You know, how boring rehearsels are sometimes? They probably practices the timing and the pronounciation for the last hour. So it's pretty common to bring something with you.
@@Junipania - My observation is different. Next to Morgan Marcell is Micheal Luwoye, who has a tablet. Luwoye came into the company around June of 2016 to be the Hamilton alternate after Lin departs in July and Javier Munoz goes from Alexander alternate to lead. Morgan is a dance captain responsible for teaching the show to incoming cast and my guess is they are both using those devices to review aspects of the character. Since Ariana DeBose is also there (she can be seen briefly between the heads of Morgan Marcell and Sasha Hutchings), this is before Lin's departure (July 9, 2016).

Anthony Ramos with Jasmine Cephas Jones are clearly enjoying it and having fun :D
I've been a musician at these types of rehearsals, and trust me, this is NOT relaxed. Sure they are sitting around, but they are watching Alex Lacamore like their life depended on it, and the people with laptops are either reviewing lyrics, or taking notes. Theatre performers are expected to hit the stage rehearsals knowing the songs inside and out - no director wants to lose expensive stage rehearsal time waiting for the music director to rehearse the songs again. (The same goes for the choreography). For the rehearsals taking place in the theatre - I would expect this was only because there has been a change of some kind to the song (they were tweaking the songs right up until the first performance).
This just is so awesome!! I was gonna say that too . This and there’s another way they are all just goofing around. This is a dream that all Drama kids want to happen
Anthony is the absolute best person ever, I met him at the set of In The Heights and after telling him I was a huge fan of his he started asking me questions about me and we had a very nice 10 min conversation. After that whenever I saw him on set he would always say hi to me and call me by my name. I was a background extra for the pool scene in the song '96,000'.
I just got a job as staff for an arts company with 2 theaters. I saw Renee, as she was getting ready to leave. She hasn't changed a bit and still looks as beautiful as always.
It’s so crazy to see them practising just like every school production practises, when Alex Lacamoire was just playing the piano and saying “I should only be hearing 4 and 5” I got flashbacks to everything I’ve ever been in hahaha I love them all so much
Okay idk if anyone else noticed it but the “hey”s that we hear at the beginning of Helpless come in on the last chorus of Schuyler Sisters, which is why they feel so right when we hear them during Helpless. I literally just caught that and I’ve listened to Hamilton for YEARS
I just started a week ago bc it made me sad that I was too poor to go see the show before heading the songs, but I’ve listened to the album on a loop and have watched the show 5 times and everything I see something new and beat something new; the details are ~chefs kiss~
It gets me every time how people are so musically talented that they just open their mouths and whatever comes out will be in key and will sound good. I could never.
I would absolutely hate to be the stage manager for this show, really only because the show is constantly going a mile a minute and there's a million things happening on the stage at all times. It would be mentally and physically exhausting after just one performance.
It's crazy. Two weeks ago we went to London to see Hamilton, because my daughter was such a fan. Cost a fortune. And now I find myself searching YT clips. I come from a hardcore punk background and this musical just chokes me up. I am fan. Crazy.
You have to admit. The background characters are the heart and soul of the show. The ensabele makes up the show. People think the background characters don’t really matter, but really, there the people that make the Mains shine.
Exactly. Rule one of improv, and I personally believe to be the most important thing of all stage acting, is make the person next to you look as good as possible
Gii - He was the cover/understudy for Burr & Washington. When Leslie Odom left , he was Burr for about a month until Brandon Victor Dixon was ready to step in. Also, he’s James Reynolds on cast recording of Say NoTo This.
I just want to be in a theater and watch them go through rehearsals cause its so magical to me. The thought of a whole story being told by song and dance and everyone has their own part and how much lights and how much props are put into this kind of musicals. I just want to be in the room where it happens 😅😂
ok but i honestly love how the rehearsal of Who Lives Who Dies Who Tells Your Story goes like: "time................. Time................. Time............. Time................. sHe tEllS mY sToRyYyYyy................ Time............. wILL THEY TELL YOUR STORYYYYYY........... tHe oRpHaNaGeEeEeeEEe."
I love how during What'd I Miss Anthony and Jasmine were just looking at something on Jasmine's phone while they're sitting next to Daveed and he's singing his part
EVERY classroom teacher viewing this can shed a tear for the music director & his singers getting a “ bit restless “ with hundreds of these rehearsals! HE EARNED EVERY BIT OF THAT TONY🔥
I love watching Jasmine and Anthony connecting during rehearsals. I heard they met because of this show. Was this possibly the beginning of them getting together?
I know this may seem weird but I'm more obsessed with the whole process of getting there than the actual end product. Maybe it's because of my own theatrical history but I hope they do a documentary on the making of.
I fell in love with Hamilton after watching it on July 4th, but I am sorry to say I never really appreciated the ensemble for their vocals because although I liked their backing vocals, I was more focused on the principal cast, but damn to hear just the ensemble sing alone, is beautiful and it's truly amazing just to hear how much beauty their vocal layers really added to the beauty of the show. Well done Alex Lacamoire and Lin for coming up with the arrangements and the whole cast for being able to execute it.
