The man with only hair to see is Juha Raivio, the huspand of the dead singer Aleah Stanbridge (Starbridge), whose (Aleah's) texts are the lyrics of these songs. I think he's crying there. He said somewhere he started this Hallatar after just basically crying and drowning in despair for few weeks after her death.. - Then he understood he has to start playing or he will drown forever to never rise again. So he asked them (Tomi and the HIM drummer) to do it with him. Tomi Joutsen said in the interview those recordings were so hard - both mentally and physically (he told he doesn't have the right techniques for the harsher growls he uses there - so he was basicly singing till he had blood coming from his throat ["kurkku verellä"] ) 😢 And they all had some connection to Aleah. She had been doing music with them etc, so she not only was the wife of a friend but a friend of theirs, too

An important note for this song; Heike, the female singer, she's the same Heike who's sang with Draconian for a few years. I think she is a perfect vocalist for Doom Metal. She is able to facially express the sorrow but also a certain beauty in that sorrow; that brings an artistic beauty to Doom Metal. Her voice is sad, but soothing and soft. Awesome vocalist! Another note, this video is a great example of the approach of so many Scandinavian hard rock to black metal bands in terms of the artistic side of things. Nature plays a huge role in Scandinavian music. From dark forests, to lonely barren empty vistas.. It's a part of Scandinavian metal that I personally really appreciate and enjoy. Nature as a theme can express a huge range of emotions.

I totally agree with you. And I think she is a perfect fit for a Hallatar’s song because Aleah’s and Heike’s voices are very similar.

@@reuben8190 They we're both South African as well if I am not mistaken. (Not that nationality matters.. but more in the sense that they seem to have been running the same artistic circles).

A little late to the party, but as mentioned you just had the great honor of hearing Heike Langhans for possibly the first time. The voice of Heike is indeed haunting, mystical, and frail. Her and her fiancee Mike Lamb project "Remina" was my choice for album of the year for 2022. Light field Reverie, ISON, Draconian ( latest 2 albums only), are additional works
