YOTA, short for "Youngsters on the Air", is a fast-growing group of young radio amateurs from IARU Region 1 with the aim of getting more young people interested in amateur radio and expanding the amateur radio community. Every summer, around 80 young people meet in a different country in IARU Region 1 to spend a week exchanging ideas and experiences. At the summer camp, the young people learn how to organise youth activities in their own countries, such as presentations at schools, smaller camps for young people and more. All to get more young people interested in amateur radio. During the year, the youth organise a number of sub-regional camps for a smaller number of young people, including those who do not yet have a licence. There are also young contest teams, special call signs and many other activities.
Claudia DC2CL reports on the opportunities for young people to take part in YOTA camps. The interview was conducted by Alexandra DE7YLA.
