I am a big fan of games like Half Sword or Exanima, and this tutorial really helps. I found myself playing half sword extremely aggresively, because i had a lot of trouble with parrying. It came to a point where if i didn't act aggresively i'd loose 90% of the matches. I wonder if your tips will help me, but you certainly managed to encourage me to try a more defensive style of playing. You look so cool dodging and parrying these blow that it looks almost easy! Good content, looking for more.
Trening down the sensitivity was the biggest help. I managed to get somewhat consistent with the parries and when I combine them with what I have learned about offensive movement I have a high survivability. I have also noticed that stabbing helps with realigning your sword and it parries stabs too. Your second video about passive parry helped a lot too. Thanks and have a lovely day! :>
This is the first video I've been able to find of someone playing with a method other than flailing around. It's good to see, I'm surprised there aren't more players who know how to fight properly.
can't wait to try these tips... i have some great gameplay footage recorded that im gonna compile and would love to get your opinion on it but thanks for introducing me to this awesome game regardless bro
I was really into mordhau and ive been wanting to get back into it, but now i really wanna get into this too. Thanknyou for enabling me to get good at yet another niche medieval game
this is a great tutorial for swords. what do u think of autoblock / passive parry? how do you think parrying attacks would be without it? i think autoblock should be removed, or they should add a toggle button for it, because i enjoy manually block attacks.
While yes, I like the idea of manual blocking. In reality, controlling it would be a little much I think. The assisted parry ( because its not quiet an auto block ) is able to move the sword in ways we cant controlling Willie. The assisted parry still requires the player to do SOMETHING, which is all I can ask for right now. If the devs can come up with a creative way to allow for more manual blocking, I'm all for it. I'm just not smart enough to think of a way to do it. 😂
@@OVRDTH i agree, manually blocking ai is pretty difficult right now, but i believe that it will get better with the advanced ai update. although you are able to do a lot of manually blocking with polearms, which dont have any autoblock. i have a few montages on my youtube page. but in those clips i am mainly blocking overhead attacks, since there arent stances with polearms that allow for parrying other directions very well. but with swords, i think manual blocking would be possible. there are ox guards and side guards around the entire body, which would be possible to block with if there was no autoblock
i also like calling it autoblock, because it doesnt really parry attacks, it just moves your arms to be in the path of the enemy's swing and nothing else
That is fair! The ideal motion is a slight counter swing to the "passive parry zone" where you can follow through for the riposte, instead of a block > attack. If that makes sense, at least thats what I'm always trying to do.
@@OVRDTH that makes sense. but i would just rather be able to manually block than have to work with a weird auto system. i think it would be better to have more freedom with parrying and stuff
great stuff man! Very informative! I have NEVER let go of shift during a fight. And I have never stopped begging the devs to make it toggleable... but they don't listen to me... :( even though I'm one of them... It's probably because I'm just an artist :((((
@@OVRDTH Good strategy, let's wear him down and in the meantime we should recruit others to our cause, and also we should call ourselves The Fellowship of the Toggleshift.
Do you ever use the stab input to parry? I notice that in some positions the blade can be whipped across flat-side leading. I’m not good enough to do this consistently and do not know if it’s even useful lol.
Excellent video - and you have a great voice too - a question, the mouse tracker you display on screen, what is it? It would be very useful to have to help reinforce to me exactly how my mouse is moving. Thanks.
nice vid you helped me a lot but how do you counter with your stike in one motion i have trouble with that could you give some tips and maybe another vid on this topic
By combining an active parry with the passive parry. But it requires you to read your opponent and time your swing correctly plus making sure your weapon is in the correct place for the passive parry to kick in.
I’ve never seen such a realistic and interesting gameplay style. However, if I may say so, the weapons are too heavy to be handled that quickly, and it’s nearly impossible to have enough stamina to perform so many movements without being out of breath and down on your knees.
@@OVRDTH Incredible, you’re absolutely right, and I have to apologize. You won’t believe this, but my video was actually sped up to 1.25x, and I didn’t realize it during the video, even with the sound. That’s why the movements looked little bit to fast. Sorry about the comment! Great job 👏
