Hammer-Fired vs. Striker-Fired Pistols: Which is Right for You? 

For me, it is all about how the trigger feels, and I most definitely do prefer the feel of a hammer fired trigger. As for the 1911 platform, I love it, but it is not the best option available today for concealed carry, it just isn't. The small striker fired polymer wonders are so much easier to conceal. And you are right about the take down and cleaning, what a PITA.🤦‍♂ But luckily today, we have some hammer fired options in the carry department, even the micro 9 area. I have two options I have been very happy with. The S&W Equalizer and the FN Reflex, both are internally hammer fired, so they have that sweet two stage trigger with a crisp wall.👍 And they take down like a striker fired pistol, no tools.👍 In fact, if you did not take them down, you would think both are strikers.🤷‍♂

If I’m conceal carry I prefer stricker but that’s just me sometimes the hammer pokes me. But I definitely prefer hammer when it comes to the trigger 🔥! I also wanna get that prodigy next!

You know I forgot to add…I do like the way Hammer Fired feels and the single action pull after the first shot. Also, I appendix carry and add an added safety measure I place my thumb on the hammer as I holster- it will give me feedback if something engages the trigger as I holster

Yes my man I made up my mind that I'm not getting a Prodigy until Springfield came out with the Prodigy Comp I will be grabbing one within the next two weeks. You have to keep them wet, oh that's what she said! Now I must say my man a 1911/2011's take down can be annoying but what I did with the first 1911 I bought was take it down several times in one day until I figured out a better way for me or it was as simple as counting to three..! A tool less guide rod makes it quicker that's it bruh...😎

Call me fudd…hammer fired. I even agree that the striker fired bore axis is better for recoil mitigation…but I have freak hands. Big palms…stubby fingers. The HK P30 series really works for me.
