HAMBURGER STEAK *THE HAMBURGERS* 2 lbs of Ground Beef 1 Teaspoon of Garlic Powder 1/2 Tablespoon of Salt 1/2 Teaspoon of Pepper 1 Tablespoon of Worcestershire Sauce 1/2 Cup of Italian Breadcrumbs 1 Egg *THE GRAVY* 1 Tablespoon of Vegetable Oil 1 Onion (Sliced) 1/2 Stick of Unsalted Butter 1/4 Cup of All Purpose Flour 1 (14.5 oz) Can of Beef Broth 1 Cup of Water 1 Teaspoon of Cajun Seasoning 1 Teaspoon of Garlic Powder Start out by heating a large pan or pot over a medium high heat. Slice the onion and move off to the side. In a bowl mix together the 2 pounds of ground beef, garlic powder, salt, pepper, Worcestershire sauce, bread crumbs, and egg. Make six evenly portioned hamburger patties. Add the vegetables oil to the pan. Drop in three hamburger patties, and sear for 3 to 4 minutes on each side. When done, place patties off to the side. Add the sliced onion to the pan. Begin moving the onion around the pans to break up any bits on the bottom. After a few minutes, move the onions to one side of the pan, and drop the half Stick of unsalted butter on the opposite side. Once the butter has melted, add the 1/4 cup of flour, and blend in. Sauté the butter, flour, and onions together for about 20 minuets. After 20 minuets, add a small amount of beef broth to the pan and blend. Once you see a creamy mixture, then add the rest of the beef broth. Next add a the cup of water, Cajun Seasoning, and garlic powder. Blend ingredients, bring to a slight boil, cover, and then lower to simmer for 30 minuets. After 30 minuets, add the patties back to the pan. Scoop some of the onion gravy over the top of the patties, raise the heat to a slight boil, cover, lower to simmer, and let cook for another 30-40 minuets. Cook up some Mash Potatoes, and enjoy!
your hamburger steaks were spot on......delicious.... i must of watched your video 16 times to make sure I got them right.....perfection!!! Thank you!....Great comfort food for the cold here in Chicago!
The Cajun Ninja Going back and watching some videos that I missed. This one definitely has some nostalgia for me. Mashed potatoes with the gravy on them, green beans, and grandma's yeast rolls. Remember one thing though...Good, very good! But onion not hit back.
You don’t miss! Another winner with the fam👏🏾👏🏾👏🏾👏🏾 I added Lipton’s beefy onion recipe secrets to my gravy along with the Cajun seasoning and garlic powder 💥 *chef’s kiss*
This was a staple dinner of my childhood. I make it for my family now pretty regular except I do meatball instead of patties. My kid just prefers it that way. Great , easy dinner!
This took forever to make. But damn it was super good. Just finished eating it. Best thing I’ve ever done with ground beef. Great video. I followed it step by step.
I don’t know if I’m more impressed by your cooking or the fact you made several Bloodsport references in less than 2 minutes. Well done sir, well done.
I made this last night for my family and it was FANTASTIC. my husband asked how I turned hamburger into “gourmet”. I’ve always made gravy but never cooked it for so long....but.....WOW does it ever make a huge difference. Thanks!
Wanted something warm in my belly today and this was what I decided ro go with. Even my pups were hanging around me by the stove because they knew mom was cookin' up something delicuous!!
Not kidding first video I’ve ever commented on and I watch coming videos all day errrrr day. Your videos are the best!!! Not only food wise but hearing wise and your video techniques. Like not making us watch you mix something so simple as hamburger meat. 🤷🏽♀️🙌🏽
I made this last night and it's incredible! I added just a little bit of yellow mustard to my gravy but it doesn't need it at all. Excellent video and editing! Dim Mak brother! 🤣🤣🤣 Thank you Cajun Ninja! Cheers - Luther 😎👍
I made this for my family all the time. Matter of fact my grand baby is gonna help me cook them tonight. My daughter has company and she had never heard of this, so I showed her this video. My grandson is usually a picky eater, but last time I made this he cleared his plate. My daughter said that’s how you know it’s good. ❤
OK gentlemen, listen up! If you can't salvage a relationship with this recipe, then it's not the recipe; it's the relationship. I made this tonight with mashed potatoes. My husband and I have never seen nor tasted such a wonderful gravy! It came out a beautiful, rich-looking brown! And oh, the flavor! My God! This one is definitely a keeper. I won't lie. It's a lot of work. Never mind. I like cooking from scratch, and if I know I am working with a good recipe, I don't mind the work. The hamburger patties go together beautifully. They don't fall apart in the bowl or in the pan. I'm afraid the onion I used was a bit small. If the onions I have are that small in the future, I'll use two. Thanks CN. Oh, BTW, my dog, Mimi sends greetings to Gumbo. Mimi is a little unhappy because she didn't get to try this dinner.
I was in a relationship and cooked just like you do. One day my girlfriend and I got into an argument because I did ALL the cooking. She said that I cooked because I liked doing it. I told her, "I cook because I have a habit called EATING." Nope, that relationship didn't last. Proceed with caution and BURN a few dishes is what i've learned.
My ex had two things she was competent at...bragging about her lame apple crisp, her "pizza lasagna" (both of which she would cook once a year like she was doing ma a fucking favor)...and you can guess what the other was. No great loss of either when she left. Men are the best cooks...BECAUSE WE HAVE TO BE.
Do like me and my friends do. We all know how to cook and have get togethers at our houses (watching the game, fight, cards, etc.). Females end up bringing friends, etc. None of us ever lack in female attention because females aren't cooking like their grandmas anymore. Single women are always hungry. AND ITS CHEAPER than a date.
You guys are crazy! I am a female, and I do all the cooking in our home. And I've been married for 33 years. Get the point?😄. I've even gotten my partner to eat things he swore up-and-down he would never eat. He never grew up eating pasta; however he will eat any kind of pasta that I throw at him if the sauce is homemade. He will even eat tomato sauce in spite of the fact that he hates tomatoes. There are three things on this planet he will not eat: liver, lima beans, and Kraft dinner. Guess what! I don't like that stuff either. Although hubby doesn't like Kraft dinner, he will eat homemade mac & cheese, because he understands that I am still on a quest quest for the definitive recipe. I bet he would eat this recipe too, because he enjoys mashed potatoes with a really good gravy. Although I do the cooking, he is the sous chef. If we prepared this meal, he would peel and boil the potatoes. I would then mash them and mix them with butter, sour cream, salt, pepper and onion powder. I do intend to try this. The Cajun Ninja's gravy is always so good!
okay. after watching your video i am going to make this for Sunday dinner. I can't wait. it looks really good. i know this video is 3 yrs old but it was still very helpful. Thank you.
Made this tonight & it’s definitely one of the best meals I’ve ever cooked. Delicious! I get all of my recipes from Cajun Ninja & love the turn out every time. Thank you!!!
Thanks for going straight to the point, all other recipes in the internet is just blabbing about how their mother made Hamburg steak in their childhood and so on for pages, and the recipe is few sentences
Looks good, but one thing I do when I make these is if I'm using breadcrumbs, I let them soak in water or milk first for a bit because dry breadcrumbs absorb moisture, which means they'll take the juices away from the meat and you'll be left with dry meat
I just made this tonight it was sooo good I added large chopped mushrooms at the end to the gravy and put sliced provolone on top of the patties and covered the pan for 5 mins to have it melt Oh my god heaven !
12.29.2021 - I just finished making this and it is delicious. I already have my own recipe but I love trying different versions of my favorite dishes. I went with Pioneer Woman's Creamy Mashed Potatoes for this one and talk about a HUGE win paired with this gravy 😋 👌 ❤ Thank you again for an amazing video. Many blessings to you and yours.
I made this tonite for dinner. It was pretty good. I might change the spices for the burgers. Cut down on the Worcestershire and salt. You are right about the gravy. I could drink it thru a straw. I see myself making g this often. Oh and my grandson didn't want gravy on his burger so I made his as cheeseburgers and he said it tasted good
Looking might tasty; memories of my mother(RIP). Ima buy me some ground beef and an onion and make some of this; its been a while. Thanks for posting this reminder of what 'stick to your ribs' food looks like. Yes!!!
Just stumbled upon your video... LOVE it, it's far from the typical mono toned vid. I'm making hamburger steaks tonight, no time to cook it this way... but I'm DEFINITELY cooking it this way next time and beyond. Peace ✌
This looks delicious 😋 Yep, I’ve attended BBQs where meat sat out for hours 😂 Certainly, your burgers are edible 💯 and the gravy is on point. Glad I subscribed to your channel - well worth it.
