I love that in this huge heavy armored strike force of warthogs, scorpions and falcons, there is exactly 1 mongoose driven by the 2 biggest madlads on Reach. That driver has to Chops Dubbo, no one else is that crazy

In my opinion, Tip of the Spear has one of the best openings to a mission in all of gaming... The feeling of hope in a hopeless situation and the need for immediate action as the UNSC charge toward the covenant with the smallest hope that Reach can be saved. The point of the mission is to feel that the UNSC has a glimmer of hope that they can win and repel the covenant but really it is hopeless for them and Reach will fall. is just pure amazing and sets the tone for the rest of the game after the ending which shows how purely hopeless the situation really is for humanity.

That lone mongoose always makes me chuckle. What a rush that guy riding shotgun must have!

It’s badass until you realize they have to go through all that, for just ONE tower, and there’s way more than just one.

The level of detail at 1:45 is incredible, really well animated so the helmet falls off the soldier and rolls onto the bridge. Feels like a super heavy impact.

oh god these games, I miss this bungie. the music, the spectacle, the characters. the unfathomably huge covenant ship covering the entire frame after destroying a frigate so easily and so suddenly, the constant pov shots so you are THERE IN THE MOMENT even when you're jumping off a part of a broken bridge or crashing a heli

When I first seen this cutscene I got the vibes of finally being in that one large Halo battle where we have all dreamed of with unimaginable amounts of ally and enemy A.I. The mission would begin with you driving through the desolate land the Covies had taken refuge. Driving through small ditches, over canyons, into squads of grunts and Elites in order to reach the Wraiths plundering your team mates through out. The theme from the current cutscene still playing but with Halo monk choir lingering in the background building to a crescendo. Reaching the Wraiths I was expecting a sort of Halo Wars cutscene where we had seen Red team skillfully annihilate those Elites without a sweat. But with Noble Six doing tackles against jackals, jumping up and running along a Wraith while dropping a grenade into the passenger turret seat. Looking on his left or right he might even see other Spartan teams doing their part. But as the battle goes on in the cutscene we finally see the brutality of war. Banshees are called in and begin bombing the area and the remaining Scorpion tanks. Elites with energy swords sprint into view spearing other Spartans on the edge of their plasma weapons. But you keep advancing and eventually manage to reach that gun placement. If something like this was added to the level I would have lost it. But, we do have to keep in mind the limitations on software.

I have the channel intro as my ringtone. Gosh I really miss Windows 2000's startup soundtrack

I wish there was a part in this mission where you could play through the warthog charge. Would've been epic. Imagine co-op with a couple friends in a warthog and another in a falcon providing air support.

Man I remember playing this for the first time with my best friend. I was super into halo. Read the books, comics, read and reread The Art of Halo more times than I can count. When they said they were using MAC rounds in the cutscene I lost my shit. Told my confused looking friend to buckle up because we were about to see something awesome. Then the frigate comes in and "pa-chew". Saying I was disappointed would be an understatement.

I am feeling very proud to myself, because I grew up playing Halo series not the fps games and when I was a kid and I was studying in class Nursery my father bought me a computer and on that computer my first game was Halo combat evolved. And when I birth in the year 2007, fortunately on that year Halo 3 was released, so I am very lucky. And I want to say that, in the world how much better graphics, better stories, game will be released but my favorite game is always will be the Halo series only. THANK YOU.......

The UNSC does have tracking systems that tell when a ship is coming out of slipspace within a solar system, so how did this monstrosity come within orbit of humanity's most heavily armed planet? And for that matter long enough to deploy an army to occupy the area for a week?

Halo reach made the covenant feel like an actual threat something that should be feared yet respected the only reason the covenant hated humanity is because we worked our way up to a galactic scale but the covenant was basically given all the technology in the universe by finding the forerunner ship they just built upon them and were given free roam of the galaxy with no one to police them they just became a massive monarch/dictatorship with a hint of a republic due to the council and the council people but they still negated them knowing what the rings actually did by silencing spark and with that the destruction of another halo ring and our favorite hero who shall never die within our heart Sargent Avery Johnson you will be missed✊
