Note: The Transport Warthog was originally designed and modeled for early Halo 2 development. It was back ported and touched up for CE because it uses the CE Warthog as a base. In a future Digsite release, we may see two new Scorpion variants added to CE that were also conceptualized for Halo 2, as well as an early model for the AA Wraith.
The game has had unused boat physics the entire time, this is likely the first time they’ve been used since they were cut and I can’t imagine the programmer behind them is too happy about Bungie or modders ignoring them until now lol.
@@protocetid Water physics are like, an entire separate game on their own. The role of something like the doozy was always gonna be limited to a niche or gimmick unless they brought water to be a recurring part of the sandbox. More likely, the doozy seems like one of the many leftovers from it's original e3 incarnation as an open world game, where it might have served a greater purpose. A shame perhaps, but likely necessary for the time. I wonder if we'd ever see an aquatic based vehicle someday, but given how land, air, and space already function within the UNSC (using dropships to ferry and pick things up would be far easier on land with present designs) I'm doubtful, aside from maybe some kind of gimmick mission like Reclaimer (4). Ultimately though, unless you program around water (which acts as a convenient death pit or barrier) as part of your games ecosystem, it would be hard to integrate watercraft into the game.
I am going to assume the MP version of the Specter is indestructible like how the Ghost and Banshee were in multiplayer while the normal variant is the campaign one that can be destroyed. Also, I’ve played Halo CE for I don’t know how long and this was the first time I learned about the Leech. Overall, pretty awesome stuff from the Digsite team.
Campaign spectre has vehicle health, meanwhile mp spectre doesn't have health bar (similar to ghost). I don't know if there are more differences (most likely some stat changes if there are any), but I'm guessing that stealth tank was also supposed to have health before they decided to made human vehicles indestructible.
@@kx7500 it was implemented BY THE DIGSITE TEAM even though it debuted in halo 2. Yes I understand how time works just because you’re comment is eleven months old doesn’t mean it’s off-limits to reply to.
if you remember back at e3 2004 when they first showed Zanzibar the gauss model was firing rockets, but then they also had it firing gauss rounds in e3 2003 so who knows what they really wanted.
One of the Digsite articles did say they found an anime decal on something that they were guessing was a placeholder or joke, but it was a real character so they changed it for this release to avoid legal issues. I do wish they at least said what character it originally was.
We really need a multi man vehicle for other factions, instead of UNSC only. Revenant is the closest one able to deliver flags from one point to another, I hope something like Spectre gets added to Infinite in an update one day. :)
I would love to see the Doozy get a major speed boost and have crazy waterslide mario kart race maps made for it, as well as radically different water hazard CTF maps
The Troop Transport Warthog was planned for Halo 2. But it was cut so early in development that it ended looking too similar to the Halo CE Warthog. So that's why it was added to Halo CE and not Halo 2.
Technically, the Transport Hog that you’re showing off here did get officially added to the lore as an Insurrectionist vehicle, particularly as an improvised troop transport driven by the United Rebel Front if my memory is correct, though considering I haven’t checked Halopedia in quite some time, I could be mistaken.
Actually, now that I’ve checked the article in question, it would appear the vehicle in question got retconned into the M914 Recovery Vehicle by Jeff Easterling, with an added note that “343 can always change it if needed.” Just wanted to clarify since I don’t like giving incorrect information.
Just wanna note that the Kestrel in this video which was supposed to be in CE was later canonized at the JOV-99 Kestrel which was developed by Vestol Corp. (Same company that made the ROGUE Mjolnir armor set) for usage by the CMA in the outer colonies against the Insurrectionists. Misriah Armories then picked up the design during the Covenant war and developed the AV-30 Kestrel, which is notable for having a 3rd fan on the back. That is the one that is featured in the mobile game The Stealth Tank (the Viper) is also still canon in the Halo universe. The lore is that the tank was used during the Insurrection war with the outer colonies. After the Covenant war started, the tanks stopped being manufactured as Covenant tech was able to counter the stealth tech in the tank. Meaning it was more beneficial to put all resources into creating the heavier and more powerful scorpion tanks.
The "rocket" hog is just the Gauss hog before it was reworked into the halo 2 version. What the hell is that anime head logo on all of the warthog turrets?
It seems as if the stealth tank has a recoilless main gun, as it vents propellant out of the two vents on either side of the rear of the the turret. Or perhaps its just something bungie thought looked cool. Perhaps, if they knew what they were doing, the main gun on the stealth tank is designed to fire larger HE shells, and perhaps they added the recoilless gun to fire a larger shell for a given amount of recoil on the chassis. The HE detonation on impact looks a bit more impressive than the standard scorpion cannon.
Great video! Just recently got back into Halo via MCC and oh my gosh. So much nostalgia. I never knew this is what I needed in my life. Do people still do the campaign co-op? I have started a run through of it but do miss the having a battle buddy part from playing halo as a kid. Split screen halo 3 are some of my best middle school memories lol
Nobody else is mentioning it but the floating turret on the Spectre is the biggest tragedy of cut content. It would look perfect if it floated a little less.
Something I've noticed with the Kestrel is the particles that look like ejected shells from the guns seem to actually be the shots themselves. I can kill AI with them.
people said the doozy is currently bugged with the speed some need to tune it themselves until a fix happens because in the splash down map made by digsite they made the doozy faster
I personally find it annoying that the Kestral in Digsite is based on the Mega Blocs/Spartan Strike design and none of the actual concept art found in the Halo 2 Collector's Edition, I would've loved to see the Kestral's gunship design that looked like the Lifeboats but with rotors and weapons Bungie video of the concept art: ru-vid.com/video/%D0%B2%D0%B8%D0%B4%D0%B5%D0%BE-DWI7AhQFpTE.html
i actually asked the mod author about the anime girl head and yes they added it, but apparently there was a different one that was from bungie's previous game: Oni, so they swapped it for copyright reasons
I feel like some of these may have been from CE's RTS development stage. Some of these vehicles look like they were designed to be RTS units to me. Originally it was all going to be a myth style RTS, but the devs had so much fun controlling the units directly they decided on a third person action game and shortly after, first person.
I will say it bugs me that they had a more practical design for a tank that they cut prior to release considering whilst the Scorpion does look cool, it also looks super impractical with the four tread pods and the 80mm gun rather than the full treads and 110 or 120mm gun like the Stealth Tank seems to have.
God, that tank design is such a missed opportunity for Halo 2. Could have down-sized it a bit, lowered the damage and health, and replaced the tank on Delta Halo with three of these buggers. Give the UNSC a light tank to complement the Scorpion.
Was the Kestrel seen in some Custom Edition MP maps from the 2000s like RPG_Beta_5 a cut vehicle from the base game? Or was it built from scratch by a modder like OpsY? Also the controls for pelican style vehicles can be awkward to get your head around at first, but basically if you get stuck dragging on the ground hold the jump button to gain altitude, and crouch to descend.
Honestly while being able to acess these via mods is nice, I would like to have acess to some of this stuff in the main game too, that or let me continue to progress my achievements/chellenges ect in the non-eac mode :X
@@Espartanica Well yea, but at that point just loadup custom firefight, put damage recived to 0, and spawn with a sword or other power weapon. I'm just saying I'd like to be able to play with some of these cut items in a more official manner so I don't have to sacrifice personal progress for the expirence.
@@navybr0wnie Doing that also negates the challenges as far as I remember. EAC off also disables achievement progress so people can't cheese achievements. What I said before was just one example of many as to why having the EAC off for modding is better
@@Espartanica I think there might be a misunderstanding XD 1. The firefight thing I do all the time and it does not affect challenge completion. playing EAC on does not affect it either, I have no problem with that. 2. I don't mind EAC abeing off for modding that is 100% cool, I'm cool with that. 3. I understand the cheesing, I am not arguing against it. My only argument and the only thing I really care about is bringing some of this cut content into the official EAC active version of the game so I could play with my friends without them needing a PC, and also so I could complete challenges. irrelavent of cheesing, which is not what I wanted the content for in the first place. Hopefully that explains my position better.
This is as cool as the mod for Halo 4 for the Mammoth to be drivable and the Reach Pelican. The Mammoth works very well. Surprised they don’t make a huge map for btb where there’s two Mammoths for both teams. That you can all drive and fight each other. That would be bad ass for capture the flag.
Only thing I found wrong with The rocket hog is that it doesn’t have that mechanical sound effect when the turrret turns like in the first showcase of halo, very small detail but I really liked it. Can’t wait for the wild life to be revealed to us at some point
If we could get a proper remake of CE I would absolutely LOVE to see all of the cut vehicles, maps, enemies, and everything else the Dig site team has dredged up to be in it.
Hey General Heed can U spawn in Human AI in Halo CE missions 8-10 to check whether they would be hostile or allied to sentinels Also if this is possible can U do the same in Halo 2 herectic missions?
