Reach is the saddest halo and stuck with me for years. Always hits you right in the soul reliving the hopeless moments with noble team… after dark encapsulates that sadness perfectly
Reach hit all the sweet spots for me. It expanded what Halo 3 laid out imo. 117's story is inherently hopeful cause he makes it through anything. Noble's story is tragic, cause reach WILL fall regardless. It feels like a sincere love letter from Bungie before they left the series. I remember pre-ordering and getting all the goodies like the diary and the statue. Definitely the last halo game that felt sincere.
Kat’s death always stuck with me. The others all died heroic deaths, sacrificing themselves or managing to take their attacker with them. But not Kat. You could’ve blinked at the wrong time, one moment she’d be alive, and dead the next. Just the blunt randomness was shocking, and the next scene with their silhouettes, and her arm dangling lifelessly. It always just seemed to stick out to me the most out of all their deaths.
"It didn't take long for Reach to fall. Our enemy was ruthless, efficient...but they weren't nearly fast enough. For you had already passed the torch, and with it, we found Halo; uncovered it's secrets, shattered our enemy's resolve. Our victory - your victory - was so close I wish you had almost lived to see it. But you belong to Reach, your body, your armour, all burned and turned to glass. Everything, except your courage. That, which you gave to us, and with it, we can rebuild."
It’s been so long till last week when a moment struck my brain to remember that there’s no point in being sad these days when I played this amazing game as a kid.
Reach was truly a masterpiece, the story was everything i could ever wanted in a game. The emotions it made me feel, the gritty atmosphere, it was truly quite and experience. And this edit captures beautifully all of that, really well done.
This has to be one of the best halo music videos I’ve ever watched it really pulled on my heart strings listing to this song with the perfectly placed scenes I think this video capture the essence of halo reach
