When she cut her hair, she separated herself and her looks from other "mix race" actresses who were all wearing the curly hairstyle. When Halle lets her hair grow, she looks like a million other biracial women. When it's short, she shines like a diamond

But MOST people in America are multi-ethnic especially black people but most people. Do a DNA test and you will see that due to slavery just about everyone has every African and European ethnicity there is. There is no such thing as mixed race or bi-racial. Humans getting with other humans of different ethnicities are not two different races but two different cultures. To be bi-racial you would have to be part alien or animal and human for that to be true!

Halle explaining that whole swimming thing was surprising to me. Halle, as a parent of a child with Afrocentric hair, even partially should have known this. Learn your child’s hair type. Most blk mothers do. A little science about black hair. Our hair obviously is not like others whose hair gets oily. Black hair is dry and therefore, is highly sensitive and needs specialized care. The strands need nurturing/some type of moisturizer. Excessive water absorption into the hair cortex of black hair causes each hair strand to weaken. Too much water causes our hair's cuticles to elongate and expand due to the water weight. The natural hair strands then dries going from a long, stretched strand to a more compact, tight curl in a type of protection mode from the water weight. Chlorine and saltwater can dry out natural hair even more due to their type of chemical makeup and excessive exposure to this without proper care can have a traumatic effect on the strands drying them out even more and thereby causing an even tighter curl pattern of protection. Which is why most black women know to protect their hair before getting into a pool and to immediately wash the hair, dry and moisturize afterward. Btw, because black hair does not naturally accumulate oils that attracts and holds on to dirt, germs and other things, dermatologists recommend that black hair not be exposed to excessive water daily and recommends washing the hair once a week or every other week. (Of course with the admixtures of races and ethnic groups today, there are exceptions.
