@@dryflyman7121 Thankyou, didn't think of that, but I do think I read somewhere recently, its to clean chain off, but I see it happening as ships come INTO port, so I'm thinking wouldnt they need wasdhing off after weighing anchor on departure?🤷🏿‍♂

@@Southwest_923WR This is the rinsing of the hawsepipes that is activated before anchorage or harbour manoeuvers. When you raise the anchor, the chain is always full of mud. In order to avoid to fill the chainlockers with dirt, this rinsing washes the anchor chain before it's coming on deck and in the chainlocker.
