“I just pray that the next game launches feature complete” I remember hearing the same thing after Halo 5 while we were all waiting for Halo Infinite. 😅
Its the players who wanted generic gun only gameplay instead of HALO 5s insanely fun, expansive selection of vehicles, melee weapons and actual sci fi guns. HALO 5 Warzone is still the funnest FPS experience. Games with actual sci fi vehicles u can play with basically don't exist in gaming too
I think it is fair to expect graphics not to take a big step downhill. The comparison of phantom explosions in Infinite where they just play a bang noise, white out the screen, and it's gone vs 3 where they dropped debris objects ... that just looked mailed in.
Yes the explosions were bad, but that’s not what he’s talking about. He’s talking about 4k graphics. Why are games 100gb? 4k graphics. Why did halo infinite have 1 biome? 4k graphics. Why do they take 6-8 years to make? 4k graphics. If people weren’t so obsessed with realism, and instead graphics was treated as an art form we’d actually have a lot better games.
@@timothywatkins4989 Exactly, I feel like a lot of peoples priorities are out of wack. Almost every triple A game nowdays is nearly photorealistic, but that doesnt make them good. If they used the time they spent optimizing the game for dense polygons and high res textures and used that time to properly develop their story, art style, and avoiding putting the devs through crunch so they keep their passion for their job, Halo would be in a much better spot now.
@@TrueTributes13 It's not possible to get the AAA funding without the suits because all the anticompetitive practices that exist. All the indie developers sell out nowadays.
@@icravedeath.1200 The most successful media product for a decade with a massive rabid content hungry fanbase that already is shown to pay full price for complete crap. . .Owned by one of the world's largest corporations that directly thanked this franchise for breaking them into the gaming and console market. The Xbox was known as the halo box too back in the day. Also owned by a company that is willing to blow 100billion dollars in aquisistions every year and not invest in any product development. Spends nothing on development and then nickel and dimes their fanbase. Needs to cut back on development (which they never attempted to do) needs to scale back. That take is wild.
Halo CE had a great Single Player campaign you could enjoy on your own, then use said campaign as a Trojan Horse to make your friends join your play sessions via coop, and finally, once the controls and game-mechanics were understood, play against each other in split-screen and have Lan-parties. I'd argue, that without Halo's campaign, Halo would never have become the phenomenon and system seller Microsoft so desperately needed at the launch of the Xbox. It spread like wildfire through my neighborhood, that's for sure.
Halo campaigns with split screen were the kind you could fall in love with as a kid with your friends trying different attempts and discovering cool easter eggs too.
well at this point it is kinda crazy, usually it takes 3 years for the next full game, not some little story expansion. if by some miracle the release a story dlc i would be pissed because yet again they would be so far behind previous games. if they're smart they'll turn whatever dlc plans the have into the next full sequel.
Well wanting campaign DLC isn’t delusional, people can want things, however expecting campaign DLC could be considered that considering how halo infinite has been.
@@nickm5419that was originally stated to be the plan for infinite actually, DLC support for 10 years... That that was out the window on release is irrelevant.
The only thing that I can think of that will make the whales stop is if people start grieving them to the point where they don’t want to spend the money any more, sad but unfortunately true
I grew up playing halo with my dad and they was probably some of my favorite games (other than 5) I had never played multiplayer until infinite and even now my favorite thing is the campaign of being able to follow the cheif on his adventures
We should get a multiplayer mode that is also lore accurate to the campaign. I would be such a cool idea to have a similar mode like invasion from halo reach but theres different player classes to play as not just Spartans vs elites. Imagine you can play as marines ODST troopers and Spartans. And you could also play as jackals grunts and elites at the same time! It would even open up more options for microtransactions so 343 can feel good about themselves
@@soup8680 And Halo is a good franchise. All the more reason they should make a *good* addition to the series. Learn from the past, innovate on it, and give what players want. Add micro transactions if they must, but make them *worth* buying.
I’ll say it again, a big portion of the ppl buying shop bundles are halo content creators. I see it all the time on Twitter. Doesn’t matter how big or small they are.
@@emperorfridgethedude also oftentimes because they outsource so much contract employees anytime a bug happens the person who probably did the work is gone. Slipspace has been fairly updated compared to the blam engine limitations and is pretty much the same as Tiger engine. Which destiny uses so I doubt it's that problematic
Straight up agree I fell in love with the story it's the primary reason I still play the games the multiplayer has always been a cool bonus but infinite just makes it feel like a negative component that's harmed both the story as well as the sandbox with it's mishandling
Really wish Microsoft would open up Halo’s IP to fans and indie developers. Me and my friends have been working on a multiplayer game that would be a Halo mega bundle - as well as having all the classic game modes, we’re also working on a lot of new game modes; the 20v20 games are probably my favorite. The two are one where the UNSC fights to destroy an approaching Scarab while Covenant defend it, and the other one has the UNSC and Covenant fight the other off the planet to destroy the enemy capital ship - though there are *many* more than just those. As for style, we’re trying to take after EA’s Battlefront, with high resolution graphics and skyboxes with textures that hold up to this day. We’re also planning on handing it like EA’s Star Wars Battlefront; the “store” only offers weapon and equipment unlocks, and currency is rewarded based on score earned in games, with optional challenges that unlock new weapons or equipment. It’s not exactly an original idea, but I can say with confidence that it would fare infinitely better than the current Halo multiplayer - pardon the pun. Moreover, we’re going to do live service the right way - we’ll be adding more weapons, vehicles, equipment, maps, etc. as time goes on, making sure it has a nice long life cycle. Unfortunately, though, as Halo’s IP isn’t open to indie devs, we can’t release the game publicly. I might make a devlog, might not, but whatever the case may be I’ll still work on it in the hopes that the IP does eventually open up.
Sorry but they can't just open up their IP for everyone to use. It's a very complicated thing, but there would be many issues with that. And I do like your ambition with this project, but just looking at it through the outside I don't think it would fare well against Halo Infinite or another Halo multiplayer, at least as a long-term project. One of the big advantages Halo would have is of course the in-depth Forge mode, and in general Halo still has amazingly tuned and great gameplay. I wish your project the best, but it does seem like quite a big undertaking.
We can't keep asking for things purely based on polling. It's like creating a poll with the knowledge your results will inevitably be skewed with bias. DLC takes a significant amount of more resources than the average micro, so of course we so more of it than we do DLC these days, however; we still less DLC more so than micros because they cost so much. Never as much as the original game, but an amount worth th question of: "Will enough people buy it?"
Campaign in general needs a mode where your playing as your spartan that you create in multiplayer, so in cutscenes you get to see your spartan in full glory,
*The Banished were literally gonna have a Guta like beast called the Crusher that they could ride or it would turn on the Banished if the colar was shot off.*
Halo Infinite's campaign without all the side quests was half a campaign worth of missions that's why people want campaign DLC. Imagine if Halo Reach ended right after Jorge died.
The thing is if a game is supported well with a mix of campaign, sometimes even campaign dlc, new sandbox items in multiplayer etc, people will be more likely to buy their microtransactions if they are priced fairly
The campaign has always been important but I grew up having lan parties so for me the custom games and the eventual addition of forge are what makes halo, halo
The campaigns are the main bit of the game, in the past not everyone could play multiplayer so thats kind of a bonus thing that you can spend endless hours on after you beat the meat of the single player (cuisine style)
The campaign and story makes you involved with the game and franchise. It hooks you into the games. A game without story is just that. A game and nothing else. Its harder to invest your time and attention to it. Some games manages to, most dont.
Yeah, I've always been heavily invested in the story of Halo. From the books, comics, games and encyclopedia. Even the shows/movies (let's not talk about the paaramount show). Halo was the main reason why I even bought an Xbox. If the they don't invest in a great story/campaign for the video game it really kills the interest in all the other work they are doing for the franchise.
The jump in graphic quality on earlier consoles was way more noticeable and therefore expected and sought after. Nowadays, the difference in graphics is *almost* unnoticeable. They should be focusing on delivering a good narrative campaign. Create characters that everyone likes and that's what will sell your skins in multiplayer.
Man you took the words straight out of my brain and communicated what I bet I couldn't with my own words 😭 I'm a relatively new fan and am working through the game campaigns one by one, and all I want right now is honestly a halo: ODST 2. I literally don't care if the graphics aren't good, I just need more story to get invested in and get hooked on...
Like I said before, a Ghosts Of Onyx game would be amazing, gives the Spartan 3's so much more love and lore and explains what blue team was up to prior to halo 5
I would really like to see the spirte of fire entering the main line of the story, seeing the Chief fighting with the Red team against Atriox, after all he defeated them all so them together for a rematch would be epic and about campaigns like DLC, I believe that if Halo 5 had an entire main campaign with the blue team and an expansion with fireteam osiris, even if the plot of the story was the same, we would have an epic game and we wouldn't be where we are today
Remember that they started a survey on how infinite was, asking us about the flood, and the arbiter. I wouldn't be surprised if the next halo game has the Arbiter and the flood in it
Ima be honest you can make a good dlc and at the end of the game you can get a new armor core as a reward. I don’t wanna create new memories if I have to spend my money on armor every season, that’s dumb. Mostly all the cool cores are behind pay walls. You can’t even earn free halo coins to even purchase battle passes. And idk how to feel about the free pass also.
Looking at the DLC vs Cosmetic profit is leaving out one crucial detail, what the audience for the game is like. Some player-bases don't spend big on cosmetics or loot-boxes if tolerate them at all and this is what gaming execs miss, you can't put in monetisation and for it to have the same impact as if it was in DOTA or CSGO.
one thing I love to do in any Halo game is to explore the maps because I have fun making up my own stories in my head. Infinite's open world was amazing but it gets less and less interesting after a while
I almost cant find any Games in Infinite except for Husky Raid and super Fiesta no matter on what time of the day but I dont want to Play only these Playlists all the time. Any solutions?
I seriously hope they utilize the story plotpoints and characters from Halo Wars 2 in some future mainline Halo game. Ive been a lifelong Halo Wars fan, going all the way back to when they released the demo for the 360, I'd kill to get some closure on those characters. And it would work gameplay wise too. Need a lore reason for 4 player co-op? Reintroduce Red Team and the Spirit of Fire and show the bond between these long lost brothers and sister. Seeing Chief and Red team finally reuniting and just being able to see 4 Spartan II's in the Mjolnir Mark IV and VI would be so fucking sick. Id love to see the Spirit of Fire suppling ground troops and heavy armor for a huge raid on the Banished or just something fucking interesting. Microsoft has really slept on their golden spartan and it makes me sad :(
My hope is that over time, AI can do more of the legwork in some time (and money) consuming areas like art design, QA & 3d modelling that the cost of single player campaign development comes crashing down from over $100m for AAA games... publishers can then take more risks
Story is what makes people remember a game. It's the same reason that although I think Helldivers 2 is a fantastic game, because it has no proper campaign I have no emotional connection to it or any of the characters.
If you could replay campaign missions using your custom Spartan (similar to Spartan ops but larger scale missions akin to Halo 3/Reach), it’d give greater incentive for devs to work on worthwhile missions and for players to invest in their Spartans more. I enjoy unlocking armor sets for multiplayer through in game achievements, but if the suits really want to push these microtransactions I feel this would be a decent middle ground.
I seriously thought that the seasonal story content for Infinite was going to be Spartan Ops style missions and the fact that it wasn't is probably my biggest disappointment with the game tbh.
Me and my friends have tons of hours chilling in Reach Customs and having tons of fun, but, we never really played matchmaking, aside from some odd Infection or Swat; our happiest memories -my- happiest memories, are of the hours spent playing through the campaigns together, doing all sorts of dumb stuff (Especially accidental friendly fire...) and just having a fun time. For us campaign is a slower chiller experience where we just get to relax as opposed to matchmaking which is more focused and competitive, so yes, I do want more campaigns, I don't mind Infinite's matchmaking, but, -what keeps me coming back to Halo- my memories, are in the campaign.
@@Xenomorpheusss UE5 is a third party engine with a dedicated company behind it. If you have issues with the engine, you can reach out to Epic and they'll help you resolve them. It's in their best interest, because they're going to get a cut of your game. Also, the graphics truly are second to none. It's arguably the best looking Engine out there. It can be pretty demanding, but just about any engine ever made is better than Slipspace. That's not the fault of the full-time devs, it's more on MS for getting rid of the contractors who understood it and helped develop it.
@@Harrison.DuRant Also, 343 and Bungie use branching versions of the BLAM engine for their Destiny and Halo games, and both games have begun to suffer for it from the engine becoming harder and harder to work with in the modern era. Bungie I hear intends to do a BIG do-over of their version within the next year or 2, while rumor holds that 343 intends to move away from it altogether in the future.
@@ButFirstHeLitItOnFireFortnite has a built in "creator" mode that is essentially UE5 in fortnite. Unreal is the best engine for adding something like forge and mod support on top of that.
you have to wonder what the poll results would have looked like if we had gotten significantly more campaign content than MP in infinite and the roles had been reversed. what if people are just missing the campaign vibes right now and are tired of stale infinite MP.
I would settle for just being able to play the Campaign again. did 1 play through and some sort of update came out and now I cant even launch the game if I have the Campaign downloaded. also I just realized that the Campaign is actually a DLC to the Multiplayer......
Still comes back to the same problem as always. Until the player base learns to keep their wallets shut and say no to cash shops and macrotransactions, the companies will continue to shovel up slop.
I would pay good money for a "Prelude to Infinite" play as the other Spartans in Zeta halo during those 3 months that John 117 is floating around in survival mode. Relive Spartan Griffin and company a la Noble team on Reach. The audio logs make the efforts and missions sound like a solid idea for DLC
I hope the next game expands on Infinite and its sandbox rather than stay at the same level. Hopefully it’d be easier for them especially if they use Unreal Engine
Different biomes more guns more life good story and they could talk to ex bungie devs not give it to bungie but talk to ex bungie devs and get some advice
Even when they started infinite with the cutscenes showing our spartans that was pretty damn cool. Didn’t mind if they kept doing that but building on the lore. Halo infinite is currently a playable shop. I’m not going to buy anything because they haven’t added a new gun or vehicle . If they did , I would have no issues buying stuff in the shop.
Exactly, buying in the shop should mean support for the development of new features and content, while now they are using forge made stuff(by the community) for the most part
The Original Thrilogy was so good because you knew what was happening between all the narrative. H2 you knew it was not much time after, and H3 same, was just one history, simple and direct and the spin offs or books were just to expand that history or to tell you another one, the Reclaimer Thrilogy was just bad because you didn't know wtf was going on between those lines, H4 wasn't that bad because you knew it was going to be something new, but H5 omg, and in Halo Infinite they keep the history some simple and wasn't that bad but to knew all the history between you'll need to read comics, books, a fkn color book and omg, that really need to change
I never had friends who plahed Halo as a kid since I grew up in a period of which the glory days of Halo multiplayer had already passed. I had an original Xbox and played the campaigns of Halo 1 and 2 very regularly. I know a lot of fans only play them once a year or something like that, but I always found new things to do in the missions and it kept me occupied during a troubled childhood. Halo 2 is more important to me than any physical thing I could have. I'm cautiously optimistic for Halo 7's campaign, but even so, not a single 343 campaign has felt like Halo to me. They really do need to get this next one right. Thanks for making this video, Mint. You're probably the only community member 343 is still listening to.
Elden Ring, one of my favorite games of all time, re-uses animations, textures, terrain formations, assets, sounds and has sub par texture resolutions. NONE of that matters because of how good the game is. Polishing a brittle rock to make it shiny doesn't fix the fact the rock isn't structurally sound.
the campaigns are what made me fall in love with the series. i enjoyed the multiplayer on each game (some i liked much better than others, looking at you halo 4 and 5), but the campaigns are why i always came back to halo. that’s why i dropped halo 5 so goddamn fast, that’s why i freaked the fuck out about infinite’s potential only for it to underdeliver, i’m just incapable of putting my faith in 343 at this point. between their lack of focus on campaign and the sheer number of retcons and direction changes, i can’t get invested without all these things and more bothering the hell out of me. these were never problems with the bungie games, just saying
I love the Halo multiplayer games. I have definitely spent more time playing the multiplayer than the campaign. The question for me is, would you play the multiplayer without the campaign or would you play the campaign without the multiplayer? Campaign all the way.
Your point about the graphics isn't that what happened to Infinite when they did the first gameplay reveal, and 343 had to go back and fix them? Also, I think a lot of people forget that when Joseph Staten joined up with 343, they basically redid Infinites' entire campaign in like a year, so it's almost a miracle that Infinites is actually good.
