As a music guy... you know as well as I do that the microphones are strategically placed and oriented to capture as much sound on the field as possible with multiple technologies. It has nothing to do with the loudness of everyone. You're telling me I can hear 1 QB yelling on the field during 3rd down and that's louder than the crowd?@@riythemusicguy7696
The most impressive thing about this performance is that even though the split drumline is 60 yards apart they still managed to stay together. Mad respect
Born and raised in Michigan, alumni dispersed throughout the entire family, attend games at Michigan Stadium regularly, and I must admit, as the Michigan Marching Band is incredible, the OSU band is also incredible and a significant part of what makes these experiences so great and memorable. Amazing sound, combisition, and movement. Script Ohio looks super suave. Overall. not quite as good as the Michigan Marching Band, but amazing nonetheless.
Halftime? When I marched, this was the pregame set. Their athletic department really took their pregame time and sideline seats?! Here I was thinking at least we showed up their band with an awesome Elvis show. I've read about this happening to more and more bands. I thought the B1G programs were better than that. Well, whether it's for commercials and greed or pettiness, I hope our athletic department treats them in kind next year. They could make a lot of money off the good seats we usually give visiting bands.
The same thing happened in AA two years ago. There was no pregame and the band was forced uo to the rafters of Michigan Stadium. I guess we have to fight fire with fire here and play tit for tat. Next year in Columbus, no pregame for the UMMB and stick them in the top rows in C Deck. Ball's in your court Michigan. If you treat our band with respect, we'll treat yours the same way.
B1G doesn't require schools to allot any time for visiting bands to do pregame or give them non-nosebleed seats, so nobody does. The SEC at least requires visiting bands to get lower bowl seating (idk about other conferences).
So to sum it up, the Big Ten changed their policies during covid, and they took all visiting bands off the sidelines during games. As a result they all ended up on top of the stadium. From there, they’ve only usually been able to perform once during games, so it’s usually been during halftime, but Michigan and Ohio State both have chose to perform pregame shows during halftime. Ohio State has done it twice in Ann Arbor, Michigan did it last year in Columbus and this year in East Lansing. MSU didn’t do it when they went to Ann Arbor, though, and Ohio State didn’t in south bend
Michigan also has the advantage of having a fight song that transcends culture and time. Ohio State's fight song is catchy, but "the Victors" rhythm, cadence, and poetic lyrics to inspire the entire stadium to sing makes for a unique and one-of-a-kind experience. When they all go "hail! HAIL!" to Michigan.....it's undeniably beautiful and powerful.
That took cahones! Double script Ohio in the so-called "big house". Kudos to the band director. Dr. Jon Woods would be proud! Oh how I love my band. tbdbitl. Q-Row '88
I think all Xichigan fans know that we have a better band then them. They just don't want to show it. #BooBlue #Theresalwaysnextyear #OH-IO #We'llbeback #OSUMB
Buckeye fan, also a fan of great play and great bands. I would boo really bad play, and dirty and unethical play. I can’t think of a reason I would boo a Marching band. The band isn’t in competition, it’s there to entertain the crowd. If you don’t like band music, go get a hot dog.
And remember, it was the Michigan Marching Band who first did the formation of Ohio in Columbus in 1932. It's good we taught you your tradition. Go Blue!
Wait a sec I only watch College Football for the NFL draft but this actually is aloud Michigan , letting OHIO ST band perform I Emma a sign of Sportsmanship but WTF 😱 You’ve got to be F*** kidding me I’m just saying man that’s F*** crazy thank goodness I’m in Texas from Texas and TX A&M is my #1 college team, and they never allow this think about that Michigan 😤 ?! I support Michigan because your coach is my former coach Jim Harbaugh 😎👍🏽my 49ERS go blue I just can’t believe you allowed this BS Hahahaha 😆🤣
Even though the football team unfortunately lost, the band gave us a great show like usual. Keep up the amazing work TBDBITL! I’m sure Xichigan fans were still loving it though, even through the rivalry. And the Xichigan band I know supports this band. As bands do, both support no matter the rivalry
Come on, M fans, don't boo the band. I went to Michigan and was in the MMB. OSU Band always does well and I am a big fan of Script Ohio. Be gracious to the band. Boo the football team, of course. But the band kids deserve at least to be listened to. GO BLUE!
