Hamilton County September 7th Outdoor Warning Siren Test

On the first Wednesday of every month, Hamilton County, Ohio performs a test of their Outdoor Warning Siren System, weather permitting. I was off of work today, so I decided to record the Thunderbolt 1000T located on top of the Salvation Army Building in Norwood, Ohio. If I am wrong, I'm sorry and please correct me, but I believe this to be a 1000T model Thunderbolt. Other sirens heard are Thunderbolt 1000Ts, one of them being located on Montgomery Road near Silverton. During the Attack Cycle, this siren operates correctly, and not all of the Thunderbolts do operate correctly in Attack in Hamilton County. Unfortunately, this siren is scheduled to be replaced later this year with an American Signal T-128, along with the other older sirens in the county. Growl; 1:44, Alert; 4:26, Attack; 6:18

Here in Louisville, Kentucky, all of the sirens sound the alert tone only, such a shame that Louisville, Kentucky does not test with attack/wail (unless it is the Federal Signal 2001, or the Federal Signal Modulator).

@murrfarms Interesting. Its a shame something was not done about that. Another thing that is resulting for the blower being mostly blocked off is that you can also notice that the pitch is higher on this one than one that is running correctly on chopper level 7. I noticed that the chopper running only sounds higher pitched than when the chopper and blower run together.

Interesting sounding Thunderbolt. It doesn't seem the blower has much affect on the siren like it should or it could be set to high chopper level. How loud was it from your position? It is hard to tell but it kinda sounds like a 4/5 port set to chopper level 6 or 7 to me. Great video! Love the growl.

@thefandude21 Hearing the growl again it does seem the blower is operating. The chopper started then the blower kicked in.

@thefandude21 It may be due to the fact that the idiot roofers "paved" over the blower box for some unknown reason, so it's probably starving for air to draw into the blower. It's definitely not as loud as it should be, notice how long it takes for the air to build up enough after the siren starts up.

The blower isn't getting the air it needs. So it sounds higher pitched.

If the blower is already in a box why would covering it up do anything

With the way ventless thunderbolt blowers are designed, the air is supposed to go in through some gaps in the blower frame at the bottom of the blower. If these are covered up (like in this situation) then the blower can't suck in any air to push out the chopper

@@1000BT a new roof was added and the areas around the intakes were sealed shut from any sort of access to an air supply, thus starving the blower of air

Yup, still around. Weirdly enough if you look at 2018 street view and 2022 street view the thing has rotated, and it is still very much up.

@@MasenMonster if you're referring to my game in roblox, theyre staying up unless they get in the way of a build project or they start to pose an imminent hazard to the property they are located on or surrounding properties. As of now, none of them have reached this point so there's no point in removing them
