That’s a beautiful piece of work. I’ve been paying particular attention to the workings of the pin deck, the way it lifts them up and over the spotting holes. I wish I had the money and the space for one!

Still the best mini bowling channel on the internet. You deserve double the subscribers I have man. Great work. Love the progress! And with the scoring... were you going to use OpenScore by Compys arcade? Because that's the scoring I use and I think he lives in Texas. Was just wondering. Like I said keep up the great work, can't wait for future videos :)

Random aesthetic question. Have you thought about adding a deck shield? (like the A/A2s). If so, do you have any ideas about how to install a deck shield to the pinsetter? Or are you going to leave the pinsetter table as is? I notice how the pin deck moves slightly forward when dropping in the pins right before they are set onto the lane. That seems like it could cause problems if there was a deck shield installed.

No I will not be installing a deck shield. I actually looked at what I would need to do and it can be done but I am leaving it as it is. The whole purpose of this machine is simplicity and minimal parts to keep the cost and maintenance down. It has been very difficult to keep it simple in design, yet have it operate reliably. The other part of the answer is that I actually have seen A2's without shields and I kinda liked the look of them. They were interesting to see.

coasterp yeah I've seen A2s without the deck shield as well. They do look a little surreal lol.

The difference is the Brunswick deck moves to the rear to the drop the pins into the spotting fingers then moves to the rear to allow the moving deck to clear the pins as the the deck spots the pins and lifts back up to the zero position.

James Shanks yes it does. The pin turret also moves counter clockwise on the Brunswick pinsetters. (I'm assuming one of the reasons why it runs clockwise on this machine is to not have any copyright infringements) I was a part time mechanic at a bowling alley for two years. They had A-2s running at full A-2 speed. It was a marvel to sit on top of one of those machines and watch it run all night!!

I had my own center after years of being a pin chaser then went to work for Brunswick as a B mechanic and 2 years later was offered my own center. 24 lanes all machines were green with one rake stop built by Otis elevator company. They all had 4 digit serial numbers. Modified to A-2 configuration and were running at A-2 speed. I slowed them all down to model A speed as the center was averaging 400 stops a night with 900 league bowlers. I found the original center mechanic wasn't doing any maintenance other then that required to get a Pinsetter running. They run far more reliably when running at A speed. Within a month I had the stops down to 30 or so a night, still not ideal but far better than what I found when I took over. The league bowlers thought I was a wizard because they were now able to bowl three strings in two hours instead of three to four hours. Brunswick artificial lanes, this was 1980 state of the art Brunswick automatic scoring in a newly built building designed for bowling in 1980. Using Brunswick pins. First parts order was 25 model A motor pulleys and 500 cases of AMF pins as the Brunswick pins are nice when new but crack and fail far quicker than a AMF pin. Some of the machines only had 18 or 17 pins due to pin failures. The manager freaked out when I handed him the order for 500 cases of AMF pins and tried to get me to buy 100 cases initially until I asked him if he were bowling in a league would he like the fact that the other bowlers in the next two lanes had brand new pins and I was bowling with the older crappy looking pins? I got my 500 cases. The next week. After installing all the new pins I manually swept the deck on all 24 lanes so 21 pins were in the deck and turret and when we turned on the machines for practice and the new pins came into view the bowlers started cheering. I never saw such a reaction to new pins. The Brunswick pins were only just over 2 years old and failing an average of 3 to 4 pins a week.

You better start saving now. These will cost about $30,000 each. Hopefully by time you're in you're mid-20's with your own house you can buy one. That is unless you can get ma & dad to spring for one now. LOL
