One mistake to avoid in Ham radio when calling CQ, is don't give up calling CQ after making just one or two calls. Some Hams I've heard only call CQ once, and expect an instant reply, which doesn't usually work. You can of course, always QSY to another frequency instead, and call CQ once again. Don't assume that staying on one frequency, is the only way to get an answer to your CQ. 😊

Yep and don’t take it to heart if you never get an answer, it happens to us all and usually just means bad conditions so try another band or later.

Sometimes there are 3 ops calling cq on the same freq and don't hear each other ,😊

I have lost count of the number of times I have missed out on a QSO because the operator doesn't say "QRZ" or "listening" but just takes the last rude person who called (usually just two phonetics 🤬) over the end of the previous QSO. I have lost ATNOs as a a result of this. It's the fault of the CQing station as they fail to take control and impose simple rules to the situation. Cal is a great exponent of this. You too Stu. If everyone did this it would just work!

Just saying “stop calling stop calling” is very effective when callers get a little excited. I did it mid 40m pileup into Europe and even the Italians went quiet ! I was genuinely shocked 😳

Some times 2 ops calling cq on same freq but dont hear each other on hf so the ones that hear both eait on calling back😊

What about those calling CQ and you never know if they have finished, they just pause, go quiet or actually unkey. Finish your CQ call with "over" or "listening" :)

its called good operating and yes fully agree over or using call signs is just as clear ,just on another note i hear a few using bloody roger bleeps and i hate them so much i won't work any one using them including cb bands ,i've been operating for over 40 years and never need one and worked many stations ,keep up the good work Stu love the streams or the general chats we have Frank G1HQQ

Yeah sometimes I will listen for the smallest signal but if I’m live streaming I’m picking out the stronger stations that will make for better viewing , bad of me I know :)
