just a fantastic combination and stuff like the "Sewer Count" later on (esp. how it was edited) was just such a satisfying moment that made me really happy. Thanks for this, Trav!
The idea of players getting their own exclusive drops so that while they both get everything eventually, they get it at different times, is a really interesting way of encouraging communication and awareness.
It wouldn’t surprise me if Colette and Gina’s suits were the ones either side of Gordon, because if they were it would’ve gone in an order of Red, Orange, Yellow which would’ve looked really cool.
@@georgeoldsterd8994 I watched him like crazy and then one day he just was gone from my feed, and I never saw any of his videos until now and it's been like 5 years and the sad thing is imagine how fucked up i am and our society when I can't remember to search for myself a dude I watched all the time
One thing I am always reminded of is the Half-life 1 mod - Point of View with Decay's secret level, pretty much an entire unique campaign created by modders that allows you to play as a vortigaunt with new weapons as well. You can tell that Decay's vort level inspired the entire thing and I highly recommend it if you want to have a fun time since it has the same method of healing as in Decay, plus it can also provide some interesting challenges too.
I just thought of something... If Gina and Colette were on schedule, as an NPC says they are then wouldn't Gordon just have been standing around waiting for them to do their thing backstage if he had also been on time? Like, it's not until a few minutes into the procedure that Gordon's told that the sample is ready.
Im pretty sure for classic weapons in sven you need to initiate a vote to disable HD weapons. Not 100% sure though. And i know for a fact some maps/campaings don't support disabling HD weapons at all.
Regarding the zoom for the magnum in the pc port, it is that way because the pc port is a multiplayer mod, and in half life multiplayer, the magnum has this feature. It's a thing similar to the explosive crossbow ammo
Really nice of them to Allow Civvie this time off forcefully reviewing Boomshoots or being violently electrocuted by the wardens. I like to imagine cancer mouse had a hand in this.
21:45 The revolver zoom feature is actually from half life 1's deathmatch, some of the weapons function differently depending on singleplayer and multiplayer. Like how the tau cannon launches you more in multiplayer, making it easier to tau jump...
I haven’t seen your stuff but this was in my recommended and I saw that Civvie was featured and I am now very intrigued by the channel. Definitely gonna deep dive your content! Also, whatever you do, DO NOT talk to Civvie 15.
The revolver had the zoom in Half-Life's multiplayer, I am just assuming you haven't played GoldSrc's Half-Life's multiplayer, or forgot about it. It's fine, we make mistakes, also I really liked the video, I just found the revolver funny.
In Sven Co-op they've actually removed the ability to change difficulties. Difficulty is now based on what the map creator has set or by the servers skl cfg file. Thats probably why you found Hard mode so easy.
I believe the reason "physics" items don't slide as fast in Sven is because it's a bug caused by framerate weirdness, hence why it's patched in Sven and recently in the 25th Anniversary Update.
I find funny how Half Life Decay doesn’t even get a proper ending but instead just some random easter egg that shows that one of the characters you play as is dead in Half Life Opposing Force.
I can take a guess at how Decay would end. There is a cut line of dialogue involving Keller talking to a scientist in the Lamda Labs who tells him that something is still keeping the rift between Xen and Earth open. The last missions would involve Gina and Colette finding a way to teleport to Xen. The final mission would likely end with them trying to teleport to Xen, but getting caught in a harmonic reflux due to Barney teleporting out of Black Mesa at the same time. GIna would end up in the Xen cave Adrian finds her in during OP4, and idk where Colette would end up.
I just realized, I saw one of your videos a long time ago and thats how I learned about half life. Thank you for that, because half life is a very great game. . . that's all I have to say.
22:00 the revolver functions that way in the original half life death match, they just brought it over from that, black Mesa wasn’t the first to have it.
I guess this was that "reward" that was rumored for CV-11 not using Monty Python references for a month. A good thing, too. The lights dim whenever he's punished.
God love this video (and all your other videos) so much, it's such a niche thing and it's so detailed and well made it's like sitting through the game with you telling me about it FKSJOFOFKDK thank u this video is very comf
I think that's PurpleColonel in the video, right? For real though I love Decay and I'm glad you did a video on Decay especially with Civvie. Though from my Decay experience PC port was a pain to fix and use considering I had to use Hamachi and also fuck with the broken A.I. Also you can set Classic mode using the vote system. One last thing I'll add is that place after Hazardous Course has a cool sun lens flair (also is just really pretty imo) (Also the sun for some reason just disappears for some players) Also aSlo Also LASosalso That one secret me and my friend found instantly but we could never load the Alien Mission which is sad
Did Civvie-11 get approved to have supervised visits at the Special Department of Corrections? I thought he piled up so many infractions over the years to ever allow such a thing. Maybe he's paying for it with his prison allowance fund account. That's a lot of ramen packets and and/or Nutra-fuel drink meals to cover such an expense. I hope he doesn't go into further debt for this.
