HALLOWEEN DECOR HUNTING 2024 + Mini Halloween Haul!!! 

Jade, Joann inventory coordinator here. We got 85+ boxes of STRAIGHT UP Halloween in on Tuesday. I'm talking ghost cookie jars/cake stands, singing jack'o'lanterns, neon zombie hands yard signs... all the good stuff. We're still in the process of condensing summer down so we can fit it in, but if you check back this weekend/next week and going forward you should see all the spooky goods!

That weird verbal disintegration happens to me when I get an ocular migraine also. I also can’t do math to save my life during those episodes. It generally passes if I sit and drink water and eat a snack. They are super scary and they just pop up out of nowhere.

Oh my gosh! I had the same exact migraine happen to me and I thought I was having a stroke. Took an ambulance to the ER and everything. It was terrifying, I couldn’t speak or remember where I was. Took me days to get it all back. It’s comforting knowing others have experienced this 💕

I love how Mr. Skeleton is armless. Ya’ll, I know it’s old news, but every time I see it I can’t help but giggle a little bit. Never gets old!

I also thought it was an apple or cherry last year. I did see that it has ridges that are barely there, so I was like, "I guess it's a pumpkin." Lol

I’m so sorry to hear you what you went through, Jade. My mother had your exact symptoms several years ago, only hers actually came with numbness on her full right side. We went to the ER, but unfortunately the doctors at our location are NOT great at all…They never address our actual issues, just give us some asprin and take our money. So, we were basically forced to do our own research. We ended up finding this clip of a news reporter having my mother’s same “stroke” symptoms on live TV. Her symptoms of course turned out to be migraine auras, or ocular migraines. It’s still scary every time it happens, but Mom is the type of person who gets through everything with a laugh, so it’s gotten easier. Aphasia is absolutely one of the scariest symptoms, because she completely didn’t understand what we were saying-She interrupted the conversation and said, “What is ‘dog’?” That made my heart drop. I honestly thought it was something much worse than it was, but we sat with her and talked through things until the migraine finally passed. It was nearly 48 hours later when she finally understood all the words again.

I had a full on stroke (transient ischemic attack) October 2022 a month before I got pregnant. Like full on lost the ability to speak and went paralyzed on my left side, hearing your migraine story just gives me the chills because it was a horrible thing to go through. I actually got left with a cerebral venous angioma on the right side of my brain and had to have a scheduled c section so it wouldn't rupture if I tried pushing during delivery. Glad to see you're okay!

In my area we went to At Home 3 days ago and didn't see 1 piece of Halloween. Then my son in law went and seen some on the very top shelf above the 4th of July! It wasn't displayed for us short, fun-sized people! Lol. Needless to say, I went back lastnight and bought my 1st 3 pieces of Halloween decor 2024!!!

I have had a few of those migraine episodes myself. A little tip for your peace of mind during an episode. Check your smile. If your smile is normal, you're good. Put your arms straight out. If the left is staying up, you're good.

Hey Jade, I left a comment on your last video too; but just to say again, I'd definitely recommend that you have an MRI. Having any type of migraine can make you more suspectable to have other types of migraines, for instance I used to only get Ocular Migraines, then I developed Hemiplegic Migraines, they are the ones that cause stroke-like symptoms. You can also get something called a TIA (Transient Ischaemic Attack) sometimes called a mini-stoke, but they're not really mini-strokes as such, as they cause no permanent damage, whereas an actual stroke does, a TIA doesn't show up on an MRI because the symptoms are temporary, but a stoke and many other things will show up. I'd recommenced having an MRI with IV contrast. Ocular migraines cause vision issues along with the migraine, but it's mostly the hemiplegic migraines that can cause word aphasia and other symptoms that are stroke-like, like weakness down one side of the body. Migraines can leave White Matter Lesions on the brain, but the MRI will pick up on that if there are any. I was going to be a Neurosurgeon, but I'm chronically ill, so I couldn't carry on with my studies, but if you want to ask me anything at all, I'll do my best to help you. Thank you Jade - and everyone else - who shared your ocular migraine stories (and straight up stroke stories!) I have those kinds of migraines, too and have been dealing with some really serious brain fog lately. Nothing as bad as what you’ve all described, but I “lose the plot” as I like to say all the time. One minute I’m telling a story, or explaining something and the next I can’t even remember what I was talking about and cannot recall it at all. Even when people tell me what me what we were talking about. I don’t have health insurance right now, so I’m on my own and didn’t even think it could be related to these migraines. I’m also perimenopausal and I have chronic fatigue syndrome, so brain fog is quite common with those as well, but I’m so grateful to hear your stories and I’m so grateful to hear you all made it through and are ok! That aaaallllll being said, YAY HALLOWEEN DECOR HUNTING SEASON!! I was out at Home Goods today and saw not a thing … which is to be expected, but still. I couldn’t help but be a little sad. It’s ok! Soon enough it’ll be everywhere and I cannot wait! 🧡🎃🧡

I know you’ve been questioning whether or not to dye your hair orange again, and you should absolutely do it! I LOVE your silver hair, but I was watching some of your old videos and your orange hair was SO GORGEOUS!!! You should definitely do it!!!

Ocular migraines are so weird. I'm basically useless when I have one and just have to wait for them to go away. Glad everything turned out fine.

Ive had speech problems with a migraine like that. Right after my 4th baby, I had this one night where my husband and I were talking and then all the sudden I couldn't speak. Just like what you said, exact same feeling. All jumbled and confused. He thought I was joking and thought it was hilarious🥴 but then after my speech came back, I had the most PAINFUL cluster migraine for like 4 days straight. I started getting migraines around puberty too and this has only happened to me once. I was so scared. We migraine ghoulies need to stay hydrated babe.

I have experienced the same thing with my recent migraine (it came on at work and lasted two weeks, I was hospitalised and had a lumbar puncture, but it was all normal) and I have this as an aura for any migraine I now have, I know if my speech goes that I need to slow down before the full on migraine hits again! It’s not nice and I feel for you ghoul, hopefully you’ll never experience it again, hugs x

That's crazy, I went to to A&E last Thursday because I had numbness down one side of my body and fainted in a shop. I was thinking it might be a stroke. They couldn't find anything wrong but apparently there is a type of migraine where you get numbness but no pain. I have had an aura (ocular) migraine before, so it makes sense that I could get another kind. But it was freaking scary though! I had a panic attack in the shop because I had no idea what was happening to me. Glad you are ok. Love from Scotland.

Jade, I just want to say thank you so much for talking about your ocular migraines! I have been having “episodes” since I was a teenager with the exact same symptoms. I went to the er the first time it happened and they told me it was a panic attack, I’ve just lived with them ever since. I will be making a eye appointment now!

We put our hanging ghost on the side of a bookshelf and with the lighting in the room it works without having the goofy lighting 😂

I have all those symptoms too when I have really bad headaches that clap out of nowhere and its so scary. But nothing comes up and I am back to normal after I sleep or after a day or two.

Hi Jade, I have chronic migraine (15+ migraines a month) and I get that symptom where I can’t talk a lot. It’s actually how I know I’m getting a migraine and it’s time to take my meds! My husband picks it up before I do, I’ll be mid sentence and then just loose my brain. Lol. I’m so sorry you experienced it, it really is so scary! I’m glad you were able to visit the ER for peace of mind. Migraines are such a full body experience and so many people think it’s just pain in your head. Thank you for speaking about your experience and helping raise awareness about migraine!

I get it!! My hubby and I went hunting last weekend and didn't find anything. We expected that, but it was fun to search! The next day or so is when someone posted in the facebook group that their At Home got Hallween decor.

Scary! I had one of the migraine events when I was about 27 or 28 years ago and it was a nightmare. I'm glad you're okay. Love your videos and your keeping us in the Halloween mood all year round.

Hey ghoul! I have suffered from migraines since I was 9 years old. Now 41, I can say that I have also had episodes that have made me go to the emergency room. Twice it affected my speech, but mostly, I go blind on one side for a couple of days. Glad to know you're well. On a positive note, I also received my first Halloween decoration. I got the ghost and the witch from Cracker Barrel (I was lucky, both arrived in good conditions).

Jade I just wanna say thank you for talking about ocular migraines. I had them when I hit puberty from age 11-15. They were frightening but They went away. I had my daughter at 18, then my son at 28 which was June 2023. 3 days after having our son I had to be rushed back to labor and delivery because my vision went black. Long story short the ocular migraines came back and I had them EVERY single freaking day some days multiple times a day for the first 8 weeks postpartum. It was absolute hell. I became suicidal. I knew what it was like to have one because like o sad from age 11-15 I’d get them once every couple months. But postpartum it was EVERY SINGLE FREAKING DAY. I couldn’t do anything but take care of my newborn and watch my 10 year old daughter see me depressed and miserable. Long story shorter thankfully my doctor was right when she said it’s the hormone drop that causes it and at exactly 8 weeks it went away and I haven’t had one since and he will be 1 on June 10th. So 10 months ocular free! It’s traumatizing when your vision does it. The static zig zag kaleidoscope vision is scary. You just have to lay in the dark and let it pass. But when you have a 10 year old, newborn, and a husband back at work I was so depressed and suicidal. I got the help needed and thankfully it’s gone for now. I still have constant anxiety every time I see a dot in my vision(Im 99 percent sure it’s floaters lol)Thank you for making this mama not feel so alone.

When seasonal migraine attacks occur, I tend to lose my speech and get confused also. When there's bone crushing pain, I get a Tylenol pm and knock out in a dark room. Got me in trouble at work since a customer thought I was taking drugs on the job, but it was just a migraine making me loopy, ended up being asked to resign since "The customer is always right! especially the elderly!!".

I've experienced the ocular migraine symptoms, it's also known as having a Kaleidoscope Vision episode...which can cause a stroke.....very scary!

I get the same migraines! The first one I ever had made me lose my speech. I was driving alone and testing myself to say street signs and it came out as gibberish, I thought I legitimately had a stroke. Luckily now I get a hint that I’m going to have one with the “aura” showing up and take a bunch of meds before it can get to that point. I noticed my triggers are dehydration, lack of sleep, looking at my phone first thing in the am, and stress 😅

I really feel ya ghoul! I literally had one yesterday which made me miss my nephew’s bday. 😞 I’ve had 4 ocular migraines that have had those stroke like symptoms. They are scarier than any horror movie. Always brought on by bright light. 🖤☠️ You’re video really cheered me up!

I actually called The Home Goods in question in Olathe today before watching this video. The lady told me it wouldnt be until right after July 4th. She mentioned they already had it in but not opening it to put out yet. There are a few pieces I really want so dont wanna miss out.

Thank you for talking about what happened with your ocular migraine. I've gotten them for decades and I had no idea that they could cause aphasia symptoms. Usually I just feel a little off/wonky after one but it is good to know that these symptoms are also possible after one. And it's good to see you and Mr. Skeleton back on the Halloween hunt!

So maybe with the reaper guy in your bathroom you can create a spooky branch situation to hang around him. Hang branches on hooks or get some kind of spooky branch garland, so he’s like emerging from the depth of it. I think the green wall will really compliment it. Take care🖤

Jade just wanted to let you know that Pottery Barn got the first drop of Halloween decor and you have to check it out! Online, so cute....alot of black, really cute decor and throw pillows. It's not cheap but alot of the stuff I buy from there literally lasts for years and you can keep it up year around! You need the Halloween sheets from Pottery Barn, their sheets are so comfy and good quality. 🎃👻

Whoa! I’ve had ocular migraines for about 10 years ago. Happens about 6 times a year or so. Mine always last exactly 30 minutes. Never heard someone else mention them. I’m 47. ❤️👻

I’m so glad you went to the ER, sometimes having a stroke you don’t get all the symptoms, I understand that it wasn’t due to a stroke but I don’t want you to ever have to experience this again and think that it’s due to a migraine when it could very well be due to a stroke. Also mini strokes are a thing, you should ask your pcp for an MRI just to be safe.

Jade! I have ocular migraines too! They started when I was 19. Usually triggered by bright lights, flashing lights or sometimes when I game. It’s horrible. I completely lose my vision and then get the worst migraines ever. All I can do when it happens is go into a quiet dark room and sleep it off. So far I have not lost my ability to talk but it is so incapacitating. I hate it so much. I get them all year round. Prayers for you girl and hope it doesn’t turn into anything worse! 🧡 PS…Hey Mr. Skeleton, Hey! 😂😂

Wow, I’ve had this temporary vision loss before too! Never with the loss of speech, but it usually happens once a year in the summer when it’s super bright outside. Sometimes I’ll catch a flash of light and can hardly see out of one side of my vision for an hour or two, and can hardly do anything at all. It’s so disorienting. I never knew what it was, but I’m glad I’ve seen this video now! I’m so sorry you went though this and that you’re doing better now.

I have exactly that situation with my speech! I suffer from aura migraines too and have on 2 or 3 occasions had something that sounds very similar to what you described! The only thing that I had different was that my head felt horribly heavy head and a numb tongue. It’s terrifying! The doctor had no idea what it was. Never thought it could be linked to my migraines 🤔

I’m so glad it wasn’t a stroke and that it was just a horrible migraine. I had a stroke and had those symptoms plus numbness.

JADE!!!! Those were my exact symptoms!! I had this happen while I had my son 5y/o and my daughter 3 y/o in my tummy, I had regular migraines before that my whole life (very painful) and after. I haven’t had the ocular ones happen since they were born..(just regular ones)

Sorry about your migraine. I too get ocular migraines. I get the zig zag lights then it turns into a blind spot and I can't see. Then for some reason half my body goes numb, including my tongue. First time it happened I too, thought I was having a stroke. I went to the ER and they did a cat scan and diagnosed the migraine. I've had a few more since. Couple times a year. Not fun.

I have been experiencing ocular migraines for about 10 years now they started in my middle 40s. I have had where it starts out small and then visually fills my whole field of vision. It almost resembles a kaleidoscope. I cannot see when this is going on. I do have a migraine after a day or two later but I’ve never had problems with my speech. I hope everything is OK and I would definitely follow up with a neurologist just to make sure they are quite scary.

Fellow migraine sufferer here! Sounds like a hemiplegic migraine, which is something I had a couple of years ago. They closely mimic strokes, so I had to have various testing and scans in the ER to rule one out. The good news is, I haven't had one since so hopefully you never do as well. Continued healing vibes to you!
