Halo the Series Episode 6: Solace - Easter Eggs, References, and Lore 

I liked that as well. From language creation to biology, they've really gone the extra mile at every point as far as I can tell. I minored in neuroscience and overall, the brain science content that is grounded (i.e. not the far-future/science fiction AI parts) is necessarily simplified (because regions work together and excite/inhibit in unexpected ways), but is admirably on point and well-researched in terms of primary region functions. That's all I could ever ask and faaaar more than I usually see in shows.

The attention to detail in this series doesn't cease to impress me. I can't believe people call it bad, when nothing with this level of care and passion can't be actually bad.

Specifically a Histone protein, like M Behera points out. , Histones are responsible for the packaging of DNA, thus allowing control over whether dna is even expressed into protein or not. DNA remodelling in this sense plays a large part in genetic differences between individuals that have identical dna otherwise (twins for example). Thus whatever the silver timeline considers a blessed one to be, its nice that its not just the 'their dna is special' trope, but rather the more subtle histone remodelling epigenetic factor that is the reason for the similarity. What ruins it is when they talk of the point mutant in what I presume theyre trying to show is a histone monomer, that is a direct dna mutation. Its annoying to go that way as for a technologically advanced level of humans like those in the show will have enough biological knowledge to make that kind of simplistic change themselves. Thus it should be perfectly possible for more blessed ones to just be made based off the current biological explainations given in the show. Maybe they'll go down that track, but I doubt it, and it just comes across as bio mumbo jumbo with no real meaning.

@@MichaelFlambe Exact same thing crossed my mind!! If this is just a common random mutation that links them to Forerunner tech well thats just lazy writing and it would already be a bit of a common thing if two people already have it, maybe the others just haven't come into contact with artifacts or haven't been found by some random Covenant lamp that elites carry to know that they also carry the mutation. It would have been a lot better if it were a purposefully made mutation that linked only them to Forerunner tech giving "The Blessed (Chosen) One" a real meaning. But hey what can you expect from a show that had everything great lined up for it, even had an actual story line already made that people loved, all they had to do was give us live action and add a bit of a twist, if they liked, but damn they gave all that up to give us Kwan, Master Cheeks, and weird nail lady....

Halo does have a lot of religious motiffs and allegories, so it is not far out to think of a connection there. The John 1:17 is a cool one!

The guy who named John-117, Eric Trautmann, has said his name is a reference to Revelation 1:17, by John of Patmos.

It was intentional. Johns Number came from Revelations 1:17 "When I saw him, I fell at his feet as though dead. Then he placed his right hand on me and said: “Do not be afraid. I am the First and the Last."

Sure religion in general is arguably one of the core themes of the series, with it being covered from many different angles. I mean hell Halo 2's entire plot revolves entirely around the Covenant religion and the Arbiter's journey away from it. Then you have the likes of Sgt Johnson who makes references to God every 5th line.

I just love how the show shut up all these people that kept pushing this “they didn’t read the books or play the games so the show will be trash” narrative. For an adaptation of a popular video game franchise it’s good.

@1993DJC I suppose.. while i doubt that they HAVNT sourced any lore material im sure theres some finer details like that that slipped their understanding. Its just kind of annoying while Master Chief is a big deal in the lore, around this time the covenant barely knew of his existence but yet they refer to him like they know everything about him almost

I actually have liked this version of Halsey. she relied on the spartian's absolute trust and wanted to keep it by suppressing memories and emotions. Now that the truth has come out we can explore how the Chief would respond to such a betrayal. I can honestly believe that if he felt there was no one he could trust, he would lash out at the worst ones. That being said, I hope we get to see a reconciliation between Chief and Cortana, something that drives them together and forges them into the titanic pair we know and love.

Chief was really old in the first game right? Wasn't there a growth then with Halsey and with Cortana? Talking about the first game. It's been a while since I played. I just know that chief appears to be older than this Chief. I could be wrong

If I recall they did play a snippet of the halo theme when John and Makee see each other on a vision of the ring. I think I even heard a tiny snippet of the electric guitar ending to the song from the H2 soundtrack.

@@brock-182 I wonder how many of the "reeee"ing voices have only played the games, and therefore demand the show just repeat old ground. This chief feels a lot more like the expanded universe chief in a different situation. I personally like it BECAUSE its not a rehash of Fall of Reach and CE/the Flood.

Makes me wonder if they’re going to give any speaking role and have his voice actor from Halo Wars 2 to reprise him. I really want he him to deliver that oh so chilling line from the trailer and cutscene. “Yeess, Run, Little Demons”.

With how diluted the show is though, most likely this version of atriox is just a side character to throw away to plot or a few episode into season 2.

I think narratively Silver Team might be taking the place of Noble team when shit hits the fan. Maybe we'll get a nod to them but it really wouldn't make sense to start introducing a whole nother Spartan team this late in the season

@@geralddillon5746 It was also the most unmaster chief thing that fake chief ever did. So completely out of character. They need to stop calling that master chief because that is not master chief. A different spartan entirely. It was the weakest point of the show yet.

Its also possible that Chief didnt use his full strength (considering what happened the last time he didnt control himself...) combined with the cell being especially strong. It also looked to me like the vision may have taken some of Chief's strength away when it hit.

@@johntaylor4513 This show is 1000x better than anyone could possibly expect from an FPS-inspired television adaptation. Fans of the games should be on their knees with gratitude at the caliber of cast they assembled and the intelligent, contemplative treatment it has received.

@@jackgrove4621 Wrong. The Librarian pretty much tells Master Chief that his DNA was altered as a plan set in motion long ago. Again this is why Chief and Makee can interact with the Forerunner artifacts and other humans can't.

The plan the Librarian was referring to is the Mantle of responsibility being passed to Humanity after the Forerunner failed to defeat the Flood and resorted to firing the Halo array’s. You want reincarnation, practice Hinduism.

@@jackgrove4621 different timeline, different chief. Pellet's out so his mindset isn't entirely stable and the question of how much control Cortana can have is very important to answer

@@jackgrove4621 indeed, other than him being a newer antagonist added to the franchise rather than Tartarus who gets mentions in Contact Harvest and serves as the end boss during Halo 2.
