HALO NEWS - New maps, CO-OP, Forge, and My Thoughts 

I'm like you are, I dont get TOO salty about things that 343 does. But I agree, it just makes me feel like cringing like "oh man this is gonna make lots of people mad" and it makes me sad cause Halo is my fave series, and seeing all this negative news around it doesn't sit right. Im hoping only for good things, I want Halo Infinite to prosper.

2 maps is bare mimimum I expected, but I was hoping it'd be at least 3. In whatever case it doesn't look like Season 2 will bring too much hype back to the game.

Happy to know when we can expect something. But I’m with you man, I’m really needing more then 2 maps.

Honestly I feel like with the backlash on how the graphics looked at the E3 they pushed there priorities towards to fully focusing on the graphics. Which they did a fantastic job on. But in the end they didn’t let themselves work on content as well.

When Doom comes into halo for that new armor core set

I'm a programmer by trade, I'm very understanding of the delays. That being said, I'm still a Halo 3 player in my heart before a Halo Infinite player, and the content and shop situations are still pretty rough for Infinite.

Remember when people hated halo 5s launch content? They added so much more stuff into halo 5 in 3 months then infinite has. The campaign was so good but this multiplayer though.... we likely wont get forge till like november for petes sake

Eh, I'm not too worried. 2 new maps+ a smattering of other content is fine by me for the next season, especially considering that back in the Halo 3 days you ONLY got 3 new maps and nothing else every 3-5 months or so.

Tease of a new map and it's the environment we were stuck looking at half of campaign...(edit: good discussion in comments kinda changed mind but still lol)

Im absolutely loving the forerunner design in this game.

Forge Mode not coming out til season 3 is really rough, and hopefully not too late. New maps and modes that probably should've been there at launch, might not be enough to keep the player base alive for that long

It would be so cool, if each armor core had its own level that then gets added to your account level. So playing games with that armor core levels it up to a cap of like 50. So right now we would be able to go to level 150, but when they add new armor cores it increases the level cap. Seems like a lot but higher numbers are more rewarding.

What I will say is my expectations for this update were met. My friends told me I'm crazy when I told them I'm expecting 2 maps. Maybe one big team and one arena. They said nah there will be more. So I'm not disappointed or anything. I'm just sad.

This is like the only halo channel that doesn’t feed the hate train on infinite. As someone who still really enjoys infinite, that’s something I appreciate a ton

I find it hard to wrap my head around how a game that had $500 million budget ended up like this. But it is what it is. Season 2 feels like its basically the end of the beta phase of the game, but where is Infection? Griffball? Where are a lot of the mainstays of the franchise? You are spot on about players feeling burned. I have friends that can't even imagine coming back to the game at this point and they've already uninstalled. If Forge launches with no custom game browser or means of file sharing, what's the point? I can see people coming back if they boom with content and get lucky with stream viewership of all the fun stuff only Halo can provide, but I don't see that happening, at least for a long time. Something I would personally want is the return of Firefight or something PVE related, maybe Spartan Ops Season 2 since they are talking about having an ongoing story for the multiplayer. The two new maps sound fine, but not different enough to get players interested, I suspect. If they announced a remake of a beloved map, that would certainly pique the interest of fans. Imagine Guardian, Valhalla, or Santrap. Something classic, something people love, but with a new aesthetic. I know 343 said they aren't interested in remaking old maps but I think that is the wrong call. I will personally come back now that my CQB helmet will finally be in the game, but damn does it feel whack that they advertised it for Season 1 only to delay it. Speaking of armor, Cross-Core needs to happen. I really don't think that can wait. At least allow helmets, colors, and accessories. The game became so stale for me and the weekly challenges leave me with a persistent frown on my face, so I didn't even grind the Tenrai event. Just stopped feeling worth it a long time ago.

The only reasonable bombshell type reveal I see them doing for season 2 is a new weapon. I'd want to ask for multiple yet that doesn't seem possible given their current content pace, but I could see plenty of interest generated from either a returning favorite (sticky detonator pls) or a completely new weapon

The preview image for the new BTB map makes me worried, we already have a BTB map with that big banished base as the main focal point, Deadlock. I'm hoping we don't end up with a warzone situation where most of the maps are basically just the same thing but with a different coat of paint on em. Here's hoping it at least promotes vehicle gameplay, as scuffed as infinite's vehicles are right now. Actually looks more like the tower than deadlock's big AA turret, still hope it plays uniquely enough though.

6 months for two maps and modes that have been in prior Halo games. Almost everything that is going on at 343 is truly bizarre.

Only thing that interests me is the “ Last Spartan Standing “ mode . Is it a Battle Royale ? Is it infection ? Attrition? I hope it’s a BR. Even on a smaller scale , that would bring new players in and old players back . Help the game grow

Thanks for keeping it real Greenskull. As a forger, I admit, even with forge coming way later in the year, I worry most of the community will have moved on and be too small to really get the full enjoyment of lots of custom availability. Hoping I'm wrong, but I don't think forge will be enough to get the numbers back. Unless people really want to play my podracing map again LOL

The new arena map could be the next Lockout or Guardian it would still not be enough. One new arena and btb map in six months? That’s a slap in the face for a halo game

343i really need to outsource map creation to help for new content. Bungie did it all those years ago. I’m grateful season 2 is coming out finally, but with a 6 month gap in content, I don’t know if 2 maps is enough for the general community. I don’t think any of us need to be pessimistic about the future of Halo Infinite though. The bones are there and if maps are our biggest problem, then we’ll be ok.

I think season 3 might be the BIG season they're aiming for. Forge is already the biggest item on the roadmap, and there could very well be more for season 2 we don't know about. But I definitely think season 3 is gonna be the big one, at least I hope. Surprised they didn't announce infection for season 2, given it's medals are in the files. I think dominion medals were also datamined? But to be fair, those 2 modes are heavily dependent on forge. Last man standing sounds fun, like a mini BR (depending on how many people are in a match), and land grab sounds like a BTB mode, maybe a territories rework. Also could be a rework of dominion or H5 warzone.

Until Season 2, It's Elden Ring for me and I am feelin the same way. im not really mad, I cant pretend to be in their shoes, but its concerning to me how little of progress is being made.

Season 2 with the information we have has me worried as it stands currently in Season 1 with Halo Infinite most of my friends have stopped playing or out right uninstalled the game due to being burned out or they’re saying it’s a bad game due to there being no content and furthermore we ask the question why are some game modes like King of the Hill didn’t launch with the game as they have with prior Halo Games.

The new armour looks nice! Sadly I see it exacerbating community issues with customisation; along with the new Fracture it’ll be taking us up to 5 cores already… I’m intrigued about MP story, they left that hanging before it really went anywhere. I’ve got low expectations, but it has potential. I hope with S2/COOP we also see other improvements to campaign. There are still some rough edges that need smoothing.

Yeah man I agree with all you said. There will be ONE map each main mode within 9 months of release… unless they have some mid season 2 map drop… which I highly doubt at this point

This is a step in the right direction. I want more, but I’m hoping they mean that there is more maps they haven’t shown. And for campaign co op, I think it has to do with AI synchronization

Only thing i can attempt to understand taking so long is trying to get split screen working on the old xbox one consoles. Split screen requires rendering the game twice, and with the aged hardware of the old xbox one? Thats gonna be hard to get to run at a tolerable fps

Love the game but with nothing to earn anymore, I rarely play. Even skipped the last two Tenrais because it's just the same gamemode that's always available. Worried that once TacOps is live I won't even be good enough to compete and won't get my beautiful Mark V

the code at the base of the game is undeniably screwed and they need to fix that before they can do anything big or fast enough to make infinite a real live service.

Completely agree, love the game and all the new content that will eventually be added. But completing the progression system within 2 months and not even getting new maps until 6 months is rough. Even Halo 5 had a really nice steady flow of monthly content with fun marketing videos, new maps, new weapons and returning gametypes. As you say really solid foundation, and I do believe it will be eventually be great, but I wonder just how long until we even get close.

I’m concerned that they will delay Season 3 and this way the will put off co-op campaign for longer while claiming that it still arrives in Season 2.

No new maps until MAY and ONLY 2??? Yikes At least make some maps on the in-house forge build asap

It's crazy and yet also to be expected that after 6 years of waiting for a solid halo mp experience and 3 months after it launched were back in negativity territory again... But honestly 343 kind of deserve it. It's meant to be a live a service game now..and everyone I know that was hyped when halo launched has ditched it.. again.. I've been here before with 4, MCC & 5. The game is so solid gameplay wise I loved ranked BR starts and I was hoping for at least 3 new arena maps in the first big update not 1... But I'll take what I can get I guess. I did appreciate the priority zero issue raised in the halo update regarding 343 employees mental health but I think it'll fall on deaf ears. To be honest I think I can safely say 343/Microsoft employees probably have it pretty comfortable compared to the rest of us in terms of work/life balance, they probably work from home mostly, work a 4 day week and have measures in place already for mental health issues for staff. I just don't want excuses I want more Halo. We all have work related stress.

The game is amazing but man ranking up is really frustrating.

I don't even care that much about getting content anymore. Just fix the desync. Halo Infinite's gameplay was the only thing good about the multiplayer, but even that's ruined by the abysmal desync that's happening in almost every match I play. It doesn't matter how much content they add if desync is still an obvious problem 3 or 4 years down the line.

I love halo and always will, but with lack of content made the experience too repetitive. Got my onyx and moved on a month after release and have not looked back, sad.

Everyone in the community doesn’t see other live games as an example. Halo infinite is giving more modes and maps than a lot of them. But unfortunately for them they always have to work on a campaign which most live service developers do not. So granted 343 is down a hole for the desire of the game by not giving us the bare minimum…that’s not the problem…bc most live service games has gamers play only one game mode…the problem is halo infinite does have a game mode that’s constantly fun to play and watch. And that’s what the need to focus on…giving us more doesnt help if it’s ass. Give use some quality fun.

I’ll be satisfied with new maps if there’s at least four added. Two is not enough to keep me playing more then the three hours a week I currently put in. The lackluster content of Infinite so far has been shameful Also, I was under the impression forge was coming out with season 2. What happened there?

BATTLE ROYALE BABYYYYYY

I don't wanna spread negativity too much, but it is absolutely ridiculous that we got a Halo with the potential for the most customization possible, and almost ALL of it is locked behind paid battle passes. You get basically nothing in terms of customization at the base level, and on top of the huge lack of content, it's just so brutal. This game is so good, but they (Microsoft or 343, whoever is to blame) really botched the launch. Barebones content, paywall-locked customization, a horrendous BP system that they had to fix post-launch...it's sad :c I want to love this game, but it just feels so lackluster.

Not trying to be too negative here, but it really bothers me when 343 was the one who decided on a live service model for halo, but then in their updates the only real reason they give us for the small amount of content is that they’re focusing on team health. While I don’t want the team to suffer, this just doesn’t sound like the whole truth.

I wish we could throw more devs at 343, they’re probably stressed and understaffed :(

At this rate, it’ll be like 2 years before this game can sustain any sort of long term fun… and that’s IF they don’t rotate game modes in and out (foolishly) like H5… Design for a full variety of modes. Give people the content they expect and let them play… allow the maps to live up to their full potential and provide longevity for all the modes and player-counts, they’re supposed to support. That’s why Bungie’s games remained fun for years. They were fun games in the moment but also built for longevity… 343 is horrible at this, whether they realize it or not.

2 maps is actually fine when you consider we'll be getting Forge flights prior to season 3. It's the gamemodes that matter. Gamemodes transforms the maps you play on because they require you to traverse the map in different ways. They can breathe new life into the maps you've gotten used to by now

They took our customization system and sold us back a restrictive version for over 1,000 dollars. They launched the game barebones as hell and the features we have are broken, theatre is broken, custom games are broken, community page is broken, hidden MMR is broken. And I can’t criticize anything else because there literally is nothing else in the game. It’s been 10 years, at what point does this companies predatory incompetence become unacceptable? 343i should be replaced, or shaken up from the top down. Bonnie Ross and Frank O’Conner are an anchor on the franchise. Fire them.

I personally don't care for maps. Still play H3 with the H3 maps for years not just months. Hell a decade. My issue is the game play, it is 95% there, but it is not enough. I can not stand being cheated of a win. And the melee makes me feel cheated every game at this point. I hate the lack of player collision and I think that is effecting enemies when not meant to be. I loved attrition. Wtf happened there. A new loved mode just dropped. Odd.

Life long halo fan here and they lost me about a month in because of all the multiplayer lag. I did not have a good time and could not have any good games. A few yes but 75% of the time I always suffered from lag which kill my chance at being competitive.

Thinking really ahead here but the halo community needs to come together and boycott the next title unless forge, co-op campaign, and plenty of multiplayer maps/modes are confirmed ready at launch day. It hurts so damn much that they nailed the gameplay but failed to deliver on most if not all of the features that make halo. Halo infinite can not be the precedent for what to expect with each new title

Is it too little too late? Yes. Why? Cause halo infinite is 6-7 years of making the game before launch, a manned space rocket can be built in 5 years halo infinite is not more complicated than rocket science.

New armor looks trash, and the biggest thing for me is more weapons in the sandbox. I loved how halo 5 had so many weapons and new ones added every month. It was amazing
