Okay, so, the articles talking about the producers not playing the games only mentioned one, as only one producer was interviewed for it. The showrunner was also interviewed, as well as a representative at 343, and some of the actors. What the executive producer said, is that he didn't play the games, but that he also didn't think it to be the right choice to shove 20 years of lore into a single show. Jen Taylor said that she didn't think fans would want to see the exact same story again because that's what the games are for. She didn't make any of the creative decisions on the show, but that's her opinion nonetheless. And the showrunner (who has reportedly been replaced for season 2), said they didn't look to the games for inspiration because they didn't want the show to feel weighed down by the games. They did look at a lot of the lore though, including from the novels, and the showrunner even states that he took some characters that were mentioned once, and gave them a full backstory. Additionally, the show is not set in the same timeline as the games, so anything it does differently than the games or books (by virture of that alone) works. Regardless of how people feel about the changes. Anyway, I just thought I should clear up the issue, because everyone seems to either misrepresent the interview, or hasn't actually read the article, which misrepresented the interview.

Halsey definitely tampered with their memories in the book. They were trained from four or five to be literal weapons of death. Like getting dropped into snowy mountains and being forced to survive for weeks against soldiers using lethal force. Also, his original Blue Team (from the books) was John 117, Fred, Linda, Kelly, Fhajad (who gets crippled from the experiments), James, Lucy, and Sam (who sacrifices himself to manually detonate a Covenant mother-ship in the Fall of Reach book).

The one thing no one seems to care is that I was sure I knew that actor from somewhere but in my case it was because he reminded me of someone, which ended up being his brother, Liev... 😅

Also, if you haven't seen it, Forward Into Dawn is a great Halo movie and you'd enjoy it. It has fantastic effects and great acting.
