Halloween Pirate FM radio reception

Tuning into a pirate radio station on 89.5MHz which broadcasted on Halloween in Socorro NM 2017 after I heard about it through e-mail.
This station called itself "Radio Subrosa" and broadcasted a variety of music and strange halloween sounds. The broadcast lasted for about 4-5 hours and at the end included stories and live listener request.

The voice on the radio sounds like you. Did you ever figure out where it was coming from, how much power they were using, height of antenna? Signal Sounded great even for a DYI FM transmitter.

Steve Hartman holy shit. You're absolutely right; the DJ does sound an awful lot like him, plus he's a radio guy with all the technical knowledge to pull this off. All he needed was to pre-record a program and have somebody turn the transmitter on for him.

Brett Cooper i love this guy Skyler, he inspired me to build my repeater with his videos. But its just too much of a coincidence, seem like this was his transmission and he just wanted to show it online. He just “got an email” and happens to sound just like the DJ? The URL to go to was cut off, so we can’t go check that. He normally makes videos on projects he’s working on, so this is just another cool FM transmission project, but he can’t come out and say it was him due to FCC issues, so he’s showing it off saying its some mystery person. Skyler, if you’re listening, I hope you posts more videos soon on radios and repeater projects!

You should have tried tuning off frequency or removing your car antenna if possible to weaken the signal and see if you could locate it. I have found several over the years this way. Of course DF'ing it would be much faster if you can attenuate the signal enough to do it.
