Big thanks to you for the inspiration .. just caught a 25kg plus halibut using your dongle method with a size 10 circle hook with herring bait. 40 lb braid with 70lb pulley rig. Thank you I would never had achieved a bucket list item without your videos. Some where in Norway

Hello sir, I’m New to surf fishing here in Alaska. I’ve learned so so much from you. Believe it or not surf fishing in Alaska for halibut and cod etc, is fairly new. And only becoming popular in just the last decade or so. We have much to learn here in Alaska, and you have provided me with such great advise and I’m excited to explore more options as far as rigging , bait presentation, and even swim baits like you show here. Tight lines sir.

Hi bud. I have been watching some of the shore fishing for halibut in Alaska. It seems a little different than what I am used to, the videos mostly take place on a sandy beach. Which is something that never happens in Norway. So I think that making bait clips for your rigs, would add extra distance! I think that might help out. Glad to like the videos, thanks brother 😁👌

The soft plastics have been really good for us with cod, pollock and a couple of halibut. The larger size is also helpful in keeping the smaller fish from snatching it before something bigger can come along.

Hey man first of all great video! My question would be, if you have any suggestions on what rod an reel to take for surf fishing. Im going to norway on vacation and need to buy me setup for ( 300 eur) that regard.
@Billyfishing_watch
@Billyfishing_watch 21 день назад
I'm going to assume that you're going to fish with a fixed spool reel. If so I would perish with a 14 to 15 foot, 6 to 8 oz rod. This weight class is generally good with rough ground and snags. The reel should be seven or eight thousand size! Other than this I can't really give you any advice because I don't fish with that type of tackle! I use multipliers and high end multiplier rods. But in a pinch I would turn to sonik , have a look at what they got maybe they can help you out. Thanks Brother 👌

Thanks for a educational video. I and 2 of my friends are going to Norway trout fishing, but after your video I want to spend a couple of nights at the fjord. Are there any wild camping spots near the fjords? From satellite everything that is not a cliff is built over. We will be in Bodo region.

Billy Can you PLEASEE make a video on trying to catch Small Flounders? would be awesome as i want to try to catch one but dont know what to do and have never caught one.
@Billyfishing_watch
@Billyfishing_watch 26 дней назад
Hi Rocco. If you are in North America, then simply casting out a soft plastic or some other type of lure and working along the bottom of the seafloor on a sandy beach, should do the job! We don't get that type of flounder here in Europe, the closest we have is the Atlantic halibut! But if you mean the European flounder, follow the link to this video. Thanks Brother 😁👌

Awsome video I'm educated for when I get my ass to norway Billy ? Well more of a request Will you do a video on the difference between slow jigs and fast jigs and how to the fish them . I could definitely see that being a popular topic and us lads in Scotland could use those tactics here . Mind you I've copied you jerky retrieve and found it works better than the straight by miles . But I'd love to see a video on the slow and fast jig comparison Tight lines brother see you on the beach & talk the lugs off ya 😂
@Billyfishing_watch
@Billyfishing_watch 24 дня назад
Hi bud! Originally slow jig fishing and fast jig fishing were created by the Japanese, solely for the use on boats! They worked in tandem with each other, one for when the tide was pushing. And the other when the tide was slack! Fast jigs for a running tide, slow jigs for slack tide. And as the name suggests, the action suits the name. You work slow jigs slowly, and fast jigs, fast! But apart from the action, the system does not really apply to shore fishing. They are now two different types of jigs that cast different ranges and have different actions. You could come across a place where it was necessary to fish them as if you were on a boat, but generally this is not the case. I hope this helps explain. Thanks Brother 😁👌
