Halo 3: ODST Live Action Trailer HD "We Are ODST"
This is the full-length Halo 3: ODST Live Action Trailer, "We Are ODST" for the Halo 3: ODST game releasing on September 22, 2009 on the Xbox 360.
About the trailer:
- "The Marines were originally intended to speak Russian - according to Rupert Sanders during an interview... He acknowledges however that the ODSTs are actually speaking Hungarian." Apparently this is to reinforce the idea that Earth is united against the Covenant.
- The song is a "Welsh song..." and "...is a version of Café del Mar's "Light of Aidan - Lament", which is much lighter and softer in tone and melody." It seems the version in the trailer was specifically made for the it. The original is quite different and sung by a women with a much softer tone.
- Light Of Aidan - Lament lyrics from the trailer translated to:
"And my army of brothers went over the hilltops,
drenched in blood we may be...
but fighting is all left to me...
Together with my army of brothers...
down we fall... darkness in all... through hell!"
- Translated Dialogue (from Hungarian):
UNSC officer: Present arms!
UNSC officer: Fire!
UNSC officer: "Tarkov! Thirty, now!
UNSC officer: "Do you want to die? Do you? Faster! Go, go, go!"

(There's been a lot of discussion on the net about the song's lyrics and meaning. The info above is from halo.wikia, a.k.a. halopedia, as posted. But, some have noticed that when you put those words into a Welch translator it doesn't sound anything like the song. Daibanjo47 commented about the controversy and claims to offer the original Welsh lyrics and the proper translation as:
Gafflwn Dihenydd Or fuddugol yn wiriol sydd, Ni fydd neb yn ein drechu, Falch ydy ni I drochu, Traed o flaen Ir Annwn, mewn y gwybodaeth fe godwn ni.
We cheat Death from his rightful victory. No one can defeat us we are glad to plunge feet first into Annwn [the Celtic otherworld, which is like the halls of Asgard] in the knowledge that we will rise.

Originally called Halo 3: Recon, ODST is a new standalone, disc-based campaign expansion to Halo 3 where you play as an ODST (Orbital Drop Shock Trooper), instead of Master Chief.

The Halo: ODST is the best Halo trailer for me forever. Just because it show's you that Humanity is fighting a brutal and disturbing War against the Covernant, and that there are not only the "Hero" Spartans. No there are also normal Humans fighting a horrible War to defend their Earth. That's something i always missed in the Halo games, i always had the feeling:"Yeah well we are getting really fucked up by the Covernant but hey we have Spartans...and the normal UNSC Soldiers are just some idiots" Also you didn't really saw the distruction and sadness of that War, because most of the time you are on the Halo Rings or other Planets in Halo.

I agree. While odst was certainly a good game in the series, I think it would've been amazing if they'd made a spinoff fps game with completely different mechanics. It would turn out you had rose tinted glasses as a spartan. As a regular guy, bullets hurt, the covenant aren't easy foes you mow down in waves. You're not a superhuman Rambo that can just fire from the hip. Kinda like how Republic Commando portrayed the clone wars.

I do agree with you, except that the spartans are definitely wwaaayyy more hardcore. If you read the first two books, then you would have a real grasp of it. At a young age, the first spartans were kidnapped to be trained at a really young age. Once they do a shit ton of training, they then get the shots that increase their muscles, increase the strength and density of their bones, and faster reflexes... a very small amount of spartans are able to be put in combat, that is if they survive the shots, aren't disfigured from the shots, or survived the initial training. I sort of feel bad for Master chief/spartan 117/john or whatever you want to call him, because HIS spartans (the first gen) have a very serious relationship with each other, as in that they are all very very close. Master chief had to see him home world burn along with a lot of his brothers and sisters. They see nothing but combat, and the most emotional thing that they show was a slight gesture of their fingers which is pretty much the equivalent of them bawling their eyes out with snot coming out of their noses, because the chances of them seeing each other is immensely low, with all the suicide missions they go through. Not to mention all the criticism and judgement they still go through being seen as monsters/freaks a lot of the times

Ok, just imagine being a regular Marine or Army Trooper in this universe. You don't even get the fancy equipment and training with a Hungarian Special Forces team. They put you through basic, give you an Assault (or Battle) Rifle and say: "Go kill some aliens, son." Now imagine a dude that's a freakin' Sargeant in that universe (by the end of it, like Johnson). That guy's been fighting his whole career, since his "Basic, here's a rifle, kid" training and HE'S STILL ALIVE. Those guys, I believe, are the ones who deserve the most credit.

@@gurumanlives4231 johnson was pre spartain simple spec ops... as for his immunity to the flood... he has a form of plasma sickness, if im remembering right his unit was pinned in a covenant weapons dump and he and his couple survivng men detonated some odd thousand plasma grenades which fried his nerves to a degree... he was the only member still 'functional' despite the spaghetti his nerves were made into the spartan 2, the 2 is in reference to the first spartans back in the 300 era) they were not just chemically altered, they receiver cybernetics as well... such as when chief plugs cortana in, she's not in his helmet, she's litterally in his head in a bio mechanical computer...

I am still surprised to this day as to why we have not gotten a gritty halo Saving Private Ryan or Band of Brothers telling the story of regular boots on the ground space marines (or soldiers. UNSC Army would be super cool). It's definitely a missed opportunity to allow the Halo franchise to expand!

Honestly, I know nothing of welsh but after comparing the English and welsh lyrics and listening to the song I was able to pick up the words that are being sung at key points to figure out the translation. The last part of the song is important because it takes out the line "no one can overcome us" and instead goes forward to say that they are glad to plunge into annwn (also known as welsh Asgard, a place where warriors go when they die. This can also be translated into hell because it can cause suffering for those who wish to rest) instead of saying nobody will beat them, they welcome death with open arms and await their rebirth "in knowledge that we will rise" is most easily understood as "knowing we will be born again". Enjoy the song guys, I've picked these lyrics and translation up from the original songwriter but the full understanding of the lyrics is being posted here for everybody to enjoy! 😁

I want a Halo game with the scale of Planetside 2, or an ODST game that drops you feet first into hell, right into the middle of a gigantic battle. It would be cool to have a Halo game where the bullets and plasma act as it does in canon so there is actual danger from getting shot. Just Imagine this: You drop from a frigate in a pod. You land, the door blasts open revealing a warzone breaking out in front of you. Green and blue plasma rounds pour from out of the dust and scatter the air around you, lucky rounds hitting unfortunate soldiers who drop to the ground. There is not much you can do but to fire back into the dust and hope you hit something. Plasma mortars soar overhead and smash into a mongoose, vapourising the driver and his vehicle, covering the area in white and blue flame. A Warthog races by, gunning down a group of enemies and starts shooting at a Ghost in the distance. Pelicans, Spirits and Phantoms drop vehicles and infantry on opposite sides of the frontline. High above the battlefield, Hornets and Falcons go head-to-head with Banshees. Those who are unfortunate enough to be shot down crash to the ground that is already littered with destroyed vehicles and corpses riddled with bullet holes and plasma wounds. Off to the side, a convoy of Scorpions, Machine gun and Gauss Warthogs fire their way through no man's land to get through and flank the Covenant forces. The map is a large open-world area, and you can hop into any vehicle you find (however you may be shot by friendly forces while in a Covenant vehicle). There is no specific objective in this mission except for pushing back the Covenant forces. Just kill anything that isn't human, and try to stay alive.

One of the best trailers in game history (if not in Trailer's history in general). This is the main reason why I think that a Halo film/series--if we get any--should have the ODST as the main focus instead of the Spartans.

343 better make a ODST 2... And they need to put a good stealth system. Detachable/attachable silencers on SMG's, pistols, snipers etc. Carrying dead bodies, blending into the shadows... Just make it a "Halo game with only one big mission". Story: You drop down into a city... **blahblahblah** ...you need to find survivors... **blahblahblah** ...contact the UNSC... **blahblahblah** ...evacuate the city... **I think this is getting old** ...then, BOOM! You won.
