Great performing Hallicrafters SX-100. I have owned many of these receivers. This one performs superior to all of them. Cosmetics are nice. Very sensitive on all bands.

I wish the bands where alive like they where in 1970s when i started in short wave radio and ham. but sure nice receiver the sx 100 , had numerous rigs all my life. SX 99 - etc if there all good tubes and fixed all up they sure are nice radios. One time I had a Car radio tube set made by Pye. it was a tube car radio, and I fixed it up it was a AM band and shortwave bands radio 49, 41,,31, 19 etc bands. it was very few tubes of the 1T4 , 1U4 - 5 types. PYE car tube radio , that was something, I let it go a flea market but i never see one again. and that thing pulled in DX like really something, Middle east was excellent on it. you be very suprised how a tube set works on am mode receptions. Antoher Classic is the RCA ACR 175 , that was a real good AM radio. i never see one again. sure loved that clock dial and tuning eye tube. you be suprised if you can get old short wave chassis from some old floor model set and set it up as desk unit chassis. some those old chassis has great RF amps and nice sound. old chassis is still like a gold to me. ! anyway thanks for videos there D lab. I just bought my Dad an SX-99. Thanks so much for posting this. My grandfather VE3-AJZ was one the oldest licence holders in Canada when he died. My dad always regretted that all his gear (mostly Hallicrafter) was thrown out. This Christmas we fix that. I'm working on my DX licence.

+Mitch Fountami Super cool. Sorry to hear that the vintage gear was pitched. Its getting harder to find good clean old rigs. Great Christmas gift! Hope to hear you on the air. TD

Hallo Terry,I am living Värmland, near the Norwigen border in Sweden.I just picked up two Hallicrafters, one SX 100 and one SX117 both are in mint condition and working.I tried for a antenna a bit of wire to hear something. But was is the best antenna i should have? A long wire ?

Terry, Hallicrafters really had their act together on the design of the SX-100 receiver. They showed they could build a fully equipped receiver in a smaller package without compromising performance. Look at the SX-101, heavy weight champ of the same era which certainly took up more space than really needed. I also enjoy my National's which seem to be built somewhat better than the Hallicrafters, although some of the WW2 military radios built by Hallicrafters were right up there with the best of them. I enjoy your videos as well as vintage radios.

+TheRudydog1 I agree man. The SX-100 was a looker and performed great. I also have a SX-101 here. need to get it on the bench. If you want it, I'll arrange for a helicopter drop. Man is it heavy. I run all National receivers. My favorite is the NC-300 (Dream receiver) Love the vintage rigs. Thanks for your kind words and support. More vids soon.

Working on one now. Having some zero beat and microphonic tube issues. And yes top end is dead unless the signal is close.

Can you tell me what type of antenna you are using and how it’s connected? I have one but don’t pickup much on a 15 foot piece of telephone wire. Thanks

Очень красивый и интересный аппарат. Думаю, что он выполнен на лампах. Хотелось бы узнать его параметры и технические характеристики и найти полную принципиальную схему. Люблю и уважаю подобные ламповые девайсы.

Always wanted one of these in my shack, but big problem in shipping from dx to India considering their weight and fragility. Ultimately settled for an NRD92 for my monitoring activities.

+satyan sarath Yes, they are a very nice looking receiver. I have settled on National receivers. Have a nice NC-183d, 300 and 303. Wife wont let me expand any further! Enjoy the hobby

+Terry Dayton Agree with you, National has some great line ups of boat-anchors. I like the NC400, but as already said getting them this far is not easy and affordable too. Thanks 73s de vu3mes

I've never seen an SX-100 that wasn't deaf at 10 meters. You must have gotten a special one.

Terry - I just picked up one of these at a local estate sale. Came with the original box. I'll be selling most of the other receivers, but I may keep the SX-100 because it's also in beautiful shape. Here's a little video of it: ru-vid.com/video/%D0%B2%D0%B8%D0%B4%D0%B5%D0%BE-fz58GEJv7_I.html 73 Paul AA1SU
