Despite the hundreds of times I've played Halo CE, I only just realized that the pillar of autumn turned and actually overtook the pod, I originally thought the pod did a 180 and flew under the autumn for dramatic effect
@@mwbgaming28 yup, "Keyes is going in manual" our homeboy is straight nosediving the autumn singlehandedly into halo and survives the crash. We know how he dies tho RIP :(((
@@hermitguy102 He's on a lifeboat and shoots a cloaked elite, the first elite to be named, in the head, and tells the marine that it's a good pistol, after asking the marine to inspect it, before using it on the elite.
@@Silverphoenix36912 They ruined nothing. The cutscene is exactly the same except it looks vastly superior. The only alteration is the music, which I always switch to "Classic". You have options, use them. It's not like 343i removed the cutscene, removed the Marine dialogue, or even added a different cutscene. Take off the rose tinted goggles and accept that a remaster exists for those that want it, while the classic version is still very much playable and 343 are currently working their rear ends off to fix the bumpmapping issue created by GEARBOX SOFTWARE back in THE EARLY 2000'S. Not 343's fault at all.
This scene, more than any other scene in movies and games, imo, captures the sheer sense of scale with a moving body. The Autumn isn’t moving slow like in today’s common depictions of titanic machines. It’s moving fast. And, unlike other attempts, in this scene you feel it.
0:50 this shot is such a masterpiece. Keyes pulling a power move by divebombing the Pillar of Autumn onto Halo, trumpets blaring as Covenant plasma slams into the side, the lifeboat so close you can almost hear the engines pushing.
Its clear anyone whos watching this video that Halo had a huge impact on us and our childhoods. The shot and atmosphere at 0:51 till the end is so incredible. The way the pillar of autumn complete dwarfs the escape pod, and the camera shakes as the plasma explodes on both sides. The trumpets heroically blare as the marines venture to unknown terrortiy in the emptiness of space. "Heads up everyone, this is it" 1:03 the Drop pod begins to burn up in the atmosphere, Cortana voices her concern and the Chief stays stoic and confident. 1:08 this shot is incredible and there's no turning back, Cortana remarks "If I still had fingers they'd be crossed." Which is a great line, the trumpets are louder than ever and in moments we would all step onto the Halo ring for the first time. Truly a magical moment in our lives.
It's not all of it because billions a people remember him saying "we will," which was even more bad ass, even if none of them did make it. It was the start of many cool scenes of master chief to kick off the games flow for how much of a cool uplifting person he is, i stop playing the "Remade version because not only did they removed that critical simple sentence, they lie and make it dam near impossible to find the original one, everyone that still as a strong working brain remembers saying "i guess not" as well when they crashed landed and you see that no one but you made it, and 343 is not at all the people i want serving up my halo, they tryed to remove the soul of it in their snakish ways! I Will not have any of that, it's a bloody sham. No thank you!
I always thought that this cutscene, although badass, was a little strange. I'm now just realizing why! The escape pod, the Autumn, and Covenant plasma beams all made no sound ! I'm so used to hearing laser sounds in space battles, but of course in reality there would be none. This realization makes me love this scene even more!
Way back when, my friend was watching me play and at 1:11 he didn't realize difference between Cortana's voice and the pilot's and he said "What?! Is she driving with stubs???"
Not sure it’s the most badass line but the ending scene of ‘pillar of autumn’ in CE. Cortana says: “Wouldn’t you rather take a seat?” Chief: “We’ll be fine” All this time, it always stuck with me.
At 0:45 its like the marine doesn't know that the plan is to land on the ring and also believes the pilot is on pot and says "Marijuana! She's been hit!"
“Most of the crew-not to mention your fellow jarheads-will be leaving the ship in lifeboats. They'll ride to the surface in air-conditioned comfort, sipping wine, and nibbling on appetizers. Not you, however. Oh no, you're going to leave the Pillar of Autumn in a different method. Tell me boys and girls... how will you leave?"
Halo is the reason why I still have an Xbox Original, I got Halo Combat Evolved and Halo 2. Never had Halo 3 tho. This scene is the opening for one if the greatest missions in video games. We have to protect as many Marines we can.
coming back and reliving these scenes as an adult and not a dumb kid, i have a much better appreciation of the background details and how godly it was for its time
Tragic really, everyone on board that pod dies except for the Chief, and he only survives because of his armour. Crash still knocked him out for some time. "We'll be fine" barely chief, barely.
man, i miss games like this. halo 2 wasnt even as good. and havnt even tried 3 yet. But every part was just taken to the extreme. Keyes flighing the pillar into halo. echo 419's selfless decisions. epic
it has been now 20 year's since this very game first came out. so halo has been in our heart's for 2 decade's. no other shooter's have ever come close. i say let us all pay tribute to this very scene that kickstarted it all.
And this scene ladies and gentlemen would ultimately kickstart the greatest Xbox video game series and Master Chief into global stardom!! Always will be a part of my childhood and Master Chief John 117 will forever be my one true hero even as a fully grown man over 20 years later.😎😎🔥🔥
Theory: master chief is dead. He was killed in the crash landing of this escape pod and the events of the halo series were just his final thoughts before dying.
she was a physical AI onboard the autumn where she could technically cross her AI fingers, But since in this scene she's present in Chief's Mjolnir Suit Architecture she,s technically in the background unable to cross her fingers
It took me until last year to realize the marine was talking about the autumn, I always just thought it was panicked screaming about having to land on a space ring
too bad that the 0:35 proportions of stuff are completely destoyed by how fast is the landscape moving and how close the shuttle is from the Ring, making it seem too big compared with its actual size
I am wrong in saying that 117 has magnets or anti gravity boots? Would it be fair to ask, if not impact... what killed those marines? It does look like a rough landing, but all of them?
@armorhide406 On the original soundtrack, it's called "Brothers in Arms". On the re-recorded Anniversary soundtrack, it's known as "Bravery, Brotherhood".
God! This scenes is so epic! I remember the first time I watched and played this and landing on the ring. THIS was a whole new experience. The way Halo unfolds before you as you exit the Humble Bee has to be the most fantastic experience I have ever had since day one! Halo is so beautiful and technological. I want to live there when I die! 😌
keep in mind these rings are 10,000 miles in diameter, and at the speed it appeared to be going at, they'd hit the surface in probably under a minute, meaning they were going anywhere between 350,000 to 600,000 miles per hour in that drop pod.
