It’s so weird that Gareth Southgate made me think of these adverts. Only reason I came back to them, so weird how the brain works. Genuinely makes me think of Southgate worked for that branch of Halifax, he wouldn’t take part in these ads as an extra because he would think it’s unprofessional
In case you didn’t know, Halifax also made advertisements with lyrics based on the songs Sailing, Rhinestone Cowboy, Living La Vida Loca, Something Stupid and Who Let the Dogs Out! And that was only a few of them.
This ad great. One minute he's dad dancing in a crop circle, the next he's singing to a talking trout! And his face at 0:41 is just hilarious with that line of lyrics 🤣 Nixon approves, ARROOOOO!
This was before the switching service was launched, do you (or anyone else) know how switching worked before then? Did some banks have their own switching system
It's fucked up to think that on boxing day 26th December 2020 it will be 20 years since this advert aired and the world was introduced to an unknown bank worker howard brown who would become an overnight sensation because of it
I'm young enough that interest rates have been very low my whole life, and when in maths questions about compound interest come up, they often have interest rates like 4 or 5%, and I'm just thinking wow, tell me about this bank, that's an amazing rate
