Lin-Manuel Miranda talks to Lara Spencer about the Hamilton's success and the show's enrichment project with students from New York City's public schools.
What if there's a kid out there somewhere watching this and being inspired by Lin's work and one day he/she will make something as good as Hamilton or even better. Chills.
I'm obsessed over a musical about a American founding father...I'm from New Zealand. I literally don't care about American history at all. But I WISH so badly that I could see Hamilton.
New Zealand ? So did you too thougt at first "why is there a musical about Hamilton, nothing ever happens in this city...Oh wait there's a dude called Hamilton ?" like I did at first ?
Saw the show three weeks ago and he really puts everything into his performance. They all do. Blood, sweat, tears, soul. Really extraordinary that this type of enrichment project exists. What a cool dude.
I would give anything to see this show and Lin-Manuel Miranda live! But I can't because I live in another country, we don't even speak the same language D:
I hope you get to see it one day! They might film a performance some time, which would be amazing for others to see the show in it's entirety! I hope they do!!!
Thatonegreencrayon No, please. Stay..... XD I'm so done. Me and my friend have become obsessed and we use quotes for everyday life. Ok so this actually happened. I managed to get separated from my friends at the mall, bc I told them I was gonna go get something to eat for the four of us, and I told them to keep walking. Huge mistake. We were at an intersection, and I just doubled back, bc we came in through the entrance closest to the food. So yea, apparently the friend who is obsessed with me thought singing Guns and Ships, my favorite song at the time, with the other three girls, trying to see if I could hear and it would call my attention, bc, we were stupid at the moment and I'd been looking for them for half an hour, randomly walking into stores I'd expect them to be in. Yea, I was doing my second round, heading back to the foodcourt, and I heard them singing the song, who knows how many times, and they were just starting. All I hear is: "Everyone give it up for America's favorite fighting Frenchman!" Idk if it was out of instinct or what, but I literally screamed at the top of my lungs "Lafayette" and proceeded to start the rap part. My friends found me, people were staring, and the food was cold. We somehow managed to forget the fact that we actually had phones. XD
DAYUM! That one guy in the red shirt who fell at the gunshot... that was great, like literally wtf just happened? Flipping 0:43 and Lin's reaction! He literally swings himself to look around the pole to watch the guy even better. Priceless. You can even hear his "Woaaaah!"
Lin-Manuel really is one of the best people out there right now. He got the fame he deserves for creating something brilliant, and is now using that fame to help others. What a sweet dude.
I met Lin and i was speechless to the point where i just said "i love you man gimme a hug" and he looked at me weird and said "okay so we're doing this" (JUST LIKE BURR IN THE TEN DUEL COMMANDMENTS) and let's just say I will never be unhappy anymore
Funny enough, this was recorded in 2016. The Hamilton recordings that you see on Disney+ were recorded in 2016.... Hence, Lin already knew it was going to be on the big screen and had probably already signed the contracts to record the show for Disney.
+Rizky Anandita Not a CD, they did that. I mean like what they did with CATS the musical with the recorded stage production "movie." No actual hollywood involvement, but just the recorded raw, stage production.
Arthur Iggy Kirkland Çøspläy -England- What the other person said is exactly right. Thespian is the old school term for an actor or actress. It originated in Greece back in the time of tragedies and comedies, almost since the dawn of acting. That's why it's such an important term, but the reporter just butchered it.
I am crying, Lin is so perfect like. OMG! he is the best person I have ever seen on the internet or anywhere, he is the most perfect person on this planet right now and I feel like he should just be a little more of a jerk so every time he says something nice I won't start crying or swoon, cuz this is a problem. He is the best human being in the world and I am so happy for him, You go Lin you go!
When I saw him on Broadway during the final month of his production "In the Heights", I loved it. I can't wait to come to NYC and to see this production. It has the same rhythm and spirit and good on him for his creativity. He is a talented man and his music is a generation. I also loved his quote that this production is history being done in modern times. Beautiful.
I check ticket master every day in order to see if they posted the tour dates and/or tickets for my city. Which, I actually screamed and cried in happiness when I even found out they're coming to my city. Lin is such an inspiration. He never gave up on this musical. Props to the cast and crew, and business people that helped him make Hamilton.
This makes me cry simply because this is such a wonderful opportunity for these students, and I'm so glad that the show isn't just successful in theatre, but in influencing people.
I went to see the musical Lion King and this girl sitting behind me kept singing along. I don't even mean like a young 5 year old girl, I mean at least a high school aged girl who should know that other people didn't just pay over $100 to come to a show to listen to the audience sing.
I live in Scotland but when I found out about Hamilton I was going threw a lot of depression and I learned about Alexander Hamilton's history and the musical and now my life has change, Thank you Lin - Manuel Miranda :)
CAN WE JUST.......... This guy is so amazing! Can we just appreciate how lucky we are to live in a world where history is becoming more and more important to teens. And the fact that lin took the time and effort to research and work on music and lyrics around his everyday life for years and with a son! Thank you lin! He has inspired so many including me. Please this lin NEEDS to make a maths musical (calculus musical) because I know more about American history than any other subject AND I'M BRITISH !!!
i'm going to see the play in 2018-2019 ((it comes to orlando)), but lin won't be there, nor any of the others, i believe. i know they have lives, but it sort of saddens me that i hadn't realized hamilton had existed before this year.
Thanks for releasing film of production EARLY, in 2020 during the pandemic. Saved a lot of people's sanity during lockdown. Pure genius, the performers, writers, musicians, choreography, Lin, everyone. Everyone. Thank you!
havent had the pleasure of seeing the show but from this and other interviews i have seen you can tell lin is such a fan of his craft and the people he works with its not just okay we have this musical and we have to hit the deadline its okay we have this audience we want to make them happy we want to give them the best show ever
