Euch alles Gute!

This rig is dangerous you don't want a halibut in your boat with a free hook dangling at the end of it's mouth to tear through your hand arm or God forbid your face! I've fished halibut 40 years in Alaska I've seen it all yeah bad idea!

This is meant for Norway and we do things a bit differently here and the system per say is used by most anglers here and have been for many years on both baitfish and jigs and we also fish a lot of halibut with rapalas etc with all hooksets and its not a problem at all. Injuries from hooks is quite rare here. We normally net or gaff hallies with a big hook in the lower jaw since we release a lot of them to keep it sustainable and leave them outside the boat until hooks are removed with a pair of plyers while the fish is still in the water. take some pics or a little video and they are released again or brought hookless up in the boat if they become food.

I see no problem..just harpoon it..shoot it ( if need be ) and bleed it outside the boat...going to be dead when I bring it aboard...I fish southeast Alaska and live on POW..been fishing halibut.for 57 years. I like it and will try one out this year. Can't fish if you are scared of hooks...ffs.

@@smokenjoe4022 ....wow..you really got big internet balls..lol If there was a sea lion then I would pull it in...or killer whale.. I bet your one of them guys that believes a halibut will flick it's tail and break your leg too... Sounds like you need to stay at home where it is safe for you..fish, sea lions and hooks are too scary for you..bucko..lol
