God damn, 18 years ago?? I remember when I got mine in 2003. It was the Mechassault + Star Wars Knights of the Old Republic bundle pack. The next game I got was Halo. I loved Mechassault but it was KOTOR and Halo that made me a gamer.

you missed a LOT in Halo 5. if you dont want anything spoiled, dont read, but if you dont care (and i wouldnt blame you, 5 was kinda crap) read on. very basically, Chief gets a message from presumed-dead-Cortana that she's on some Forerunner world, UNSC decides to send Fireteam osiris (Locke, Buck, and those other two people nobody cared about) to find her instead of Blue Team (Chief, Linda, Kelly, and Fred), Chief doesn't like that and goes AWOL. they find Cortana who was integrated into a Forerunner system that fixed her rampancy, but also kinda made her power-mad, finally gave her clothes, and gave her a really annoying overprotective dad robot called the Warden Eternal who makes up like 60% of the boss fights in the game. she comes up with the idea to conquer all sentient life and force it to live under absolute rule of artificial intelligence, which she now believes superior. Chief, after a few adventures against Locke and making his way TO Cortana, tries to convince her otherwise, but fails and is put in stasis by her. Fireteam Osiris goes and tries to stop Cortana (after failing to stop the Chief from getting to her in what was probably the most boring animated fist fight in human history), fails horribly but DOES manage to save Chief from Cortana before she escapes, and the game is left on a cliffhanger where basically Cortana is using massive Forerunner robot things to conquer everything and also took control of a Ring, but that is pretty much where it was left off. we have no idea why Chief is in space all of a sudden, or what happened in between then and now, or if that Ring in the trailer is even the same one Cortana had, though that is the most logical assumption. we have no idea where the giant hole in it came from or what is going to happen from here. and for all we know, maybe ALL Of that, AND halo 4 could have just been Fever dreams John had while in cryosleep aboard the Forward Unto Dawn and THIS is when he actually wakes up for the first time. given the empty AI chip, thats pretty much debunked, but i thought it was a funny theory at least.

I played Halo 5, but the ending doesn’t explain why he’s up in space! *SPOILERS* At the end of Halo 5 the last time we see Chief, he and Blue Team (Kelly, Linda, and Fred) and I believe Locke’s team as well, landed on Senghelios (Elite Home world) where the Arbiter and Halsey were. Chief finally meets up with Halsey after so many years of being apart and she says “Took you long enough.” and then the game ended. So how in the hell did Chief end up in space and next to (what looks like) the remains of Installation-04 (the original Halo Ring)?????
