I think they did a good job my college band is no where big as them, seeing and hearing big bands are always exciting, i dont care who they sound like it's hard to get numbers like that and maintain that size each year. I don't care if they favor SU, their name on that uniform says DEGA and that's all that matters. So good job Dega from CSU.

I'm SWAC all day but they still look and sound better than a LOT of other programs. They are creating an upset in the marching band community and that is how they're gonna move right on up, haters create and provide free publicity and like it or not Dega's name is out there.

I never heard about this band until 2 years ago when they came to Jackson, MS. and I have one thing to say about them....... Bring them to the SWAC!!!! I love this band!

+cedfri you wouldn't consider them a swac band?? If they got a football team surely thats the conference they would be in... and are you also saying that "SWAC" is an overall style, and if so, how can you accuse them of copying one band/drumline's style??

+kelvonb09 Not only are they copying the style, they're flat out playing other drum line's cadences. For the most part, every "SWAC" style school displays their own unique identity. Which ones are actually good is a whole other story, but at least they're all distinct in some way. I look at dega and I'm like, "I've seen this all before, but better". So I, along with a lot of people are just waiting for them to find their own style

+Ajizzlesoe13 Dega drumline play their own originals. Show a clip of them playing a cadence from somebody else? I have about 5 former students at Dega . . . .2 on the drumline!

PLEASE!! Can we stop comparing them to SU, JSU and every other band. Do they play instruments, do they march down the field, do they dance?? The same can be said for all the others. Now if you gonna say, well they march/dance like SU, then show us where SU invented the dance, or the head nod or whatever else yall accuse them of copying. The director went to Southern. Let them grow. End of story. Stop with the comparisons.

+jason watson and I appreciate that history lesson. That's what I expect from all of us college educated band enthusiasts. If all comments were that informational and not so biased, we could all have a better picture of what dega is doing. But my point of asking was for us to understand that while many things in marching band are considered a bands' style, no hbcu created marching as we know it today or in previous years. I can't knock dega for not being original yet and I hope their style will develop, but the conversation has to change from disrespect to the criticism you exemplified. Thank you.

The dance routine needs some better choreography. The routine itself was a Iittle choopy and didn't flow. It wasn't really a TRUE dance routine. Lots of standing still while playing and bopping horns. With the exception of the tuba breaks, there wasn't much movement while playing. Keep working.
