It took disney 82 years to have their first black princess with princess and the frog, and half of that movie she was in frog form. It will be great to have Halle as Ariel!
It’s been said on the internet that Halle used to swim in the pool like a mermaid, wore out her VHS copy of The Little Mermaid after watching it so much, and one day dreaming of acting as a Disney princess on the big screen. Now she will be in theaters next May.
Man can’t wait to take my daughter. I remember growing up having no movies that had people who looked like me in it. Sad fact is most yt ppl couldn’t handle that judging by this one fake character but I heard Disney wasn’t looking to switch the character. She just blew everyone else out the water. The video that the OP posted, I saw no standing ovation in that clip, except for a VERY few. Now if OP shown the clip you were talking about, then the title would make sense. Seeing just the snippet of the trailer and this interview, you can tell she poured her entire heart and soul into this! She’s going to be such a phenomenal Ariel and I can not wait to see her full performance!

The moment I heard she was playing Ariel, it just CLICKED and made absolute sense. She is so perfect for the role. Her voice, her look, her energy. She is Ariel. The trailer is somehow so emotion provoking and I think it’s heavily due to Halle’s presence.
