@@Jeradcoolestintheworld yes but since this song is in the beginning you can see that they all are aiming and shooting for the sky while burr "waits for it" , he didn't shoot his shot until way later in act 2 in "room where it happens" thats where hamilton and burr swith places
7:35 I love the fact that Burr is still there and joins in with the choreography rather than being like "fuck this. I ain't hanging around with these suicidal idiots"
He wants to rise up, you can totally see that throughout the production, he does, not so deep down. It's just hard when you've a horrid phobia of letting down your dead parents and destroying a legacy. And depression, probably.
Yes if you watch the musical, a lot of numbers where he not actively in it he is still in the background. Symbolising that he isn't against the revolution, and he has very similar beliefs to Hamilton, he just has a different approach
I can't get over the fact that when they first met burr was being slightly vulnerable telling him his parents are dead... And Hamilton was just like "YO SAME!"
@@ilovkittisncatsi still wonder why that happens. i’ve searched it on reddit a few times and everyone has experienced it but doesn’t know why it happens so much
Fun Fact: At about 6:31, Hamilton is talking, and this is when he wonders when he’s going to die. But in The World Was Wide Enough, the exact same choreography happens. He’s about to die and remembers what he said when he, Hercules, Laf, John and Burr were friends. It only took 30 years for Hercules to go back to his tailoring business, Laf to France, John to get shot and Burr, his first friend, his enemy, the first and last friend he ever saw, to murder him.
Is there anyone else who is moved to tears by the pure energy of this musical, and in utter awe at the unimaginable dedication and hard work that must have gone into making this happen?
@@stefaniem.3187 the African American community despises it when black characters are race swapped, how is this any different? Why is this ok but the other way around isn't?
I don’t know why, but I really like this part of “My shot”: Rise up, when you’re living on your knees you rise up Tell your brother that he’s gotta rise up Tell your sister that she’s gotta rise up
My favorite part is: I’m past patiently waitin I’m passionately smashin every expectation ever actions an act of creation I’m laughing in the face of casualties and sorrow for the first time I’m thinking past tomorrow
Am I the only one who prefers 5:48 - 6:10 over the one in the soundtrack. Don’t get me wrong the soundtrack is amazing but this part feels more powerful because of the echo effect
True, a lot of songs are better live than in the soundtrack. You can also notice this with the ending of Satisfied. Also, without the laughs, King George III's songs feel kinda... empty
Hamilton isn’t accurate, but if you approach it with a mindset of a very loosely based in the forming of the USA and otherwise just an amazing musical then you can’t go wrong
Hamilton isn’t supposed to be super accurate its loosely based off American history using characters and events that happened and exaggerating the life of Alexander Hamilton to flourish of the creators artistic take of the American Dream Theme
@J miilz Agreed! Accuracy is not the goal here, rather the message of overcoming adversity to bring about a better world. Besides, history (generally being written by the victors) tends not to be very accurate or complete so this work is in good company!
I know it’s not historically correct but this made me read up on these people and battles in our history. I’ve heard others saying this same thing too so Hamilton is insanely great and also thought provoking. It’s a win/win.
Just gonna clarify what happened here. Burr and Hamilton meet outside a bar. They go inside the bar where John, laf and herc are loudly and drunkenly rapping. Alex joins in and then they dance around a pub, the other 3 probably hammered. They then go outside where John decides to start yell-singing near people's balconies, at night time based on the lighting. They get everyone who was in the bar or nearby to join in the loud singing. Then they go back into the bar to drink a bit more before going home, still singing.
You guys! Watch at 7:28 Laurens (at the left) holding the Bullet back who’s trying to go near Alexander when Alexander is standing in the center and saying the words “I’m passionately smashing every expectation”. Took me a lot of rewatch to notice that and realize it was Laurens who kept him alive before anything or anyone else
@@user-lf6du8te5q “The Bullet” is a character played by an ensemble member. Here, the role is played by Ariana Debosse. She is the “someone” you can see that got blocked by Laurens
I love history, kinda in the middle when it comes to rap (I'm an old school guy), and absolutely HATE musicals. My brother made me watch this with him today...it's absolutely incredible
I hated musicals until I saw Hamilton. Now I’m vibing to this every now and then and while playing Call of Duty (mainly in Modern Warfare/Warzone back in 2020) and now I have an Alexander Hamilton Funko Pop hanging around in my room 😂😂
Super catchy. It just keeps going around and round in my head especially like that one part, where he did that thing, with that song, and all that other stuff it was the greatest thing I've ever seen or heard still this one like so many of the other songs are super catchy
The actor playing Burr has a terrific singing voice. I'm sitting here comparing myself to A. Hamilton and these magnificent artists and wondering what I am going to do that impacts the world as much as they do.
Or make the mistake, as I did last night, of going to see the Broadway tour of this. Crappy sound system, unintelligable lyrics, screeching vocals. Astoundingly loud. Essentially a headache inducing assault on the eardrums. Improved in the second half, a little. If I wanted my head to feel like that, I'd drink cheap whiskey.
Im so in love with the choreography at 6:19. it feels so powerful, im mostly watching the woman with the black long hair :D but they are all so amazing

So angry I spent a lot of money for the live show...I understood nothing. Why is it so easy to understand here? It was white noise at the live show. Left half way through.
Fact: Even though Lafayette said that he was opposed to a monarchy in France in the musical, in reality, Lafayette was opposed to France abolishing the French monarchy, and he was one of the moderates in the French Revolution who wanted to keep the King as a Constitutional Monarch, he believed that the revolutionary government should adopt the type of government to that of Great Britain, which was a constitutional monarchy that the king were to rule in collaboration with parliament and by a Constitution.
Yup soon as he says "those who run their mouths off wind up dead" The VERY NEXT person to speak is John Laurens lol Also in The Battle of Yorktown John Laurens shakes hands with the women playing death
I went to one of the shows I was 7 and I didn’t realize how special it was, im 12 now and I saw it again for my birthday when I turned 11 it’s amazing!
I prefer this to the studio version, one reason is at 0:44 in the studio version it sounds like hes just denying being stupid without being fully confident in it, but in this version when he says "im not stupid" it sounds like he's defending himself and wont tolerate being looked down on
the way john says "who are you" is like he already knows who he is, like he had watched him when he introduced himself to burr and so hes just like oh i wonder who you are idk you never met you in my life
As a history teacher, Hamilton got my worst class into the American Revolution. They quit falling asleep and paid attention because I put some of the songs in my lectures to help
I honestly live when he says don't be surprised when you see me in your history books, though they never did he now how has a whole play about him, books about him, games based off what he did! And it's honestly amazing.
@@aliciastack927 and @Krushil Bhavsar: Interesting question! Miranda says the idea was to capture the live musical "feel," and that he could not imagine it as a movie. In live opera productions (and perhaps Broadway, too), the sound is usually live, but in movies, much of it -- and particularly singing -- is usually dubbed. I can see a mike on the side of Burr's face at 0:33, which would not be there if they were dubbing the vocals. If you have sources or if you spot any more clues in the video, please post your thoughts for us.
