Filming location: Simpson Road, Fenny Stratford (MK2 2DD)
A pair of evening lowerings filmed at this single-track level crossing in Fenny Stratford, part of Bletchley just south of Milton Keynes. It's the westernmost level crossing on the Marston Vale Line towards Bedford, and one of nine level crossings on that line which still have these now very rare halogen bulb-type wigwags / road traffic lights. These 2004 variants appear quite bright due to it being later on, and the crossing seemed to be working well this time. In keeping with the rest of the Marston Vale Line it can be quite unreliable at times. The road beyond the crossing was closed at the time of my visit, making the middle of the road shot you see in the first video possible!
An un-cut lowering for a Bedford-bound passenger service is seen before a freight train trundles through 10 minutes late. It was obstructed by a passenger service which had to terminate at Bletchley due to a points failure on the West Coast Main Line, and I was waiting quite a lot longer for it than I'd bargained for. Enjoy!
