Halle Berry was allegedly LIED TO with a fake script to get her to sign onto X-Men 3 The Last Stand and reprise her role as Storm. That's the story according to director Matthew Vaughn, who was originally gonna direct the movie. Assuming this is true, let's talk about the side of Storm that we were denied as fans!

Disappointed but not surprised (if it’s true). I wonder why they would even need to be underhanded to convince her. What was going on in that contract and on that set that would make her not want to come back?

If I recall correctly, Bryan Singer ticked off everyone during X2, and the cast staged an intervention. It shows how much Halle loved Storm to return to the role.

Storm heritage is from Africa, if she helped the people from Africa it wouldn't look like a UNICEF advert. But regardless I'm from South Africa and while Africa has its issues its not all backwards here. Also I would love to see a good movie about Storm. I honestly have always loved Storm and when I saw she has roots from Africa I loved the character even more. Africa is very underrepresented. We need a good Strong assertive Storm in her own Movie or TV series.

The Static Shock episode, "Static in Africa" basically pops into my head rent-free from time to time. It's set in a normal city with normal skyscrapers and normal vehicles and normal plumbing and normal electricity and normal phone lines and normal amounts of being fed... and it just happens to be in Africa. Why ain't there more of that? It's one of the rare instances of depicting Africa in American primetime TV I can remember that didn't widdle down it down into merely "Poverty Wasteland" or "Animal Wonderland".

I think there are arguably better ways to show her motherly side without using that trope. You could show her making little tornados for the kids to play with, or her using lightning to herd some escaped farm animals. Just something to show her being less of a goddess and more of a civil servant from time to time. Then you could contrast that with her doing some divine wrath.

While this is absolute so, it wouldn't have hit deep and sensitive as bringing rain to children in Africa in a drought area.

Storm deserves a spin-off on her backstory. Would love to see her battle a polar opposite mutant causing the Sahara desert to expand. And she deserves a tragic love/loss story to give her strong character more depth.

She already has that with Wolverine's death when she was a Headmistress and with her annulled marriage by her own husband. :) I love T'Challa, but the drama there was a bit too much.

The original timeline seems to have removed her African backstory in favor of making her purely African-American, as well as retconning her as a young woman still learning her powers rather than the confident goddess she was in the comics. I don't mind starting her off learning her powers, but they never let her GROW as a character--you know, like most of the Fox X-Men outside of Logan.

Ppl blame Halle for Storm’s destruction but it was that racist gay dude Bryan Singer but of course they’ll never blame him cause they’re either too scared, too ignorant or truly down with him and how he personally felt about a Black character and actress..yet someone like Beau DeMayo gets fired for delivering justice to every character..not just the ones who looks like them.

Back then we weren't aware of Bryan's Singer's deeds, with time we learned about them and no one is blaming Hallie these days. To be honest, I am still not sure if she can fully bring the Storm we know from the comics but we shall see in Deadpool & Wolverine.

X-Men: The Last Stand don't be scuzzy as shit challenge (impossible) Halle Berry and Storm deserved so much better than what they got Also, Layer Cake from the Persona 5 OST, yay!
