Important details, Steam vs WON:
- Ran using the latest Half-Life on steam, with unlimited fps (between 300 and 1000), whereas WON has an original cap of 100 fps max. More fps basically means less ground friction, easier speed gain while strafing/wallstrafing, enemies will likely not attack me by taking longer to turn and I get more HP per second based on fps @ 24:18 .
- Steam has "bunnyhop speedcap", behavior that resets my speed back to ~300 if I jump past 544 ups, such thing was an official patch to bunnyhopping. WON 1.1.0.7 has no bhop cap.
- While moving rather fast I scroll down to +duck, that way I can travel without suffering from the speedcap. I also do that to object boost @ 5:33
- Steam has "quick gauss" which basically allows me to load a single cell, save/load and get a fully charged boost! that saves quite some time and ammo. @ 21:56
Q: Why is there a loop at @ 23:40?
A: The game has a limit of 32 demos per playback, so I had to fill in more demos to continue, I won't edit that out. it loops when it's done.
Update: speedrun.com/hl1 moderators allowed r_norefresh after this run was done, so I can toggle it on/off for a massive fps boost for IHD, I have a way better route for surface tension nowadays but this category is painful to run and to be frank it looks cool as it is.
