Hamish sets out to expose the hypocrisy of a bank manager. Hamish is having financial troubles, and Rory Campbell bails him out; in return, Hamish agrees to take part in Lochdubh's amateur production of West Side Story.
Watching this on iPlayer, I noticed there was an episode 3 and an episode 5, but no episode 4 in the first series. So I checked online to see why (copyright issues - see episode title), and was then happy to find it here. Good episode too! Thanks for posting this! 🙂
That Manager wants reporting to Head Office. As a position of authority such as a Bank Manager, you're supposed to impartial regards to matters of religion and politics
I was wondering why it's not included on the dvd boxset myself. Mine came through the post yesterday and started binge watching it. Maybe it's for some contractual reason of some sort!
I've just looked into it. It's because they used songs from West Side Story and couldn't get permission to use those songs on the dvd release so it was decided to release dvd without its inclusion. Hope this helps 😊😊
A similar copyright issue happened when "WKRP in Cincinnati" was released on home video -- they had to replace the original music. At the time of original production, music was licensed only for the TV broadcast, home video didn't exist.
@@missezramay Robert Carlyle does sing. He did as Rumpelstiltskin in Once Upon a Time & in a movie I can't think of the name of, this early before coffee. I need to dash off but the filmography will be online. Roddy is joking around.
@@alanatolstad4824 I thought it was clear. The banker was confronted with his past, and when his son arrives (when he's looking at her picture), I thought it was obvious that he would then tell him about his Mom. Since that happened after the farmer shot him, I think the banker let him off and let him keep the farm. We see the son and daughter singing together at the end, so i figured it all worked out.
