Yeah - the two films were made almost back to back. I'm having a bit of a "Well...Huh." moment myself. Right down to the exact same sound effects on the "chase" song. Hey, gotta do what you gotta do on a time crunch in 1982! LOL
For sure. Same composers and I think, since HIII was (sadly) a bomb when released, Carpenter and Howarth decide to just re-use some HIII stuff for Christine.
Yeah that face in the sky and the distorted looking figures on the bottom always seemed really creepy to me. The movie was still very creepy and gruesome!
you didn't hate the movie. If you look at it like an 80s Carpenter horror (and not an extension of the Halloween franchise, because it really isn't), you'd probably appreciate it more. It still has all the elements of one: his own synth score, Dean Cundey's cinematography, and a very chilling Northern California vibe.
Carpenter has that intense, penetrating synth sound. Incessant. Damn, this movie was dark. I understand why people didn't like it (no Michael Myers, waaah), but as a stand-alone horror movie? It's pretty decent
