'Hamilton' Choreographer Breaks Down His Moves 

I need an entire documentary on Hamilton's choreography.

my dad was like "why would you want to go see the show if you already know all the words from listening to the soundtrack 4000 times?" THIS. THIS IS WHY.

Okay so EVERYONE behind this project is a genius. Cool. Cool cool cool.

He's a genius. Everyone in Hamilton is freaking amazing.

This guy is such a genius it makes me sick. With so much attention paid to Lin's music and lyrics (deservedly so) it's so awesome to see videos like this and just be reminded once in a while of the genius of Andy, Tommy, and Alex (sorry to use their first names like I know them, I just don't want to misspell their last names) is just so mind blowing. Sometimes thinking about what Andy put together can seem almost more impressive than Lin's work when I think Lin got to write, rewrite, tweak, workshop, all of his brilliant ideas for 7 years and the choreography has to get done how quickly? My god to be a fly on the wall when this creative team is in a room bouncing ideas off each other. That has to just be insane. I love creative masterminds.

What gets me is how much thought and time goes into 15 seconds of choreography... and then thinking how long the show actually is. Fantastic! Would love to see more break downs of the reasoning behind the moves, especially for those of us who can't see the actual show!!

Whenever I watch Hamilton I cannot stop watching the ensemble dance. Oh my gosh they’re so good. The choreography just. I genuinely don’t understand how this man did all of that and made it FLAWLESS.

My high school is doing a kind of Hamilton tribute as the finale of our cabaret performance and our choreographer gave us a dumbed down version of this choreography. Knowing the meaning behind the actual moves is really cool!

I came in this thinking I could learn the routine easily within 10 minutes. I was wrong. I am 13 and I have been doing hip-hop my whole life yet i've never met a choreographer who actually uses the lyrics to make his moves (apart from lyrical choreographers) and I love how meaningful they are. I am hoping to learn this routine now within a week so hopefully I can! Wish me luck :)

We just watched #HamilFilm and we cannot stress enough every little thing in Andy Blankenbuehler's choreography. Just amazing mastery of movement as an art form and as the message.

This is amazing. I loved hearing the thought process behind it as even if we never really understood the meaning behind it before. The breadcrumbs were always there. Which is why it looks so great. The choreography is a masterpiece in itself as it been planned and thought to the second.

As an actor I subconsciously took note of everything he was saying and now in watching this once i have completely memorized and perfected the dance

As a dancer and choreographer myself lately I have been really uninspired. However seeing Hamilton I always loved how inventive the choreography was. I'm pretty late stumbling upon this video but I'm so glad I've seen this. It's really inspiring and shows another approach to creating choreography. I love how he's literally just interpreting what the lyrics say but he does it with so much flare. This definitely makes me want to get back into the studio and get back to work.

This and the other video was fascinating! Both so we could learn the backstory behind each move and so that I can possibly learn how to do these two parts of the show!

I wish he was facing the mirror and the camera was diagonally behind him! (does that make sense?) It's hard to match this choreo head on without mirroring it. facing the mirror would make it feel more like a choreo rehearsal. Maybe i'm just a bad dancer who's alone in this thinking lmao
