In the original ending, Challis' final screams of "STOP IT!" were backdropped by the screams of children - *millions of children* - as the masks were triggered. The novelization made this quite explicit: Conal Cochran's plan succeeded and the largest human sacrifice in all of history occurred. But Carpenter stopped short of using it because he thought it was just too bleak. So he made it ambiguous whether or not Challis succeeded in stopping the deadly signal from going out or not.
It's really haunting that you never find out for certain if Dan actually succeeded ultimately in saving the children of America....or if that Halloween became the night where NOBODY came home.😱
To me this is where i give Carpenter and Debra hill credit it shows they weren't worry about doing a new Halloween movie but showing people there was no need to use Michael storyline anymore as it like looking at Infinity train or power rangers the point of every season was to focus on a new story and setting and if you stay with the same thing from before it was leave people wanting to stop watching or reading something without the focus on something new or a fresh new take on a season or series
This is also why I look at Cochrane as one of the most diabolical villains of all time. World domination is one thing...taking over the galaxy is another. But killing ALL the children??? That's a special type of scumbag right there.
I love when he yells STOP IT and then the music on the credits I love it so much but when I hear the credits music I start to stare like a robot (that’s how good this sound track is)
Goddamn Halloween 3 is so great. I'm glad it's finally gotten its just due in the eyes of the fans. I guarantee you right now if you did a direct sequel to Season Of The Witch right now it'd do BIGTIME dollars at the box office.
My reaction to the Michael films that never needed to be made as Halloween 3 showed what we could've gotten as Halloween 2 was Michael ending story and that there was no need for him to return
@@comicbookreviewer4856 Agree. But that's where the money was. It was Carpenter's intention to have a new scary movie come out every Halloween, with only similar themes reoccurring. Season of the Witch was to be #1, and while the film got some praise, most fans derided it, it didn't do well at the box office, and that was the end of it.
@@PhilAndersonOutside that the thing Had carpenter and debra worked things out and made a new Halloween film with a new story it could've showed people that Michael storyline was over and done with as the point of ending a story line and focusing on something new shows you are at least altering the staus quo much like George lucus with the prequels and the film hallowman
Nice vid! Loved the Ending Credits to this ever since watching it in the theater 1982. John Carpenter always has the best music to set the tone of a climax to his films. If you don’t mind me asking: I no longer have Cable. But How did you record or capture this on HBO or Cinemax? I would have thought it was impossible to record?
