▼About the Hamaori FestivalAbout 170 years ago, in 1838, the portable shrine of Samukawa Shrine was on its way back from the annual spring Kounomachi Festival (Kounomachi, Oiso Town) when a dispute arose between Samukawa and local parishioners at a ferry crossing on the Sagami River, causing the shrine to fall into the river and go missing. A few days later, Magoshichi, a fisherman from Nanko, discovered the object while fishing and returned it to Samukawa Shrine. It is said that this led to the shrine's portable shrine traveling to the beach of Nanko every year to perform a purification ritual in gratitude.
