Downtown Halifax is such a beautiful area during the summer months. I used to spend a ton of time here as a student, but a lottt has changed since then; the new Queen's Marque waterfront area in particular is so gorgeous! My bro and I spent the day showing Kyuho around our city; you can't go wrong with beautiful views and fabulous local food :)

I’ve lived here for over 30 years and still can’t believe the changes in the past few years. I live across the harbour and rarely drive over (weird I know) but it amazes me how modern it’s become with all the new buildings. I love how the new mixes with the old 100 year old buildings! Such a unique city!

Every time we drive by the waterfront it has changed so much - so yes, I am sure if you have been away it seems very different. The city has grown and continues to grow all over HRM. Glad you enjoyed your day.

You're not imagining it. Halifax has changed a lot very rapidly. I live in Halifax and I would be driving along and be like "what happened to that building? it was here last time i drove by" or "when did they build this? how did they do it so fast??"

@@johnlocke6506 goodness it is barely recognizable haha. My dad told me that in the 70's the circumferential highway was just a dirt road. I remember there being a huge roundabout by lake banook when I was a kid. You should see the Hollis st exchange now. It's completely different now. And most of South end Barrington is very different. It's not the seedy red light district anymore.

I lived in Halifax for 10 years and just left last week for Toronto. Anyhow, Halifax has changed a lot. Like you said, I was even surprised when I visited the waterfront and many different parts of the city, especially the Clayton Park and Bedford areas. You will notice a lot of changes with all the new big buildings, apartments, and houses.

OMG, I think I want to move to Canada-specifically, the Halifax/Nova Scotia region! So many picturesque, flat out beautiful places that look positively idelic. Is it as clean and safe as it looks, Sarah? Are there any seedy, wrong side of the tracks areas? Is it affordable, or crazy expensive? You guys are SO GOOD at filming your travels, you make me want to visit every one of them, whether in Korea or Canada. Thank you for allowing me to visit places I will likely never see in this lifetime!

Halifax has its safe areas, but seedy areas as well-much like any other city. Housing and rent costs have skyrocketed over the last few years in Halifax and Dartmouth-we certainly couldn’t afford to live there 😅 But it’s beautiful to visit during the summer months, and we’re content with that!
@janavanbeelen8489
@janavanbeelen8489 2 года назад
Halifax/Dartmouth have become a hot spot these past couple years. Lots of people moving here. It used to feel pretty safe, but with such a fast increase in population, the crime rate is increasing quickly. We are also in a housing/rental crisis ( I guess it’s pretty much the same everywhere these days). A one bedroom apartment that was $750 two years ago is now $1495-$1695/ month. We also have the lowest wages and the highest taxes in the country. Houses are selling for hundreds of thousands over asking price. Honestly, Nova Scotia doesn’t feel like Nova Scotia anymore. There are still good things of course. It’s still beautiful with lots of sights to see, and most the people are so friendly. I just really hope things start to get better here soon.

I've done a lot of work at the Queen's Marque. This building is to help project Halifax into a new age of glamor since the premier wants the population doubled. I recommend going to the Armview resturant. Anthony Bourdaine did an episode on the restuarant before he died and really enjoyed the food.

Hi guys, we were in Halifax last Monday! We were in Scotland and England, then travelled by cruise ship from Southampton to New York before coming back home to Ottawa and Halifax was one of the stops. My husband studied and worked there in the late 70s-early 80s, and we lived in Dartmouth together in 1993-4, and we definitely agree that Halifax has change SO much! We met up with his brother and sister-in-law and they showed us all the new buildings etc. (we were last there in 2018). We were amazed at all the new high rise buildings, and the many changes to the waterfront. There is so much construction going on, but it's sure to be great once it's all done. An American couple that we met on the cruise thought that Halifax was very clean. Anyway, we are now catching up on the last 4-5 weeks of your videos.

I went to Halifax two weeks ago for the first time in 10 years. It was so surreal. I was constantly either saying "oh I remember this!" or "is this new?? i don't remember this." I went to SMU and immediately got disoriented by the new buildings lol. My bf (Korean) went for the first time and really enjoyed it, and not-so-secretly hoped we'd run into you 😂

Omg, the first time in 10 years-you must’ve noticed so many differences then! Awww, wish we had run into you guys! Sounds like we might’ve been there around the same time :)

@@2hearts1seoul so many changes! some parts were really unrecognizable. but given how long I'd been away, some of it wasn't actually "new" anymore, just new to me lol. it was nice to see it growing up though. maybe we'll catch you next time! or if you ever stop over in Toronto :) actually, we're going to Seoul in a week. my first time! yayay!

You can still call it a small town when I can recognize the MacDonalds on Portland St, and the house at the end is on Otago dr....lol

I'm from Halifax although I live in Ottawa, and I get home at least twice a year. Every time I drive into town I'm amazed by how the buildings are marching out the highway, seems like another block of six- or eight-story tall apartment buildings every time. A trip across to Dartmouth gives a true perspective on how downtown and the waterfront is changing - towers going up everywhere.

There is a Korean chef who does American bbq in Seoul. I'm sure he makes smoked brisket. He helps disadvantaged youth. I will look for the name of his resto for you.

Is is Linus BBQ by any chance?

@@2hearts1seoul Yes it is Linus BBQ! If you ever come to Toronto there is an authentic Texas bbq place in my neighbourhood owned by Americans. I also have some connections in Texas. I know Korea has a large population, but am I right that it seems like the youtube content creators are a small community that seem to know each other?

Linus is great! We’ve eaten there several times 😁 We know a few RU-vidrs personally, but we definitely don’t all know each other. Then again, maybe some do who are super social 😅

Nice subtle Simpsons reference, Kevin! 😂 Oxyclean will get that out, let the spray sit on the stain for 10 minutes, then wash as normal.

Yep, I used OxiClean Max Force on chocolate stains my daughter had gotten on light pink shorts and - poof! the stains were obliterated!

Honestly Kevin is me. Ill be in the middle of a convo and just walk away to avoid wasps/hornets. Friends remain unfazed or are confused as to why I am moving away haha

Wow, I haven't been to Halifax since my Grandmother, Aunt and Uncle died. It's almost unrecognisable! Still beautiful though and makes me feel homesick. 🧡
