A tour of Half Moon Cay in January 2019. Half Moon Cay is a private island that was bought by Carnival Corporation in the late 90s. Carnival Cruise Line and Holland America Line both use the island as their private destination in the Bahamas.

In the winter time, Carnival Cruise Line will also use Princess Cruises Princess Cays when Holland America ships are calling at Half Moon Cay. The two cruise lines rarely make a call at Half Moon Cay together.

Been twice to HMC with Carnival out of Baltimore. My best beach so far because it's surrounded by nature. As soon as I arrive, I head to the far end away from the crowded beach and just enjoy mother nature and the warm, clear waters.

Best beach in the Bahamas/Caribbean! We love HMC. Renting a cabana was fun, like you said, the ceiling fan and A/C were welcomed, and we had soft drinks & water, veggies & dip, snacks, etc., all delivered to the cabana. They also provide snorkels and float rafts. We did that twice, but other times just stroll around visit the bars, and so on. If you don't have a cabana, you might want to consider renting a "clam shell" for shade and a couple of beach chairs for maybe $15 or $20 - not sure of the exact price. The sand here is awesome, it's like sugar! Thanks for the review, nicely done.

My and 2 of my cousins went there and explored the jungle/forest in east side of the island and it was absolutely insane. It felt like we where exploring the island for the first time. We got lost in the forest and made it back for the last shuttle! It was absolutely incredible It’s priceless!

I like Charleston because I drive down from Ohio to save on airfare. It's 10 hrs. from Columbus Oh...IO...I have an hotel I spend the night & they keep my car there, & I take a shuttle, saves me parking fee, plus the hotel is right by the highway (I-77) back to Ohio. August 26th is my Anniversary 42 years. Go Buckeyes!!! About time S.C. got a good ship, Ecstacy sucked.

I just recently went on carnival pride and they took us here! It was amazing! Whenever I looked underwater with goggles, and angel fish were everhwhere! Can't wait to go back

You made a point of continuously pronouncing at Cay. I've only sale there with Holland America and they are very specific about pronouncing it as Key. Every cruise director mentions it during announcements. You should mention the 2 ways people pronounce it.

The island tour was awesome. Small and intimate and the land and sea horseback riding was truly an adventure. The bbq was great, fresh fruit, beautiful ppl, and all.

The beach was gorgeous.so pretty . There we no street lights it was very laid back and relaxing. The people were very nice not pushy or aggressive.

We visited Half Moon Cay for the first time the beginning of December while on Holland America's Nieuw Amsterdam and it was amazing. The most beautiful water and beach I have seen anywhere. We are going back April 8 this year on Nieuw Statendam and I can't wait!

@@CruiseRadio , the Rock & Roll venue to go along with BB Kings and the others. On our Nieuw Amsterdam cruise I was in BB Kings every night they played. The best music of any cruise I have been on (I typically cruise RCCL but have also been on Celebrity and NCL)

Thank You for the review. We are going on our second cruise, and first with the two kiddos, along with a few families, this August. Wish they stayed at the stops longer. Next cruise will have to be the one to Bermuda where it docks for three days. Hate being rushed. But friends already booked this for their anniversary.

I love Half Moon Cay I went last January and it was amazing. I enjoyed the free buffet that was a great idea for Carnival to have for their guest. My only complaint a small one though is that I wish they had a few big shops to shop at. They had a few little places but not much else other then that it is a great destination to visit.

That's because it IS actually pronounced "key". Different spelling but same definition; a small island made up of either sand or coral. Anyway this is by far my favorite stop in the Bahamas. If you haven't been there yet, please treat yourself. You'll literally wish you could stay forever.

Key and Cay are used interchangeably. Cay migrated from Spanish Cayo -- the letter O dropped off when adopted to English.

F.T.T.F. gets to go 1st, My wife & I were there an hour before my kids showed up. I'm not sold on these Islands owned by cruise ships. We already do all this on the boat. Plus the reason I go is to see the other lifestyles in the island life. So I try & buy the 2 Island stops like Freeport/Nassau. But that's just me, I enjoyed the Island, but it's all about keeping the money for Carnival.

With Princess cay having a devastated fire, will princess cruise line start using Half moon until it is rebuilt? As far as Half moon Cay, we have been there several times and truly love the place. Hands down the best beach I have ever been too! Both times we just lounged around and went swimming.

Absolutely our most favourite island. Always get a cabana as far from the dock area so much more peaceful. Though may not be going back as heard that carnival is going to redevelop the area and don’t like what we read. Why spoil a perfectly natural island, that’s what most of the visitors like about HMC.

Doug, please redo this video, and use Holland America ships as the focus. With all the Holland America signage around the island, It clashes with the ships you're showcasing from carnival. Been there several times. Depends on the group of people that’s going there. Sometimes it’s loud with kiddos sometimes it quite with older people. But either way it’s tolerable.and there’s nothing tasty about those lobsters. Only if it’s a Maine lobsters. Ayuh.
