Amen brother customers never understand the cost of what they can't see, i also own a shop and it's a constant battle trying to defend our pricing and explain why it costs what it costs, and all we can do is show them all the paperwork for parts, timesheets, and photos and say that's why take it or leave it

I really like your content. Keep it up. I feel your frustration regarding customers and cost. You can’t build for everyone, you need to find your true loyal customers that understand time and money. Business owners are always struggling with the type of customer who wants it for nothing. You have to pay for experience period. In some ways all the TV shows ruined the custom car shops by making it look like cars can be built in a week. I hated what Boyd Coddington did to the custom car/ hot rod scene. He basically took art and turned the whole equation into “it needs to be done today” for the sake of money. The pressure that was put on his shop was crazy.

Thank you for sharing! Some guys I work with have even said they charge less per hours than some shops but its because they will use more hours overall to drive the car and make sure builds are completely gone through. That way the customer doesn't get a car that they then need to sort out themselves. That's doing right IMO

Keep up the education/rants, so many hacks out there and people don't understand the time involved in the non glamourous parts of building nice stuff. My experience is that anything custom(aka not just replacing a factory part) takes some multiple of the amount of time...4x and up... Loved watching your analysis of how things are made and the components used.

Thanks for sharing because the average person that wants a car built don't have a clue what it takes to build a really WICKED car! They don't understand how many hours and hours that go into a great paint job. The hours of color sanding polishing, the list goes on and on. I just subscribed to your channel.
